  1. I was at Emily Provincial park last summer. There are 3 possible fishing points there if I recall correctly. My advice would be to go nightfishing at the docks which have a lot of lighting which attract baitfish and their predators. Specifically, I had good luck catching nicely sized crappie off the dock. Just toss it as far away from the dock as possible, if I recall water depth was about 2-5 ft. I caught the crappie on small white twister tail worms, I think the reflection of the light off the white color was attractive. The sign says no fishing but I don't think anyone would mind as long as you're not too many ppl and not littering. Good luck! The dock I am talking about is the one where they store personal watercraft like pedalboats and the like.
  2. Hi all, been hitting Stoney every 2 weekends this summer, been catching lotsa fish but no biggies to date. Was supposed to have the cottage this weekend but luck would have it friend was sick so cancelled. My sister has been wanting to fish since seeing my fish pictures, and I took her on her first fishing trip ever! What better place than Stoney lake? I'm ticked off I left the camera here but am sure will get a bigger fish later. So start off near an island, teaching her how to drop a line in the water, on a shiny red hook with no bait. Whatcha know, this bass took the plain hook and got hooked! What a start I find for beginners or lazy ppl, wacky rigging senko + drop shot weight is the way to go. She managed to hook 5 bass on her own, thats not bad! As for me, I got what I came for. I came for quality this time, not quantity. I got it on a jigged pink diamond tail yamamoto senko, my biggest bass on Stoney at about 3.5 pounds, nothin huge but for me it is. Think about 18 inches, was so happy to get it. Almost had a heart attack cuz my sister was havin a tough time netting it, I thought it would jump off for sure just like my last biggie on Buckhorn. Luck would have it, I got it! So all in all a great day, would of loved to take pictures, but I'm happy both my goal of a big bass and other goal of gettin sister hooked on fishin worked! As was typical, the bite pretty much completely died after 11am. All our biggest fish were caught between 8am and 10am. Stoney lake tip, pink is a HOT HOT color right now, tight lines everyone. We caught our bass on a nice long shoal with a long dropoff on the side, and 3 small rock islands stickin out. When the big bass hit it felt like weeds or a small one, until it PULLED, half my rod was in the water for the fight hehehe. No rest for the wicked.
  3. I don't know why ppl have hope for the Leafs, it doesn't matter which players get traded. It starts by changing up the MANAGEMENT from the top down. The management of this organization/business is great if talking only in terms of profits, in terms of pride respect or winning hockey team it is the absolute worst. A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expect different results. I for one don't expect the leafs to make the playoffs again, I don't know what to think of ppl who do... (see previous sentence).
  4. It's very interesting. I go fishing every 2 weekends. Last year almost all of them happened to be total rain, and storms, sucked. This year, we been gettin REAL LUCKY in that it seems to rain except when we're on the water, and lightly. Crazy thing too is, last time I fished which was right after a storm, in a cold front, I had my best performance of the year! And finished right before a hard long rain came down for the entire night. I think it's karma, I feel that the kawartha lakes spirits have protected me for the sacrifices I have made in its honor.
  5. Exactly. These are Canadian citizens, by law, they have the same rights as you or me. It is our country's responsibility to defend its citizens, don't give no Bull about how you are more Canadian than they are. For people to sit here and claim they are more 'Canadian' than they are is quite pathetic. We have a legal system, legally they are Canadian as any of us, so don't try to pretend you're superior cuz you were born here or you've been here a few years longer. You know who the REAL Canadians are? NATIVES. Perhaps its an inconvenient truth. They are more Canadian than any of us will be, the original natives and inhabitants of this land.
  6. Why fishing is better than making love: * When you go fishing and you catch something, that's good. If you're making love and you catch something, that's bad. * Fish don't compare you to other fishermen neither. And don't want to know how many other fish you caught. * In fishing you lie about the one that got away. In loving you lie about the one you caught. * You can catch and release a fish, you don't have to lie, and promise to still be friends after you let it go. * You don't necessarily have to change your line to keep catching fish. * You can catch a fish on a 20-cent frozen squid. If you want to catch a woman you're talking dinner and a movie minimum. * Fish don't mind if you fall asleep in the middle of fishing.
  7. I would suggest definately going out with someone who has fished before, you will catch more fish and learn a lot quicker than teaching yourself.
  8. I got a bunch of nice shakey head jigs from Cabela's online store earlier this year, worth it if you're buying in bulk to cover shipping.
  9. Hmmm was thinking the cold front would make for a tough fishing day, however it turned out to be the best performance so far this summer! Fished Stoney lake, and boy was the bite ON!!! Hopefully will post a report on it soon...
  10. I've caught decent bass on small chunks off a bigger 6" senko. Like a 2" chunk works quite well also....
  11. nice report we did a field trip to the Warsaw caves in high school for geography, a very cool place to explore...
  12. Also, last trip I have rigged the regular senkos w/o a twister tail texas style, and it worked fine as well! But I'd prefer wacky if theres not too much weeds.
  13. If they are regular fat senko worms, wacky style. Why? It just works, and its good if you feel lazy. If the senkos have twister tails on them, I like to rig them carolina or texas style. Haven't seen yamamoto senkos with twister tails at BPS or LeBaron's, but ordered a bunch from Cabela's in the winter and theyve been workin great for bass and perch.
  14. I don't care what industry you are in, the basis for all North American industries today is oil. Oil prices reaching a high enough level will impact any industry, as that is the base for the present economy.
  15. This economic collapse is being ENGINEERED, in order to bring about the situations in which even more government control of the population is possible. Things happen in cycles folks, one need to only look to last century to find many similarities between govt and its ppl. There are a tonne of resources on the net to learn about these things, one only needs to be able to think and analyze events and facts for themselves to see where we are heading. Whether or not this will happen, time will tell, I sure hope not. But understand there are those in power seeking even more power and control. Many events in the world are engineered to bring about the desired consequences. $200 / barrel oil was announced as a target last year, it is almost there. If you think the prices are bad now, wait a year... In the end it will come down to we the ppl vs the govt. These are the same reasons the USA was formed and broke off from the British. I think its better that ppl face up to the reality, and do something about it, then pretend it isn't happening and wait till it happens to figure out what to do. My 2 cents.
  16. pardon my ignorance, what's a G2G?
  17. Nice one, Stoney's great for bass gonna be headin up this weekend again... which part of the lake were you fishin?
  18. I've been to Lower Buckhorn a few times, also renting from Sunrise Resort. My last trip there was 2 Sundays ago, after a Saturday on Stoney. Right by the boat launch, there is a floating square dock. Those weeds there have held loads of bass in the past, I remember catching about 14 bass in one hour there 2 summers ago, my most productive time ever. You will find smallmouth bass by the dam. And if you go through the channel, there is a bay on the left. The fishing was slow in general that day, however I did hook into my PB bass (if I had boated) in about 3 feet of water in the middle of the lillypads. For additional tips, ask the host, he's a great person and help! Dam is supposed to be good for walleye as well, but we didn't catch any in the evening... I still havent caught a walleye over 6" long
  19. Some people take their fish home to... EAT. Interesting on the illegality of selling it though, suspected it but never knew.
  20. ok -hole should replace 'excellent person' in my last post... stupid censors...
