  1. what lb-test of it u got? i got 20lb.... and I have that exact thought about it too... it seems very stiff. I'm gona use it as leader only so that's not a problem I hope.
  2. The rule in Wonderland is 48" WITH SHOES on, no i'm not joking Their rule does say for Jr/Sr ticket, it's for 3y/o+ and under 48"... but there's no upper limit on the "child's" age. So i guess thats' why they didn't even bother checking ur age documents. Will be interesting if someone that's obviously an adult but indeed under 48" ...
  3. But how about a 20lb normal fluoro and a 20lb "leader material" fluoro, any major different? I'm using 14 or 15lb braided main line, mainly for bass most of the time, I shouldn't need 80lb+ fluoro leader, right?
  4. can't comment on the child age/height requirement part. But about the admission price.... never go to the gate and pay regular price! Spend a few min online you can easily find discount code that give u adult admission tickets for $35~ or less. I've never paid more than $35-37ish... lowest once $26.
  5. Well, after losing a big pike that's perhaps 24" (big for me anyway, and I never got a pike be4!!!) last week, and today losing a BIG LMB (4-5lb+ for sure, most likely PB-gonabe), i finally went to Crappy Tire to find a new fluoro line for leader. I've been using Vanish but it breaks at the line-line knot Should have ditched the Vanish long ago So I saw this "NEW Berkley® Trilene® 100% Fluorocarbon"..... and the Crappy Tire here has it sold-by-yard ($0.15/). I got 50yards of it to try (only as leader)... tho thinking back, probably should just buy 10yard to try, not like that's any spooling fee, oh well. The ad from Berkley's site: Trilene® 100% Fluorocarbon - Professional Grade™ is the ULTIMATE fluorocarbon fishing line PERIOD! Diameter for diameter it has the strongest impact strength of all fluorocarbon lines. It's the Ultimate in manageability and the ultimate in invisibility. With a similar refractive index as water, fish can't see it! It's easily the most sought after fishing line by most of the touring Pro's." Anyone else tried it yet? good or nay? And btw, what's that actual difference between a normal fluoro line and a "leader material" fluoro line?
  6. oh forgot to mention... on Ebay it's $2 for 100 with my address shipping is only $2 flat, even if u order 200,300.
  7. The tube+ring "kit" from BPS is $5.99 as other have already mentioned. The replacement 10-pack rings are $1.9x if i remember correctly.
  8. why not? it's not much different then shrimps
  9. My colleague in lab wanted to buy a used car few years ago and asked me to help test-drive one he interested in. I already advised him not to get a domestic USED car (i wont' even trust a domestic new, let alone used). The one I test-drove for him, the brake was so bad I had to floor it EVERYTIME in even normal braking situation. I told that to the dealer and what did he say? "It's a used Ford (or Dodge), what do you expect"... and he sounded very serious. Anyway my colleague ended up buying a different used domestic later. I think it was $8-9000. That junk died all the time, esp once winter came. He said he brought the car to shop for numerous times, spent a good $2-3000 and still couldnt' even figure out what's wrong. When winter came, during 1 snowstorm, his car died on highway in between towns. Luckily a lady pulled over and took him and his wife back to town. Few weeks later we got another snowstorm. He asked me if I could drive to the other town to pick up his wife with him. I was like "your car still not working?". His car was actually "fixed" and running (sorta). But he's AFRAID to drive that junk in a snowstorm. I OKed to drive him to get his wife in Gananoque back to Kingston, in my car obviously. Soon later he traded in that junk for a previous-year model brand new Corolla. He was so happy, and most importantly he was RELIEVED! My first car was a Toyota Rav4. At the time, Ford Escape was the competing vehicle in the same "class". I did quite abit of research be4 deciding on the Rav4. The differences in quality and ppl's expectation were definitely huge. From the Rav4 forum, 1 major "flaw" of Rav4 was a NOISE from the dash area, in some of the Rav4.... which turned out to be the plastic battery cover rubbing on the windshield and could be easily fixed by a few inches of sticky foam tap. But some ppl were getting so angry about how the Toyota quality was bad (becoz of that 1 fixable NOISE problem) etc etc. Then in the Ford Escape forum.... well, 1 guy (or lady) test-drove a Escape and the steering wheel broke (LOL). Then some guy posted about his brand new Escape engine DIED for no reason and asked if other ppl had similar problem. Sure enough a few ppl replied having the same issue (Ford, engines, dies? what a surprised!). But what's really funny? all those few ppl, despite having the dead engine on a brand new Escape, would go on and comment how they LOVED their Escape, etc, etc. They just talked about the mysterious engine dying problem as if it's nothing! like It's just part of the fun and joy of buying a Ford?!? Didn't take me long to exclude the Ford Escape from my list at the time thats' for sure.
  10. i never trust any 3rd-party insurance... most of the time it's nothing but scam.
  11. yeah it was that same link, thanks Maybe i'll try again.....
