  1. Hello Gang, Headed up to Pigeon Lake again for the long weekend. Me and Buckster had dedicated Saturday to strictly fishing as there was a bunch of friends heading up to my place for the weekend. After getting back from Bobcaygeon with groceries, we hit the lake around 11 am. The weather was a little odd in that it changed every half hour or so (sunny, cloudy, windy etc). Our goal was to do some musky-huntin' as we hadnt been out in a while. We fished for approximately 2 hours with not even a strike......Nadda.....Zippo......Zilch......Goose-Egg! Then in the afternoon the weather turned overcast and the wind picked up causing a little chop on the water. Not more than 20 minutes into this new weather pattern......WHAMMO.......we get a fish !! Here she is..... For the next 3 hours we boated 4 more fish. We could not believe how the fish just turned on with the new weather pattern. Just goes to show how vital weather and conditions can be. Here is fish # 2, 3 and 5 Fish #4 came only 5 minutes after our 3rd fish. She hit a jointed believer and turned out to be our BIGGEST fish to date. She measured 52 inches and had a girth just shy of 22 inches. Her belly was incredibly big as she must have just gorged. We measured her, quick pic and away she went. We did not have a scale on board but using one of the fish-calculators she came off at just shy of 28 pounds. Our biggest in 11 years !!! Here she is.....look at that gut.......the Muskies....not mine !! Sunday we headed out to try our luck at pickerel. Managed a few small dinks then Buckster nailed this nice little gem. In all it was a great weekend. We managed 5 skis and a decent pic. Thanks for listening, C'monnnnnnnn weeeknd !! Meely
  2. WTG !!! That ski is a beaut !! Congrats. Meely
  3. I was just in there last week searching for a net. The fella mentioned he does not carry FrabrilL anymore and had to order me a Beckman. He stated it would take about 2 weeks for it to come in. Price was approx $180. I'd call ahead.......... Oh yeah...they were also clearing out some of their Leo Musky lures. Clearance prices cant be beat.....some are less than half the regular price. Meely
  4. What is with all this.....ummm......."Malarky" ?? In my opinion, if you wanna talk SMACK then keep it to pms...... I think this board is much better than all this silly non-sense. PM it !! Just my 2 cents..... Meely
  5. As I had a few more small jobs to complete up at the cottage last weekend, I hadn't planned on getting out on the lake to try my luck. Most of Saturday was spent re-arranging furniture and putting together some new furniture I had purchased from IKEA....(Gotta love IKEA !!) Called it quits on Saturday evening and decided to try our luck...... .......Fished for 2 hours....NADDA !! Sunday, we managed to get all the work done by 11 am and decided to head out and try our luck again. We began working a section of the north end of the lake again as this area had produced some nice fish for us. 5 Minutes after beginning......my buddy nails this little gem......Really aggressive strike as she had more than half the lure in her mouth. We fished for another 2 hours or so and 5 minutes before we decided to call it quits, Buckster nails this nice fish very close to Big Island....... Again, boated her, quick pic and away she went !! So, in all.....it was a very productive weekend. Got most of the work completed and managed to get 3 to 4 hours on the water as well. Thanks for reading, Meely
  6. WTG !!! Nice job there MM. What better way to spend some time than with the lady and Musky friend !! Meely
  7. WOWEEEEE....Nice Fish !! I have always wanted to try my luck out on Lake O. ..But wouldn't know where to begin Meely
  8. Keep at'er JBF....... The ski's are there...... I may head up this weekend.......Maybe I'll see you on the water. Meely
  9. Thanks Gang. I dropped by the "local old timers'" house and showed him the pics. He just doesn't believe it.....lol..... Some people are just set in their ways and are hard to convince......I guess.... Meely PS.....After a slight unexpected change in plans.......looks like I may have a chance to get away this weekend and giv'er another shot !! I'll post any results. TJ: We tried and tried to get her to hold it...but...no dice. She looks pretty confident in that one pic posted but I can assure you....as soon as Buckster snapped the pic it was "......"Get this thing away from me !! ".....lol...
