  1. Don't the gas companies LOVE hurricanes or what. Just when the oil price is going down, here comes another hurricane to give them all the excuse they need to jack up the price.... "OMG hurricane, we'r scared and we'r gona increase the gas price so the pile of cash can give us more comfort." Becoz it's cheaper for the gas companies to pay-off the politicians to have their mouth shut, then to actually lower the price (or stop increasing the price).
  2. it seems every other time I saw a thread by ccmt, it's PB of something lol Darn good fish!!
  3. Aside from the liquid turning dark brown (which I mentioned in one of the other threads), on a recent attempt to try them again, I found the 4" minnows became quite stiff. I put one on the hook and drag it thru water and the minnow tail barely, if at all, wiggled. It's like a dead wood stick. I dont' have a new bucket of them to compare to so I don't know if it's originally supposed to be like that... but I doubt it.
  4. geez, rage much? Just because politicians, government/corporations abuse some issues to their benefits, to try to make it a propaganda, to gain power, to make money and what not, doesn't mean the issues are all non-existence.
  5. You forget the 2 most important ingredients... 100lb of politics and 100tons of money. It doesn't matter what the original issue is, once those 2 are injected into the mix, everything else is irrelevant.
  6. It does say: "This article lists scientists and former scientists who have stated disagreement with one or more of the principal conclusions of the mainstream scientific opinion on global warming. It should not be interpreted as a list of global warming skeptics. Inclusion is based on specific criteria that do not necessarily reflect skepticism toward climate change caused by human activity, or that such change could be large enough to be harmful." yeahhhhh sureeee ok
  7. Funny you mention Olympics. Haven't you read and heard of all the initial concerns about the air pollution in Beijing that would affect the athletics performance, and all the drastic measures the Chinese government did in order to clean up the environment? You cant' just forcefully includes everything (natural environment, pollution, medicine, living standard) as one giant big factor (that you termed as environment)... then said coz we live better overall now, so everything you just include in this one giant factor must all contribute positively. Yes, we can indeed have worse air quality, worse climate, and still have a overall better live.
  8. I agree with the comment you'r arguing against yourself Your quote: "Secondly if we are suffering negative health effects, how is it that our lifespans have increased over the last hundred years? Don't get me wrong I know the climate is changing. It's that blanket statements like yours do beg for some questions. " Last time I checked... an increase in global temperature (whether you think it's caused by human or not), or change in climate (colder, warmer, wetter, dryer) doesn't kill us. And even air pollution does NOT kill people, not in an acute way... it's a slow, very slow process. In fact for the most part air pollution itself does not kill anyone... it just makes ppl more susceptible to diseases, getting sick easier etc. On the other hands, all the modern medicine, antibiotics, vaccines, diagnostic equipments are leaps and bounces from a hundred years ago, there is no comparison at all. And if you want to argue over semantics, I wouldn't mix in environment with health care as 1 giant thing. If I throw you in a poisoned air chamber, while giving you an antidote on site... is your overall environment (your definition) still good? You'll still be alive right? ....I think not.
  9. Medicine, vaccine? health care, doctors, hospitals, all the gazillion dollars that goes into health science & medical research?
  10. Piranhas are freshwater fish. You are right about the part that they'r from Amazon... except Amazon is a freshwater body, not saltwater Most likely they wont' survive. BUT there's always exception. I've read reports of tropical fish (mostly small ones like tetras etc) that managed to survive as small colonies in warmer water of cold geographic regions.... say warm water exhaust from power plants or what not.
  11. Becoz being politically correct is more important than many & any issues these days to alot of ppl.
  12. Is there a better job in this world, to get a $2mil bonus, for sucking at what u'r supposed to do
  13. I find it funny (well, not really), that ppl start blaming/critizing this and that, yet do we actually know any details of the ppl involved in that incident at all? It's (or can be anyway) "investment immigration" I think?
  14. 1-size fit all I guess? I'm using 5" senkos.
  15. I just ordered and received a bag of o-rings from Ebay..... $2 for 100, plus $2 shipping, as I mentioned in the other post Dan linked. These are just a hair, barely, smaller than the o-rings that come with the BPS o-ring tools, but fit just fine. 100 of them... should last me 2-3 years...
  16. Sort of similar, but I wonder if anyone else ever look at the claim cost if you ever claim anything. Few years ago my car was rear-ended. Til 2 years ago be4 I switched insurance company I asked about that claim. I was not at fault but the other guy who hit me just happened to be in the same insurance company. The repair cost on my car was $8000 and I rented a car for a few days, plus the towing cost, the total should be <$9000. And guess what's the claim cost on my side? $12000. Where the heck did that extra $3000 come from? The guy who hit me drove a used 2nd-hand Accord. There was no third-party property damage in the accident. I did not claim a single dollar of injury/medical expense (I had sore neck/shoulder for awhile). Guess what's the claim cost on his side? $35000! You can buy a brand-new Accord with that money!! I think the insurance company just jacked up the numbers so they could increase the premium more on that guy. Poor guy just got his license.
