  1. Nice report...yours is the weekend I wanted!
  2. Thanks for those who posted your funny pics. Here are some in return This fish was lassoed through the gills...the hook is with the seaweed. This little guy really wanted this fish. This is what occasionally happens when you try to take your own fish picture. Slippery when wet. His filleting skills need honing. It sure is bugy out there. Man, this dude really wants a fish dinner...NOW! Never bring your rods that still have lures on them into the cabin. Your wife won't like that at all! After being teased, this dude does a mock demonstration on why bringing pads out to the bush is a good idea. "The ability of those things to simply absorb blood is AMAZING"!
  3. Seems like you enjoy yourself in whatever weather the gods throw at you. Didn't I see a thread of you fishing in subzero weather this last fall?
  4. Back in the day when my daughters were young it was the barbie rod or the purple dinosaur rod!
  5. YOu buddy are hardcore...surprised you napped at briefly just before sunrise. Lots of nice big fish! Far better then looking at those welterweight bows and walleye on the other weekend reports.
  6. --> QUOTE(Jason B @ May 17 2008, 10:10 AM) 202873[/snapback] The guy charged is a real ass to start. I've been confronted by him while fishing whitemans. He's in court the 17th so maybe i'll go give that pond a try. Now that is funny. What about his half brother Ned...the one with the lazy eye?
  7. I've been and wouldn't be going back if the fishing wasn't good...as with all family vacations you can fish early in the morning, evening, and they don't begrudge you fishing in the rain.
  8. I've seen people fish from shore for salmon, casting little cleos....I've also seen people catch small sharks. I'm not aiming to trample all over dainty creeks and such fer trout...simply I want more fishing then a charter and the big bucks that costs on a daily basis.
  9. WIll be on VI in July and will have 2 days to kill (July 10-12th) before we stay in Tofino for a week. I'll do a charter but wouldn't mind fishing in the morning before the family is awake and ready. We will have to stay some where along the way and just wanted to throw this out to get some ideas. Also DIY opportunities in Tofino would be appreciated.
  10. No worries, to separate lakes. The pike and specs never had the chance to meet. We used small spinners and small rapellas, both worked equally well. I like catching specs plenty but they don't get my heart racing when all hell breaks lose with a massive gator on the other end of the line.
  11. Went fishing south of Timmins this last weekend. There is still some snow up there. It was the first time I had fished with Dan, we had never met but talked for years over the internet. He was an awesome host and taught me a thing or three. We fished specs in the morning on this lake. They were aggressive Saturday and gun shy Sunday. I'm enjoying Saturday morning here. Caught about a dozen for a couple hours work. Later in the day we spent a lot of time looking into water like this. ...or this, but the lake was still too cold to see dem' gators up shallow. We could only could find a few juveniles scattered around the lake, both deep and shallow. Saw three new species of birds, a black bear, two moose, and what I am guessing is a male partridge. This dude wouldn't let me past on my way home. His partner on the side of the road ran away into the bushes. Women! It was nice to be out on the water again finally and in a beautiful corner of the world.
  12. The only question that came to my mind when reading this thread was: was Sleded drinking before this picture was taken? Another question I like to know the answer to is how "sleded" got his nickname. Did alcohol play a part in the germination of this moniker?
  13. mothers day get this....I'm skipping out on the weekend of our 22nd wedding anniversary. That's why I always buy my wife jewelery several times a year for no particular reason.
  14. Ya hit the jackpot! Can't win if you don't play. Wonderful fish.
  15. I like SP's reports better then BBR's reports, there are more fish!
  16. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics.
  17. Nice fish Bly and Jr. Bly!!! You did okay too ccmt.
  18. What a great story! I'm smiling now as I re-imagine it! Holding up those huge reels...the only thing I can relate it to would be Sturgeon fishing in BC. Were there any long drawn out battles where they fought like bulldogs...was it a totally exhausting fish?...or was it simply repeated bursts of super activity and acrobatics, followed by an easy reel of a spent fish? Lots and lots of frayed 100 pound fluro, I can't even picture it...even the size of these fish are mind boggling....
  19. I'm looking for a little more detail. I'm sure there were some good stories. 80 pound Poon...Most people have never even battled a fish 1/2 that size. The fight, was it simply sweat dripping down your forehead with your arms screaming in pain after 15 minutes, or was it give in take? Those massive reels...250 yards on the run? Tarpon jump a lot...were they acrobatic ...and when you got them to shore, they were all tuckered out?..it doesn't sound like they were if they had there way with you. A few stories of the best or most memorable battles of the week would be much appreciated. This is the type of fishing I might like to do in the future, I want to hear MORE!
