  1. A few pics have been added.
  2. What a great trip! It is amazing how quickly the Pike can chew up a lure.
  3. LOL!
  4. I just posted an ad for a friend in the classified section for one tough boat. If you have a place that requires a rugged work boat, this one is a beast. I've seen boats like this up on Georgian Bay break the top off of a shoal! Just kidding. Here is the link:Steel Boat
  5. Way to go Dutch! The fishing is great on Buckhorn.
  6. Great report Snag. I fish there all of the time. Did you venture out towards the islands at all?
  7. Nice One Eye, I mean Walleye Rizzo! Were you fishing Gbay or and inland lake?
  8. Wayne, I've said it before and I'll say it again; "you are one quality guy"! By the way, you need to take down your Evinrude poster now that you have a Merc!
  9. What a Basshole!
  10. Jeez, Wayne, it sounds like a Friday boat from Chrysler back in the 70's! You don't expect to hear that about Lund. I fact, that is the first time that I ever heard a complaint about Lund. I'm with Ron, that your marina, especially if they know you well, should had done a better PDI job. You do after all pay for the service on top of the boat. Just don't paint the boat bright yellow! I hope that everything gets fixed up really quickly for you. I remember the excitment in your posts last winter about getting this new puppy!
  11. They should be in 10 to 15 feet of water. I did not try rattles. We did not catch any Walleye that day but did have a follow up to the boat. We ended up going to a different spot and caught 3 pike in a short period of time. They ranged from 3 to 5 pounds. The minnows were purchased at the bait store in Fesserton on Hwy 12 just off Hwy 400. The locals only sell worms. The Walleye in my Avatar was caught and released at the basin in July a few years back. It was just over 7 pounds. My buddy had a 9 pounder the same day.
  12. I was fishing at the mouth of the falls on the 5th and the Walleye were still spawning, so you might still find them in Arnolds Bay. Pink jigs work well with 3" minnows this time of year. T he slot is 16 to 22 inches. You can keep them under this size and one over 22 inches with a possession limit of 4 per person. Good luck and post a report when you get back!
  13. Sorry to let the air out of your tires but the 15 HP still has a larger block then the 9.9 like it was back when I upgraded mine as mentioned eariler. The 9.8 is 209 cc's and the 15 is 323cc's which means that they are two different blocks. Your engine is maxed out. If you had an 8 HP you could move it up to the 9.9. I got this information from Mercury's website.
  14. I did this very thing to an old 1975 7.5 HP merc by moving it up to a 9.8 HP. The carburator gets adjusted and a larger exhaust port is added. I'm not sure about moving from 9.8 to 15, I believe that it is a different block. Contact Paul at Top Gun Marine, he did mine way back when. 905-775-0862
  15. Norm, be careful with deet around anything that contains plastic. It desolves plastic really quickly. I was at the Moon on May 3rd and the blackflies were just starting. The good news is that tomorrow and Thursday are suppose to be very hot in Ontario which usually kills off the blackflies!
  16. I purchased a deep cycle from Crappy Tire 3 years ago and it holds a decent charge. The battery was around $90. Last year I replaced my spare deep cycle with one from Bass Pro which was around $110 and it was much more battery for the money then the one from Crappy Tire. It holds a bigger charge thus lasting more hours on my trolling motor for not alot more money.
  17. What a great report Mike! Were you able to take a quick dip or was the water too cold?
  18. Terry, does it look familiar now? I thought for sure that you or way would have figured this one out! Map link
  19. Wayne, try this spot but to anyone that you visited the spot. N44 48.146 W79 55.718
  20. Sorry, I did not bother with pics because they were pike. My Brother-in-law had me take one of him and a fish only.
  21. I just got back from the Moon and had okay success. I went up there for Walleye and ended up with 3 Pike and no Walleye. The Walleye were still spawning up stream although we did have one follow up to the boat. I suspect that the minnows that I was sold were too large at 3 to 4 inches in length. The pike were in the 3 to 5 pound range and all caught in 9 feet of water with Repelas. There was also no wee growth on the flat that we were trolling over.
  22. I've had an Anchor Buddy for 3 years now and swear buy it. I just toss it out and it holds even in sand because the bungie cord takes up all of the shock. I tie up the boat with the bow out and tie the stern to shore. Then when I want to get the boat, I just pull in the line from shore and the anchor line goes tight. I once anchored the boat in 3 feet of water on Lake Huron in 3 foot waves and the boat did not move at all! Andy from Muskie Striker has a few left for sale I believe. If not, you can get them from Boater's World through their website.
  23. Norm; you won't be able to launch at Pete's Place unless you have a campsite in the park. You have to keep driving down the road to the Moon River Marina to launch for day trips. This will put you in Wood's Bay where you might have better luck. There are some islands in the bay with shallow weed beds around them. You will likely get Pike and Perch in these spots. Here is a mini map of the area.
  24. John; If I was planning on buying waterfront tomorrow and didn't want to break the bank but got what I wanted in waterfront, I would be looking in the Point Au Baril area on Georgian Bay. The highway will soon be 4 lanes all of the way there, and you are a half hour from the hospital in Parry Sound, which becomes a very important consideration as you get older. As for the area, the boating and fishing is unlimited with very clean water and you can't beat the scenery. On top of all of this, there is a liquor store in town. Does it get any better?