  17. Oh P3TA doesn't really sink to a new low...... they'r already this low! I'm pretty sure it's not the first time they do something like this. They made similar ad with that multiply-homicide case involving women killed/buried in the pig farm or something like that. I have a suggestion for P3TA tho.... why don't they just kill one of themselves everyday... then they can make a new ad campaign everyday! A win-win for everyone.
  18. There is certainly the profit part. No one will ever spend the money and time to research anything if there isn't at least some profit somewhere. But I won't say the medical world would be "worry" about curing a disease. There will always be more diseases showing up.... people will die of one problem or another, sadly. There have been alot of diseases been cured if you haven't noticed. As for the common cold, well first it's a virus, which is always tougher to deal with; second, it's sorta cured in the sense that most of the times we know how to treat it; and most importantly the common cold virus is so easy to be contacted and it mutates so much so often every year that it's practically impossible to have a "full cure". Unfortunately that goes both ways. There are as many cases, perhaps even more, that the patients request the doctors for such and such "new" drugs.... after the patients watching about them on tv, internet etc. It's easy to blame the doctors, but in reality the doctors are in the mercy of the drug companies & government. Docs have to work, it's a job. How would they have the time and means to research about the new drugs? There is no way basically, other than getting the only available info from the drug companies in those "seminars". You can't really expect each doctor to run a 5 years field-trial on each new drugs out there in his/her own home, before using it for patients, can you?
  19. I'm with most of the others... if there'r no one on the dock/water, go ahead and fish. But if obviously there'r ppl sitting there, or in the water swimming or what not, then show some respect and move on. It's not that end of the world if u get 1 less possible fish in that day. Say, when u go to a beach/park relaxing with ur wife/gf, then some guy come in with his beach mat and lay down right beside next to your wife/gf, when there're miles of the beach/park available around, will u like that? The beach isn't yours and the sand isn't yours.
  20. Definitely. I use 4/0 offset wide-gap worm hooks for senko, texas weightless. You can actually cast it for quite a good distance. If you gona wacky rig, use o-rings to make the senkos last ALOT longer. The first time I tried senko... FIRST CAST, I hooked and pulled in a fish of decent size. Lost it tho when I got it a few feet from shore... but boy was I excited about the senkos
  21. I dont' quite agree with that. Not saying researchers/scientists are better or anything, but it's very different than an everyday job like auto-workers. Researchers' jobs are pretty much looking for new ideas & stuffs constantly. A researcher that sits his butt on the same thing for ages isn't exactly a good thing. Changing focus to a different area isn't that uncommon in research at all.... trust me, I KNOW! As for doctors/researchers/scientists losing jobs without having to treat cancers if it's cured.... for sure that won't happen. Let's face it, we'll all die one way or another. If cancer is cured, there'll be something else new, and/or some existing diseases will take over. And cancers being the "profit" disease.... well cancers do bring alot of money to the pharm companies. But the biggest real "profit" diseases are all those mental/psychological social illnesses that pops up out of nowhere. Like ADD for kids (Ritalin), it's SOooooo over-done. There are so many of these new "illnesses" identified by drug companies it's just sad.
  22. Interesting read. But is it another...if it's too good to be true... ? Candida is fairly common. I'm not surprised they said they found it in alot of cancers. But the question is, Does that actually causes cancer, or Does cancer weakens the patients making them more susceptible to Candida infection? Given the complexity and many varieties of cancers, I'd be inclined to think the later. Having said that.... doesn't hurt to try.
  23. Thanks. For a moment it seemed everyone must fish for trophy pike and musky 80lb+ flouro for a weightless senko seems overkill lol.
  24. Looks like no one feels there's any difference with time of the day wrt color Just bought myself a pack of bubblegum... of senkos that is. I've read quite a few times ppl saying the bubblegum color is hot. That's kinda an odd color, but I'll see Too bad the weather doesn't seem to be good... thunderstorm, again! how do you find the durability of the Mizmo sticks compared to Senkos?
  25. For fishing bass with senko, either wacky or weightless texas, assuming other factors being equal, do you guys/gals find any color preference for different time of the day? say, morning, mid-day/afternoon, evening? Been trying quite many color of Senko..... but it's really hard to tell if there's any difference at all, when on average I only get a bass every hr or so