  12. good 4 you! I sent a complain about the leaky bucket and the juice turning completely dark brown/black after 1/2 a year.... never got a reply back
  13. Oh I won't be appalled by it, not anymore anyway Few summers ago, I worked in an oversea government, full-time summer-temp job, in the department that processes all the import/export documents & declaration forms. I've seen the cost of lot of things as small as underwears, lighters to big ticket item like a Mercedes. And having live on both sides of the planet makes me realize even more how much the price markup is. Real story, a textbook I needed to use back in undergrad for analytic chem was $105+tax here. The exact same book, written, published & printed in America, when shipped all the way to 1/2 way across the planet, would retail for ~$20 instead. Even if all that shipping were free and Canadian government had a 200% tax on book, still wouldn't close to explaining the price difference. It's all about conditioning the public and charging as much as possible. Yeah, and this convolution also makes the rich richer and the poor poorer.
  14. this makes u wonder how much profit the chain stores, or wholesalers make out of us when we'r buying these stuffs at the "regular" price
  15. where's the telescopic fishing rod? meh, not good enough, need more versatility
  16. woh that's something new that none of us has heard of for sure hah Seriously tho, the charges likely won't stick.... or maybe there'll be a $1000 fine or something.
  17. Not sure about action, but i use 5" coz it's bigger, ie heavier and so I can cast it further away. I guess it's not a factor for ppl fishing from boat, but i'm only from shore. And also, 4" and 5" cost the same anyway, I think
  18. I always use flouro leader. So if i snag anything, i can just pull til the flouro breaks.
  19. Nice stuffs i gota try out those bubblegum pink senko one of these days.
  20. I guess maybe just so it's not too crowded when there'r alot of ppl fishing? Winter ice-fishing is alot slower and much less ppl fish during winter? And the Great lakes are so big it's OK? lol no idea. Or it could just be the remnant of old regulations back when there wasn't any catch limit from whatever years ago? It's like there'r still laws in some places that it's illegal to bring your cow/sheep in front of the courthouse or something lol
  21. I cast out the senkos, let it sink on its own til i can see/feel the line is no longer going. Then maybe wait couple to a few sec, then twitch and reel in some line and repeat. It's definitely slow... usually if there's some other ppl fishing with spinner, spinnerbaits besides me, they'll probably make 5 casts be4 I even finish 1 One thing I find with senko, is that SMALL fish tends to pull the line faster/earlier than bigger fish (by "bigger" i mean 1lb, for me anyway). It's like the bigger fish will swallow the senko and just kinda sits there, enjoying the meal perhaps? Whilst the smaller fish will try to bite and sorta hit and run right away with the senko, afraid of the meal being stolen by other fish perhaps??. ok, by "fish" i mean LMB for the most part.
  22. Red being the first color in the visible spectrum to disappear (diffracted) from underwater is correct. But that wouldn't make it "invisible", it'll just become black, as other here said from their diving experience. An object is black when it absorbs all the lights, it's white when it reflects all the lights, it's red when it absorbs all the light EXCEPT red. Red light is the first color to get diffracted out of water if u go deep enough, so a normally red object receives no more red light to reflect, essentially becomes the same as a black object. And black is definitely not invisible. In fact black is probably MORE visible, for predators under water anyway. If you look at alot of small fish, or even big fish, mammals etc that live in water, they often have white/light color underside and black/dark color upperside. Coz a underwater predator will look UP at the preys, and see the white/bright color sky as the background, and thus white/light color is actually a better camouflage while black/dark color is more visible from this angle. Having said that... if we'r fishing in shallow water for, says, LMB, the red color probably will still appear red at shallow depth up to a certain point? And then there's the question if fish can actually distinguish different color at all? I dun really know
  23. can always use a red marker or some red paint
  24. Tornado? for real? I only find thunderstorm warning http://www.theweathernetwork.com/alerts/ You'r talking about Weather Network, right?
  25. lol I have this thought... actually HAD this thought be4. Guess finally someone showing up with a traffic ticket Imagine if someone posting about getting caught by MNR with a fishing violation and how he can fight the ticket?. "Oh I'm just abit over the limit.... oh i didn't hurt anyone.... I didn't know i was over the limit and what the limit was" (funny the exact thing can be used as "reason" for speeding haha) There would surely be a bunch of comments like, should push his white bucket and HIM in the water, giving him a death wish, should have all his gears removed, remove his license for whatever years, [insert a bunch of insulting name-callings], hope he goes to jail, of course the useless judge will just give him a slap on the wrist & he'll just keep on raping the resources... etc etc. I guess we only need to be ethical when dealing with fish, dont' need that when dealing with people. Somehow, maybe just me, those 2 phrases don't seem to complement each other very well.... Anyway, to the OP... I think a ticket is a ticket is a ticket for insurance. 2pt, or 3 pt ticket is just the same as 1 conviction I think. Unless it's 49km/h+ over limit, then u can say goodbye to ur normal insurance right away. 1 conviction will perhaps increase maybe 10% (??guesstimate, assuming this' first conviction) of ur insurance for the next 5 years or so?! Judge for urself if it's worth spending 1/2 a day in court and hope the cop doesnt' show up.
