  1. Mike, Taking any hitchhiking OFNers? Shall I have the sign made out Kenai river, Alaska? And where's my best bet to be seen on your route? Okay, where's the extra batteries for the camera and don't for get the memory cards! Serious, sounds like another great trip in the works for sure. (Very Envious) Look forward to the fish porn when you get back. Stan
  2. I'll chime in with the Notty being a bit warm still but few salmon have been caught over the past weekend (all that I know of anyways). A quick note to those to remember to bring the waders, the water is higher than last year and there isn't much space unless you're in the water. Stan
  3. Brian, congrats on the arrival of your new baby grand daughter! I hope all the family are doing well!
  4. Truly sad news indeed, my deepest condolences to Gary's family. May he rest in Peaceful fishing pond in the heavens.
  5. WTG Cliff on your new PB! What a smile on that pic too!! Good going bud and keep'em coming. BTW which color were you casting?
  6. Great looking fish LEW! Glad to hear the family are resting up and well on their way to recovery!
  7. Truly a disgusting show of poor sportsmanship, rules are put in for a reason, if one person gets too much leniency then others will either claim favoritism or whine about why they didn't get the same leniency call. In this case, one minute was given, the coach should have told the athlete that time was running out, one minute passed and by the books the ref had to look at the situation and figured a broken toe and over a minute rest warranted disqualification. Good on the ref, but bad show from the athlete. Perhaps too much testosterone running through the body overpowered any reasonable thinking, but that's why the coach is supposed to be there to help him think it through.
  8. Sorry to hear about your loss, my condolences to you and your family.
  9. try a dab of crazy glue or loctite super glue at the top where the tube jig meets the jig head.
  10. Okay, I'll admit it, I'm land-locked (usually) when it comes to fishing. It just makes it all that more special when I can get out on the lake to fish in a boat.
  11. Wow and double wow! Thanks for sharing the pics of that monster, it's good to hear that those monsters can be caught casting too!
  12. Great report (Part 1 and Part 2)! You definitely have a little piece of heaven there and it's great to have you report on it from time to time for people like me who can only wish to be able to do it. Thanks Mike for sharing, Stan
  13. Thanks Mike for the afternoon fish porn! What beautiful scenery and great fishing to boot! I've got to get on your fishing list! Your reports are killing me. Stan
  14. I recall Womens' wrestling was mentioned on the news.
  15. WTG Brian, on the weight loss. I for one had lost about 40# from Oct '07 to Feb '08 only to regain most (if not all) of it back due to my weakness of reverting back to the bad eating habits. Keep it up and don't give in to the cravings!! Stan
  16. Awesome work Matt and MC!
  17. Rich, Anything is game for me, I haven't been out fishing since the kid's derby at the beginning of July. Would likely be renting a boat and casting for fish, so walleye, bass, muskie, trout, or other fish worthy of snapping a pic of. Dang, the trip is too early to meet up with you. Stan
  18. Hey All, Okay, I'm almost certain I'll be going to the French river to do some fishing with a friend. Neither of us are familiar with the area and would like to seek some help from here. Planned date: Tues and Wed Aug 26, 27th. Anyone have info on boat rentals? PM me any other hints if you can spare them, like what lures might work, roughly where to start off, etc, (not looking for someone's personal hot spot). Thanks, Stan
  19. Glen, good to see you getting into fish even though you left the house late. But wow, that's some warm water there at the top of the column.
  20. Okay, anyone what to chime in on the specifics for the Ottawa River or area? If there's muskie around, I'll toss out my 12" double bladed torpedo muskie lure just for you (the lure still has to be Christened by it's first fish anyways).
  21. Thanks Mark Adams, The French river is sounding good right now. Considering a day of guided fishing (since we're not familiar with the area) that looks like the range of $260-305/day according to Bear Den's Lodge website. However, my friend's rate is unmatchable for the accomodations (under $50 for the night) so I might be booking closest (maybe parry sound) and then do another day trip in the area before heading back. Option #2 is looking at the Salmon derby in Owen sound area, but don't know about how much the charters will be for that. Note: Nothing against the Kawarthas at all, I just want to try somewhere different for a change. Thanks, Stan
  22. Okay, Maybe I forgot to mention I'd consider anything within a 3.5-4 hr drive (one way of course) from T.O. area. Stan
  23. Hey Gang, I need some suggestions on where to try to fish. I've got a couple of days marked off for fishing with a friend of mine this last week of august and would like to try somewhere new like, Georgian bay or the Haliburtons (we usually fish the Kawarthas). Any fish species is open but we have no boat so we'll either shore fish or rent a boat if available. My friend requests that I look for a travelodge or comfort inn in the area as he has a special company discount. We're not looking for some expensive charter or anything, just the normal kick back and fish type of outing. Any reasonable suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Stan
  24. Aerosol bug spray with a lighter?!!
