  1. I personally am going to head up to the Moon Basin on GBay May 6th to try for the elusive eye's. I know that it is real hit and miss up there, but like to give it another try every few years. Often to opener is too late there because the fish have moved out and are hard to locate, but this year everything is really late, so I am hoping to nail them near the spawning areas.
  2. Craz, what does your M.I.L. have to do with it? Are you using her as chum?
  3. I hope that you really enjoy the new ride! The first scratch is the hardest part of getting a new boat. My poor wife made ours the first day out.
  4. Nice pics Mike. Where is your cabin? I'm having my getaway dug in the backyard right now.
  5. I recognize those two guys. That is Billy and Bob, aka Billybob!
  6. Holy shopping Wayne! It looks like the store is in your shop. By the way, do you have a PC or laptop in the shop? You seem to have an aweful lot of posts. LOL
  7. Okay, I have to say it; "There's one born every minute!"
  8. I'm with you Taper. I could never get mine to work at speeds over 15MPH with the flat bottom transducer that they sell with the Humminbirds
  9. I have dealt with a place in Bobcaygeon called Lakeside Sewing on many occasion. She does all of the custom work for Buckeye Marina. It is 1.2 hours from Newmarket and worth the drive. Give her a call. Here is the link Lakeside
  10. Usually ice does not sink. It crystalizes and breaks up into extremely small pieces.
  11. Send P3TA an email and ask them, then post it back here for a laugh!
  12. Well, Tim Hortons finally got their act together and created a truly worthy contest for all of those poor Leafs fans that blow hundreds, if not thousands of dollars every year on tickets and sports MEMORABILIA. Tim's thought that those poor fans desirved a chance to recoup some of their loses. Here is the new contest: This is the last cup that you will ever see with the name "Toronto Maple Leafs" on it!
  13. John, do you know the manager of the liquor store Eldon? He is an old friend of mine. I also know a local handyman named Barry Ley. Either of them ring a bell to you?
  14. I was lucky enough to see one soaring down 12 Mile Bay on GBay last summer. That was my first ever sighting.
  15. Wow that is too bad Hookset. I'm suprised that the meeting was held so soon after receiving the letter. They are suppose to give you a number of weeks notice so that you can prepare an arguement and present it to council. You should look into this. If all else fails, do you think that the new land owner would be interested in your property?
  16. John, have you thought about boat whips to keep the boat away from the dock? They are expensive but work very well. Here is a link from Cabela's: Cabela's Bass Pro at Vaughan Mills sells them locally. By the way, where on GB do you live?
  17. Rick made some really good points. I had a similar fight in Newmarket a few years ago. The first thing that I did was to get a coalition of concerned neighbours together in order to brain-storm our ideas. I also invited our local Councilor in order to get sound advice. He basically told us that passionate plea's fall on deaf ears. You have to make a sound argument such as; this doesn't fit in with the historic buildings in the area. A really good argument is the safety factor with the increased traffic flow. What will happen with all of the vehicles coming and going from the street? Are there allot of children playing in the area? Another possible argument is a possible environmental impact. Get a group together, make up one petition for all to sign, make form letters for people to individually sign and send in separately and if a number of you are to speak, make sure that what you say does not overlap each other or they will cut you short. Absolutely do not mention that "it will change the value of my property". They hate to hear that one. Also try to get the Councilor on your side. They can often swing the other votes there way. They often trade favours back and forth. Good luck!
  18. I personally love the Massasauga, but it is winderness camping. There are tons of back bays to fish and an abundance of Pike. You can easily and safely get around in your 12 footer. I use to use the same size boat there all of the time.
  19. You are correct that it is added to your home insurance policy. They will require a copy of your bill of sale with the serial numbers of all of the components, including the trailer.
  20. Fishingnut has it pegged correctly with the horsepower torque on the transom above and beyond the insurance issue. Never over-power a boat beyond the recommended rating. You also take a risk of being pulled over by the police, RCMP or Coast Gaurd and receiving a fine for over powering your vessel.
  21. I hate to say it Headhunter, but are you out of your !@$#$($ mind to go out on the ice at this time of year? That is like taking a snowmobile out on Simcoe in December. Do you not have a family or loved ones to think about leaving behind? Please wait for the soft water. Don't become someone that I read about in the Newmarket newspaper in the coming weeks.
