  1. This is meant to be a feel-good story. Out of respect for the guys involved, please keep it that way.... http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/04/09/cnnhe...lson/index.html
  2. The loons found and used in this study had jigs..full hook jigs..wedged in their stomachs. They were doomed no matter the material. Birds pick up pebbles close to shore which is the least likely place to find lead sinkers...but lead shot from hunting was found to be a factor since discharge in areas that the fowl regularly use was obvious. That caused the ban on lead shot and lead poisoning has since not been tied to Canadian waters.
  3. I love all this hullabaloo. There is only one problem with the statements made..lead is inert in fresh water...chemistry..know it, embrace it.
  4. There's an old saying about goldens... The reason Golden retriever puppies are so cute is so you won't kill them. GR pups are absolutely hell untill they are two..then by five they kinda mellow out. Mine's not aware he is 8 this year. STILL very puppyish.
  5. Well...you just had a bunch of Canadians saying they don't mind because they know it is the price of enjoying NY's amazing fishing. We charge them about the same to fish here..so its not a big deal. Even at $70 I doubt they get back what it costs to have a non-taxpayer use their resources. Compared to other jurisdictions, it does not seem out of line...no pun intended . NY does far more than we do for the salmonid resource.
  6. Ours hasn't gone up in years. I think putting it up 10 bucks a year would be a good thing as long as the knobs in chrage don't cut the budget by the same amount that would be gained for the SPF.
  7. Maybe Wayne can parachute you in....hovercraft seems the only way unless you get lucky and find an opening before the flood hits. None of the Bombardier guys in North Bay have one??
  8. I think its free, so its awesome the way it is.
  9. You cannot control which kind of fish you catch for the most part. But if you are intentionally trying to catch a fish that is not in season, you are breaking the law. But if you accidentally catch a pike that is not in season, just release it as soon as you can and it is not a problem.
  10. Dang. Amazing stuff! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
  11. From the side it doesn't look like an onion!! lmao....
  12. Nice pics! What is the structure they are building behind it? Parking garage??
  13. Any claim without a picture is just a story....
  14. There should be no question here. What greater ethical obligation do we have than to follow the law? A fish not caught legally goes back...end of story. Possession rules usurp wastage rules without question. Otherwise, as has been stated, there are those who would claim all fish whether over limit or in slot or out of season were not revivable and keep them.
  15. It won't get better if you put out info on the internet that helps poachers, either. It is not a well known place, so you should quietly enjoy the show.
  16. Don't forget you can use http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/ to access the site!
  17. Thats the normal greeting here.
  18. Well anything that lives in Lake O and feeds off of salmon and Lake Trout can't possibly be bad for you could it??? You must have some serious filet skills!!
  19. I am very curious... You have only ever made two posts here, last year about the same time to announce another walleye spawn. I do not think it is much of a stretch to imply you are encouraging people to go at night in search of these fish..but to what avail? I am editting out the location since you seem to be encouraging the misuse of resources. I may be wrong, but I'd rather not take the chance.
  20. Lake eels perhaps, but lampreys??? Alot of your resource dollars go to killing them. They are like the cormorants of the fish world.
  21. They are very harmful and I believe you are supposed to kill them. It was a rule at one point but not sure if it is still.
  22. I just installed a new laminate floor in my kitchen 2 days ago. Did it myself with little fuss..okay some cussing...read the instructions and go. By a installation kit from Home Depot..handy items with it.. Cost me $120 to do my kitchen. Home depot has the regular underlay for $24 a roll.
  23. No one was bending any rule. No where does it state you have to stop fishing when you have a limit. No where does it state you cannot fish for fish with zero possession limits. No where does it state you cannot fish for slot limit fish. If they are in season and in a legal place you can fish. Period. It is not implied or stated. The MNR does not set the rules, Parliament does. The Act(s) is the rules, the MNR publications are summaries and are NOT the rules...they are the Cole's Notes of the laws.
  24. It only applies to attached images...not ones posted by URL. Our disc space is now over 60% of capacity, so I would like it to be around 40%. I'll see how much we lose by optimizing and doing up the database first....I know our database is around 30 GB. Hope I never have to do a back up..that will wipe out my transfer from my ISP for the month..lol.
  25. You can also check out www.naturalwondersangling.com The only drawback to fishing the river is that it is easy to get stopped by US Customs or Coast Guard even though you dont think you are on the other side of the border....keep a NY license and your passport with you. But talk to the guide and let him know Canada ONLY and they will keep you close to our shores.