  10. Mike, This fish was not as thick as the first one....This fish was a lot thinner.... more "snakier". The first one had a set of shoulders on her !! We thught we had seen you out there on the weekend but it ended up bein a blue boat. We've actually seen you a few times up at the north end......fishing around those little back bays. Next time, we'll say HELLO. Meely
  11. Nice pics Lew. Are these in the same area you showed me last year? Lemme know if you wanna hook-up for a day this summer. Meely
  12. Bein a "burly" fella myself.....as are most of my other "goombas", I'm kinda partial to a good solid crib dock. A neighbour of mine up north has a floating dock and we have to "stagger" ourselves when gettin in and out of his boat. One time we forgot and 2 of us got out at once......we were ankle deep in water. Meely
  13. Having had such an incredible first half of the week, me and Buckster decided to head back up to Pigeon Lake last weekend to see if the Musky-gods were still on our side. This time Buckster's younger sister asked if she could join us as she had never caught a Musky before. We arrived at the lake Saturday morning at approximately 8 am and after settling in we decided to head out on the water. The weather was very nice with blue skies both days. Knowing how "finicky" the ski's could be we decided to take a long shot and try our luck using the same techniques we had used a few days before. We began to work an area of the top end of the lake near Big Island (one we had never really tried before) but figured we'd take a shot at. Cold Ice tea on hand, charts studied, lines set up... we begin trolling. We had agreed that Buckster's sister (Lisa) would bring in the first fish ...if any. 40 Minutes later.........BOOM.....a rod goes off and starts peeling drag. Buckster was quick on the rod-release and handed the rod to Lisa. She begins to fight. This fish took her all around the boat and she battled this thing like a veteran musky-hunter. This fish finally surfaces and we cant believe what we see !!!!!!! A massive fish !! We got her unhooked and into the boat where we quickly measured her. A WHOPPER of a fish. 51 inches ! Now, I know of people who have fished for years and have not caught a musky let alone one over 50 inches and here we have a rookie reeling in her first Musky ever and its a fish of a lifetime, only problem was....she was too terrified to hold this thing. Buckster and myself tried to convince her to hold it while we snapped a pic but she wouldnt have anything to do with it......so...Buckster did the honours. Here she is: Quickly revived her and happily watched her swim off. We set up or lines again and continued to work the area. Here is how we did for the remainder of the weekend. Musky #2 Sunday's fish. Musky #3 Musky #4 As this one was a smaller fish Lisa decided to take the p"lunge" and hold her catch for a photo-op. We decided to crown Lisa as the "Musky-Goddess". So, in all, we had another great weekend. 4 fish in two days. I have been up on Pigeon for 11 years now and have only caught one fish over 50 inches in all my efforts. This week, we managed to boat 2. Who'da thunk ! Gotta love it when a plan comes together !! Thanks for reading, Meely
  14. Hey Sinker...... Me and Buckster may just see you up there on Saturday !! May head back up and see if we can give her another go. We normally stay around the top end of Pigeon. Shoot me a PM if you wanna meet up on the water. Meely
  15. Hey Roy........Its all smoke and mirrors.....
  16. If we're gonna go by that philosophy..... Does ANY fish caught trolling count then? Marlin?? Walleye?? Lakers?? ......and what about all those fish caught during the Salmon derbies that win big prizes???....Guess all the prizes should go back ????? Just my 2 cents..... Meely
  17. Me, Buckster and another "non-OFC" buddy headed up to Pigeon Lake last weekend. We figured we'd spend a few days targeting nothing but Skis. For the longest time we had been told by the local "old-timers" that trolling deep water would not produce any fish and that shallower "weedier" water is where we should concentrate our efforts. So, bein the stubborn "eye-talians" that we are we headed out early Saturday morning for the first of 5 days of fishing concentrating on nothing but deep, barren waters. Saturday Morning: Woke up to a down-pour. Around 9 am "ish" the rain stopped and we had blue skies with pop-corn clouds for most of the day. We headed out.......water temp=70 degrees, slight winds out of the south-west, lure of choice......10 inch jointed believers. We began trolling a section of the lake that was deep.... 30 - 40 feet........ We set up our lines and began trolling.....within 10 minutes of trolling.........BAM !!.....FISH ON !! We boated our first Ski...... Snapped a quick pic and let her go.....unharmed. We set up our lines again began trolling.......and after trolling another 600 yards....guess what.......YUP!!...WHAMMO......another hit....FISH #2 on !!.....here she is...... We trolled until 3 pm and decided to call it a day as I had a few chores to do around the cottage. Sunday: We headed out in the morning to skies that were a mixture of everything, Sun, clouds, etc. We ventured to the same area we had fished the day before and began trolling again....This time we clipped on an orange 10 inch Jake to one of our lines. Found the magic trolling speed to be around 3.5 miles per hour. After an hour of trolling....WHAMMO.....Fish #3 for the weekend.......another purtee little girl.....this one coming off the rod with the 10 inch Jake. So far we are thinking..."WOW.....not a bad few days so far"........Well it got even better......boy I tell you..........when it rains...it sure does pour !! We continued to troll all day and decided to head in around 5 pm as some pretty bad storm clouds were headin our way. But before we headed in we boated Musky 4 and 5 in the same area and #6 from an area off of Big Island...all trolling deep water.......which apparantly wasnt supposed to produce any fish !! Here are the pics. Musky # 4 Musky #5 Musky #6 Monday was spent finishing up my chores......no fishing. Tuesday we had clear blue skies and a really calm lake. We trolled all day....NOTHING !! Wednesday we deided to head out for a bit as we had a fe whours to spare before we headed home. We hit the water at approx. 10:30 am and began trolling an area in the north end of the lake. This time we had a nice little chop on the water with a semi-clear sky. We put out our lines, again loaded with jointed believers.......we hadnt trolled more than 10 minutes when ....BAMMO..........one of the rods goes off..........as soon as I pulled the rod out of the holder, I could tell I had a horse on. She took drag for about 50 yards before I could manage to gain any ground on her. I finally got her to the boat.......WOW.....what a monster....#7. This was by far one of the biggest Muskies I had ever caught !! Wanted to snap a pic of her...and guess what?? We forgot the camera back at the cottage !! DOH !! Thankfully , I had my cell phone with me. Not the clearest picture, but at least you get an idea......She was a beaut !! We snapped a picture and let her go. Best part of catching a fish like this is knowing she'll live to fight again another day.. One slap of her massive tail....and she was gone. Overall we had a good 5 days up north with 3 awesome days on the lake. So, the next time people say "nah...that wont get you fish "...or..."that will never work"..... dont always listen....cuz if we had....Im not sure how many fish...if any...we'd a boated. Now...I just gotta go visit JB's and get me a few more believers and another pack or two of 5 odd hooks. Thanks for listening..... Meely
  18. I'd drop Big Cliff a PM. He's into small engine repairs. I'm sure he can offer assistance. Meely

  20. A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police officer who was also a blonde. The blonde cop asked to see the blonde driver's license. The driver dug through her purse and was getting progressively more agitated. 'What does it look like?' she finally asked. The policewoman replied, 'It's square and it has your picture on it.' The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at it and handed it to the policewoman. 'Here it is,' she said. The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying, 'Okay, you can go. I didn't realize you were a cop." Meely Have a great weekend......
  21. I think it was Pigeon Fisher who said it best in a similar post a while back. When you boat the fish.....call it FAT !! If it starts to cry....probably female !! Meely
  22. I learned my lesson last summer. Dont ever take a Muskie's strength or predictability for granted !! I had a buddy of mine come up and try for muskie with his son for 2 days. We weren't trolling more than 20 mins when he lands his first ever musky on a Believer. As I was bringing her into the boat ,I noticed she was hooked by the last set of trebles. I can still remember telling my buddy...."this is how we end up in the hospital"..... I get her into the boat and as I am trying to remove the hooks he leans over to see the chompers on the pretty girl. Right at that moment she thrashes and drives the middle set of hooks into his arm. Thank god I had a decent pair of pliers in the boat and managed to quickly cut the hook and dash to the hospital ( we got nice pics of the fish and released her...unharmed). Anyhoo, since then....I have purchased extra long bent needle-nose pliers, a good pair of mini bolt cutters and a few packs of 5 odd trebles. Since this mis-hap, I no longer try to dig out hooks. I simply cut the hooks and replace the entire treble. It may cost a little more for the hooks but its well worth it NOT having to go to the hospital any more !! I have never even had a close call since switching to this techinque. Meely
  23. I bought a boat from them back in 2000. Price was great....post purchase service ....horrible. I had oredered a cover for my boat at the time of purchase. 8 weeks later, I still did not have it. When I followed up with the sales rep he told me it was on back order. What the rep did not know was I had already spoken with the manufacturer and they told me no mooring cover had ever been ordered with the boat. I mentioned this to the sales rep later....... funny....had the cover in 2 days. If price is all you want...go for it....if you are looking for post purchase service.....I probably would say no. Meely
  24. Nice Ride !!! I remember my first boat.....ahhh....the memories...... Enjoy !! Meely
