  1. If you want to test it you can tape the transducer on the hull location and then put enough water in the bottom to submerge the face of it. The signal you get will be equal to the one if it was bonded in place. Art
  2. JPD you are correct bud.The hull temp is slow to respond and you also get thermal heat from any electronics or motor. Art

  5. Your well should definitely NOT be used for drinking. If you have bug bits and organic contaminants. The Brita is not a organic filtration system and the U.V. will not sterilize organic matter. One of the criteria for U.V. to eliminate bacteria is a clean water source without colloids (fine sediment)and low mineral content. High sulfur and iron can both be removed with the correct systems but they will cost you some what to install. The main reason for well casings is to make the water seep past the organic stage of the aquifer and then filter thru the surrounding inert soil it also promotes the water source to rise from below. It is important to also make sure that you have a good well head seal to keep the bugs, organics from getting into the water table. It takes one mouse/mole to send you all to the hospital even though you are not drinking it. I would encourage you to have a professional test the waters condition both mineral and contaminates and then have a system designed for it.While it seems like an unneeded cost now when you can turn on the tap and drink it you will be safer and happier I am sure. 6. While it seems unfair on one hand if the insurance company does not have more money coming in than going out it will close then no one has insurance. I have 2 term life policies, health,2 motorcycles,4 autos,a boat and 2 million in business insurance all so I can sleep at night. Their seems not to be an answer that takes the sting out of your troubles but I hope you can get the insurance you need for your peace of mind. Art
  7. With patients I was able to get the set from 2 different sources and it was only 1450.oo. The old 575 is going to the smaller boat and the smaller boat unit Black and white sounder Garmin is going to a friend who doesn't have a unit. With this unit making 2 boats and a friend happy it seems pretty reasonable. Art
  8. I had the big boat hauled today so I could finish installing the transducers.I got it all wired up and it was off to play with it. I must say it is a really powerful fishing tool. I went out to 4 ft of water and turned on the sidescan and set it off to scan 30 ft left and right. I was able to see clearly rocks, weeds and navigation pilings. The bait fish did not show up or I haven't found out what they look like yet.I then went out to deeper water and set up for bottom scanning. I was using the 200 khz on the sonar and 800 khz on the lss-1 unit. The difference once set up is amazing. The 800 looks more like an x ray than a sonar unit. The sonar would show a small red bump and the sounder would show a small hump/rock. In the water column the red blips would show up as ghost shadows either tight as a fish or gapping as a bait ball. I still have alot to learn but after 1 1/2 hrs it looks like a tool that is very useful for anyone who fishes in water that is usually over 20 ft. Art
