  1. This, some years back some Cleveland Indians players were killed and injured down in Florida while out fishing, I believe they hit a dock while running at night. Fishing should be a no wake zone?
  2. Welcome, consider me crazy, but I don't know if I would even consider buying a home on a lake that I hadn't spent some time on and was happy with?
  3. I have never fished in Michigan, a bit more info on your game plan might help with suggestions? Are you taking a boat? Planning on camping or a resort? Species you have an interest in fishing for? Time of year for your trip?
  4. I have no idea what is in your area, but here in Ohio there are a number of bass fishing clubs, some have boat owners and non boat owners. The boat owners in one of the ones I was in would draw before a tournament for a non boat owner partner, even if bass fishing is not your primary interest it opens doors to meet people and find other fishing opportunities. A lot of people can't afford or justify the expense of boat ownership, especially a 60+ mile an hour bass boat. It's also a good way to learn how other people fish, the methods they use and destinations they chose.
  5. Don't go out if the water is cold if you're going to push your luck. Stay with the boat, it makes bodies easier to find.
  6. I might have to try that Brian, my mini screwdriver slips out too easily.
  7. I have a pair of xuron split ring pliers that work very well on most split rings, but I am trying to open the split rings on size 1 ball bearing swivels, and they are tiny. I have MS too and my hands don't work well, so it may just be me and not the pliers?
  8. Nice work Brian! Would you happen to know of a split ring pliers that work on very small split rings?
  9. yep, yep, hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays.
  10. When I was able to fish? I went, whether someone else to go with was available or not. LOL, now I have to sit on my arse and slowly go crazy watching fishing videos!
  11. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/alberta-has-2-500-cougars-biologist-says-hunting-popular-in-the-province-1.3731525 LOL! Some only stalk celery?
  12. Nice! Good to know you haven't fished PAB out yet!
  13. I am 25 miles south of Lake Erie, it has been colder here the last couple of weeks than normal the last few years for December. I woke up to 6-8 inches of snow on the ground, that is probably the most I have had on the ground here the last couple of years. http://pics.cleveland19.com/Media/26620385 Cambridge is close to 100 miles southeast of me, LOL do the animals know what the weather will be? Our news channel reported that there has been over 50 sightings of those birds the last few weeks, normal is 6? Well it was a picture of a snowy owl, where did it go?
  14. Not sure how it works or your route down there in a smaller boat, but if you are more than 12 nautical miles off shore you are in international waters? Does the time limit rest?
  15. I could believe that they are more closely related to smallies just from watching videos of people fishing for them. I watched another video of a couple of guys fishing the same lake as the other video for spots, dropshotting in 40 to 70 feet of water for them. Over the years fishing I caught a couple of bass in inland lakes here that have both and had to do a double take to tell which one it was. The colors were strange for a smallie, the mouth size was strange for a largie.
  16. LOL, old, none here except maybe in the Ohio river? Just from watching some videos? their mouths aren't as big as a largemouth, even though they look a lot alike to me.
  17. That's dedication! Don't worry about the blood, that white stuff on the ground scares me more!
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoat There is a pic of one killing a rabbit on that link, it doesn't look like they could drag it away?
  19. Cool! maybe it wants a ride?
  20. http://www.lakeofthewoodstourism.ca/fishingregulations No idea how accurate that is, but watch your open seasons?
  21. Great pics! Cool to see wildlife in action! LOL @ trash pandas!
  22. http://thefirstcast.ca/ http://www.pierowayrods.com/ http://www.rodbuildersupplies.com/ A search on google turned up these, there are probably others?
  23. Actually I was a city - local area - dock man for a number of trucking companies, a few times I even made road trips, although short ones by most standards. The different companies and the way their terminals were located used different definitions of their local areas. Ya, Youngstown and any other place within 100 miles of Cleveland were destinations, it made for long work days. Once you get outside of the tourist destinations any city has it's " problem areas "? I didn't get paid to be a tourist, so I saw it all! LOL When you work with 50 - 100 + guys can you really know what some are up to? It's best to limit your involvement?
  24. I got to work one day and they had the parking lot cordoned off with yellow tape and a cop standing guard, everyone had to park in another lot nearby. I asked the cop what was up with that? You don't know? Dude, I just work here, I know nothing! A couple guys got blown up by a bomb when they started their car.
