  1. I would think temps drive the baitfish movements and the Pickereys follow closely behind... Now...it is entirely possible that the fish are being affected by all the angling pressure and may be seeking other areas with similar characteristics as the Bay without all the angling pressure

  3. You're most likely spending too much time fishing in ON
  4. 100 back is good, you could go the same out the side...
  5. Solid advice! especially during the week with fewer boats around to worry about.
  6. Check out the Search feature for this site http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...amp Tony
  7. Simply amazing It's great that you take the time out to get some quality photos of fish. Those wild fish sure look mean and lean, big difference to those 'other' fish that are in greater abundance south of the border
  8. Tie a yellow ribbon round the old... Very nice Solo!
  9. Diamond Hook sharpener! If you can't get Daiichi hooks, I personally like the #8 Gamakatsu Octopus hooks Cork floats in a larger size will be good if you are fishing deep/heavy current and need to load up with shot to get your bait down. Kemper has a good handle on the gear, I concur regarding leader material. If it is crystal clear water or pressured, you can get away with 4 or even 6lb flourocarbon.
  10. Good stuff HH! Looking forward to fishing the bay at least once more this fall and then hopefully on the hard stuff! Here is a pic of one that was around 9lbs caught recently Tony
  11. Just generalizing about access points. We are losing more and more public places to fish as urban sprawl occurs in Ontario. In new developments near water, angler access is not exactly on the list of important requirements. Another access point example...Queenston, ON VS. Lewiston NY (Directly across the river on U.S. soil). One has a beautiful double concrete launch ramp, washroom facilities, restaurant, ample parking, etc, etc. The other one has a dirt road leading to the launch, limited parking, and if you have to go #2...it's in the bush! The Ministry of Natural resources could learn a lot from the US departments of fish & game... Where exactly does the revenue generated from fishing and our ON license dollars go anyway? Last time I checked, the ones actually making a difference in Ontario are the NGO's...not the ministry.
  12. Ontario...taking it away USA...creating opportunities
  13. Kastmaster/Mr Champ Hawger Swedish Pimple Bring on the hardwater (After fall fishing season )
  14. Looking forward to watching the Leafs as a TRUE fan! I'm sick of the media saying they should TANK the season for better prospects...no fan ever cheers for their team to lose... It will be great to see the Leafs make the post season...and then watch all the nay-sayers jump back onto the bandwagon. Win or lose, HOCKEY is back and it's GREAT!
  15. Ugh...utterly amazing report, yet depressing at the same time lol! I wish we had those numbers in our Lake O. N. Shore tribs...
  16. Not in Southern Ontario, I would cross the border into NY and fish one of the highly productive rivers there. The runs are so large you'll be ruined for river fishing in Ontario forever...10, 20, 30 fish days are COMMON.
  17. What a tour, but it paid off in the end! Nice fish there (Chinook actually ) Tony
  18. It's usually deeper than 1 atmosphere of pressure or 33' of water when your run into problems. You can increase the survival of fish caught out of deep water by educating yourself on proper release techniques. Here is an informative link that is helpful http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/228130.pdf Tony
  19. You will be fined under the Trespass to Property act if you are caught fishing there. Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act has nothing to do with it... The city of Oakville is targetting anglers specifically on this one. As a result, they've lost my volunteer efforts for Bronte Creek rehabilitation (tree planting, creek cleanups, etc) Get use to it fellas, public fishing access points will continue to be closed down/developed/posted as there are too many anglers with complete disregard for the environment (littering profusely) Like all things in life, a few rotten apples spoil the bunch. Tony
  20. Best of luck to your friend. I have seen more tackle shops close than open in recent years... She is competing against the giants such as Lebarons and even worse, cabelas.com... Very difficult for the local shops to stay in business without offereing some kind of value-add that is unique and can draw upon a larger market then just the local anglers. Tony
  21. Nice fish... "Tried the photobucket editor and pressed 'beautify' and it blurred my face. So i guess it did 'beautify'" Hahaha thanks for the laugh.
  22. I'm boycotting 'em all besides Shell About the candidate thing...I think they are missing a vital option on the voting cards at election time. There needs to be a 'NONE OF THE ABOVE' option to select instead of having to pick the person who you think is lying the least. I can't be the only one who feels this way...and if enough people over time selected that option maybe candidates would base their campaign on what they can actually do, not how many promises they can make without being held to them.
  23. Great read, kudos to the BPS team and to you for being so keen to get everyone together Roger!
  24. Good stuff! You would have done well in the fish -off with those matures The BZ should be solid for a while still too, can't wait to get out there myself.
