  1. We will be doing database, software and server maintenance this Saturday night. There may be moments where the site is slow or you get an error. We will be optimizing the database and recounting and rebuilding site posts, members, etc. So our post and member count will drop to its correct level. Deleted posts and members numbers don't get dumped out of the database untill we do such a thing. Also attachments not viewed in more than 3 months will be removed..I think 3 months is appropriate. Anyone objecting is free to say so. We will attempt also to procure more resources for busy days and set things up to give preference to out MySQL server.
  2. Generally, the more hype a virus gets, the less of a threat it is. The quiet ones that no one knows about until its too late are the ones that'll get you.
  3. Didn't get me. So much hype for nothing I am thinking. People calling me for days asking what to do. Forget about it...keep your AV and operating system updated and you are safe as you can be.
  4. I think you are much better off in a tin boat down there this time of year.
  5. Slot limits and seasons force us to release dead fish all the time. If you want to make an argument based on ethics, it is a tough road. Some would question the ethics of fishing during the spawn. Some see no problem with it. I would imagine portable livewells will be very popular very soon.
  6. I'd ask the CO where in the Act it says what he is stating. The summaries are not the law, the Act is. The Act makes no reference to these situations. It merely says you cannot possess the fish and possession is loosely defined by case law as handling of the fish so that a reasonable person could determine release is not intended. Putting the fish on a stringer is an example...but with the new culling laws, as long as you have a livewell, you are good to go all day.
  7. Bernie is a mechanic. I am not. Therefore, I am with Bernie.
  8. It is the same if you had 4 in the freezer at home. You can fish all you want, but the fish go back. Remember, these are possession limits, not catch limits. You can also fish musky with a conservation license, you just can't keep one. Some say that is unethical..but it is not illegal. Anyone telling you otherwise should be told to charge you or leave you alone. There is nothing in the Act that defines immediately releasing..it is only in the summaries and even there it implies that taking a pic of a fish you cannot possess is fine. Otherwise pics of fish in the slot could not be photographed.
  9. Hmmm...reminds me to be careful what I say here...lol
  10. Just remember TJ..it is acceptable in many Carribean countries for women to go topless..however it may not be a good idea for you to do it. There are poachers and you may be mistaken for a bear or Cupra Chabra or something.
  11. Wow..less than 12 hours! http://www.google.ca/search?q=pregnotropic...lient=firefox-a
  12. Just noticed the google bot was in so i wanted to invent a word and see how long it takes to get indexed. Feel free to join in. Invent a new fish then see it in google!
  13. I would check the dilithium crystal matrix.
  14. Someone forgot to reset our bandwidth allotment when we moved over to the new private server...I will be sending emails tomorrow to certain people in Virginia.
  15. That is incorrect. All license fees and fines and fees attributed to angling and/or violations of angling go to the MNR Special Purpose Fund. The MNR is the only Ministry with such a fund.
  16. Please...don't do this again. If you need to ask why, then maybe you should find another place to hang out.
  17. Maybe he buggered off and gave her peace and quiet for a day. Happy birthday, Nique!
  18. As I am sure you know we got kicked off our old shared server. This was at first quite puzzling to us....we didn't seem to be doing anything unusual, but the site stats tell all. By the end of today we will have had quarterly stats as listed... Total page views.....2,690,000 ...Second best all time..best 1st quarter ever Unique visitors...........640,000 ...New record for most visitors..by quite a decent margin Hits.....................45,000,000 ...New record Database queries...40,000,000 ...New record by a country mile..which is why we got kicked So ends the geek stats report. Our new server is running just peachy and I still can't even understand half the new stuff I get to play with. We will be looking at things like increasing PM inbox max, image sizes and other things we can increase as soon as I can find out what our total disc and database capacities are. As a side note to advertisers....you will not find a website on earth charging as little as we do for our banner ads with comparable traffic. Support your local anglers and buy a banner.... Members and visitors, please support our sponsors and turn off ad blocking on our site. Not much to ask for to keep this place going. (I sound like one of the public television ads..lol)
  19. Wishing you guys all the best and hope the levees hold. It was truly inspiring to see so many people, friends, neighbours and complete strangers pitching in en masse to help. I hope it works! It is in trying times like this you really get to see the good side of humanity. Hope our friends downstream on the Red in Canada are getting ready, too!
  20. Its supposed to even be W3C compliant !! Hmm...we need a fainting emoticon. As long as it is still tied into the ActiveX I won't touch it unless I have to.
  21. Many of the non-SLR have the ability to run CHDK software which gives you complete control of every setting. I run it bootable from the SD card and am now playing with different exposures, etc.
  22. If you are around zebra mussels, flouro is a big piece of insurance.
  23. Just the time of year. Normal stuff. We have extra staff on hand for it...lol.
  24. There are just way too many possible forum and sub-forum titles to consider breaking it all down. It is possible the site may grow a static information section at some point, but it would be off the board..and I really don't even know if that will happen. The current format is very user friendly and that little search button up top does wonders. There are only a few giant fishing boards and they all have one thing in common...95% of the posts and traffic are on the main section. With the massive increase in posts and traffic, it is hard to keep up as it is. We were already kicked off a server a few times for killing other sites and are now running on a dedicated server...I know that may not mean much, but what it means is we have lots and lots of people here and this current format has worked extremely well. It was not by any ingenious design, it was just the way it grew.
  25. Thanks, Steve! Reading their site now.
