  1. Bannister and Wrigley both have crappie, pike and largemouth. Bannister has a law stated absolutely no watercraft. Use to do a lot of catfish fishing on Wrigely as a kid. Both lakes are extemely shallow and full of weeds which leads to heavy winter kill every year. What do you like to fish for dude PM me and Ill give you some area hotspots to try. I live in the Rockway gardens section of town and have lived most of my here. And most of that Ive spent fishing.
  2. If I caught a carp on my little Loomis 4 and a half footer Id be in such a panic that he would totally destroy my rod. Hey Rich do you ever fish behind the ball diamonds. My son plays there occasionally and Ive walked along the river looks intrigueing. Good way maybe to pass the time while the teams are warming up.
  3. The whole expresion and pose of GB and his fish is priceless.
  4. Temps are staying down that helps keep them around and thats a very nice fish.!!!
  5. He's easily an hour south of you and heres a nice pic of a brook trout from the Kitchener area Like the man said you have to know where to look. No Ive never seen a five pounder but I have seen quite a few 18" fish.
  6. I actually found the "down here " part very amusing.
  7. Probably already burned up. I'd guess theives were after contents of the trailer only. Sometimes life sucks. Soory to hear about it.
  8. Perfect throwback size . I cant wait for the season to open!!!!
  9. Oh yeah Im sure its happening on private ponds and there might be the odd escapee but Im familiar with where he was fishing and theres a ton of natural specks in the area that could account for the catch.
  10. As far as I know Rich there is no stocking of specks in streams going on in southern ontario. If they were all around the same size it might just be a good year class. Im very familiar with the area you fish. If you want to discuss it further feel free to PM me.
  11. For lakers 52 sounds right but I find brookies most active 60-64.
  12. Im going to recommend Sparrow Lake just N of Orillia. Great pike fishing with lots of panfish and the odd walleye for those who know how to find them. Lots of places to stay and rent boats. Easy lake to read as well.
  13. Thanks. I like the woodwork you did, What kind of wood did you use it has an interesting variation between the colours of the grain.
  14. Congrats and happy birthday. Some very nice fish. Easy on the background though, I know exactly where you are. What leads you to believe the deer was poached could it not be he just dressed it in the field?
  15. The browns there seem to really patrol a certain section of the shore. Go some evening when the bugs are hatching they really give themselves away.By the by did you guys know that thats Ontario's only true Highland Reservoir.
  16. Great report, not much of a walleye fan(other than eating them) but its good to see that you persevered in the face of adversity.
  17. Go wade the Speed and Grand Rivers for bass when the season opens both are just an hour away.
  18. That reservoir does have both stocked fish and naturals in it. Haave you got any browns yet? They are in there. To bad they dont put lakers in there anymore.
  19. I used an outfit like that when I was 6 or 7. We were camping on Marks Island at Barrys Bay and I was fishing for panfish when a 14 inch smallmouth grabbed my worm. The whole ensemble underwent spontaneous existance failure. I only managed to catch the fish by hand lining it in. Some of the things that will be improved by buying a better kit. Get rid of spincast. They dont cast very well and are notorious for tangled line inside the spool and for not picking up line when you turn the handle. Try a quantum quick cast system Im not a big fan of the company but the system is great for beginners learning how to use spinning gear.
  20. Ive driven straight through to Labrador a couple times thats a good 22 hrs but by far the most harrowing and nerve wracking was 13 hrs to Temagami in March. Everything was fine down here a light rain and warm temps. It all changed to ice and snow at Gravenhurst. I spun out twice at low speeds and watched 2 vehicles wipe out right off the road. I dont think we went much faster than 20k an hour all the way to North Bay.
  21. You need to get better equipment for a start. But the best suggestion I can make to you is join a local angling group(not sure whats in Hamilton) . They might be able to get you started in the right direction.
  22. The no trespassing sign Ive always wanted is a Human Target silouette with a big red circle with a slash through it. Pinned to a tree and peppered with buckshot. If you didnt get the meaning to that youd be pretty thick.
  23. A jewel of a fish,thanks for the report.
  24. Those look very similar to the one my buddy used while working for the Alaskan DNR. They would helicopter them in to the head waters of rivers. And they would do redd counts of salmon on the way down. He actually liked them quite a bit. Mind you all his fishing was done from shore, they just used the inflatable yaks for their gear and travel.
