2 weeks ago, I took my vehicle to my GM dealership for an oil change and to have my passenger side headlight bulb replaced. I dont drive anything fancy, a 2003 Chevy Venture which thankfully hasnt given me any major problems to date. The following evening I noticed that when my lights came on, I had the small blue light in the dash come on indicating my high beams were on even though they were not. I then realized that the passenger headlamp high beam did not work. So, I says to myself, I'll bring it back in to the dealership to have a look as I did not have this problem prior to taking it in. After 20 mins or so, the service agent comes to me and tells me I will need a new headlight assembly.......and they could do it for.......you ready for this........ FOUR HUNDRED + dollars all included (Parts and Labour). I nearly CRAPPIED myself!! I then told them I could not justify dropping 4 clams on a head light assembly and asked them to prepare the vehicle as I was leaving. 10 mins later the same agent comes back to me in and states they could put a used one in for approx 300 + dollars , all in. I said thanks but no thanks....took my vehicle and left with my head shaking. I made a few calls to some friends and we began our search for a used assemlby from a scrap yard. As luck would have it, my buddy was in one this afternoon and noticed a ruined Chevy Venture with a perfect front end. He asked how much for the head lamp assembly and is told $75 bucks. Needless to say, he snags it for me and we head to my buddy's place to try and install it. On the ride over to my buddy's place I asked him what kind of tools we would need to install it. He says to me "Just make sure you bring two fingers"!! I think hes kidding but boy was I wrong. We get to my buddy's place late this evening and commence changing the headlight assemlby. Can you believe it took us 20 minutes to change it completely and we use ABSOLUTELY NO TOOLS !!! 3 little plastic screws held it all together !! and it works.....GOOD AS NEW!! 75 bucks VS $400+ is one hell of a discount !!! It is no wonder GM is headed for the crapper. How can they justify charging those prices?? What a friggin joke !! .....................Ok...I'm done ranting!! Meely

Crappie??? Are there Crappie in the Kawarthas?? Have never caught "a single" Crappie in years !! Meely J/K ........Rice lake is the place. Problem is, like many, many, many other spots, most of the really good spots to shore fish is now Private Property etc......Thanks to all the slobs who ruin for the rest of us. I can recall fishing out of Kewsick years ago and hammering Crappie all day long. Well, those days are loooong gonzo !! Gotta find myself a nice private spot where I can eat my fill.

Here is my advice...... Wait until you can put aside the $350 and get a Vexilar. You will not be disappointed. I have the FL-8 model and have been using it for 3 year now. It will change how you ice fish and also make you wonder how you ever fished without one before. Meely

Cliff, Not sure if I can get away for any weekend/over nighter trips this year...... BUT ......remember......me and Buckster got you booked in for one day (at least) of Whities once Simcoe freezes over good and solid. Meely

A few words of advice...... MAKE PHOTOCOPIES OF ALL YOUR PAPERWORK and file in a safe place !!! I've heard horror stories.....(I was fortunate) ! Meely

WTG Cliff !!! I was certified last December for my gun and hunting licenses. I was certified in March for my Turkey. I didnt think I had it in me to bring down an animal as big as a deer. Well....2 weeks ago (on my 3rd trip to the stand), we were hunting up past Bolton. I was fortunate enough to have 2 does come out in front of me and my new Excalibur Equinox. I put her in the cross hairs and whammo....she didnt go 30 yards either !! I was shaking and I dont know how I didnt fall out of the tree stand !! Talk about an ADRENALIN rush !! and dont you worry.......We'll be up yer ways to give it a shot (pardon the pun) the weekend after this !! We'll drop in and say hello....if yer door is open. Hello Gang, Sorry for the late report..... Had friends come up to the lake with hopes of trying our Musky luck again last weekend. Man oh man was the fishing tuff. We fished for 5 hours Saturday and managed nothing but one major "SWIPE" at our lures. Boated NADDA ! Sunday, we tried our luck again and hit nothing for the first 3 hours. We then decided to try our luck on another section of the lake and within 30 mins, we boated 2 nice skis and one gorgeous pic. The pic weighed in just over 7 pounds and smacked a 10 inch believer.
