  1. What they both said about the colour! Start at the southwest side of Big Island and stay on the west side. The water gets deeper as you travel north. Good luck!
  2. Happy Anniversary to you and Monique TJ. It is great to see a long marriage nowadays.
  3. It was Brad Pitt's brother Stu!
  4. Hey TJ, I love these posts and remember the first year that you posted pics from there. We are all getting older but still enjoying life! Question, if you turn Monique upside down in the boat with that hat on, how many channels can you get?
  5. Matty is a real cutie Barry!
  6. I understand the main two differences are that a Grizzly has the prominent hump above the front shoulders and cannot run down hill. A black bear and also a brown bear can both run down hill.
  7. Very exciting for a boy that age to catch a good size fish like that and release it back into the water. That looks like Pigeon Lake with the Big Island in the background.
  8. Wow Barry, they look like postcard shots!
  9. That reminds me of this old joke, one of my favourites! "Chretien's 'at" joke Prime Minister Jean Chretien was meeting with officials in Flin Flon, Manitoba. It was a very hot day and the ceremonies took place outside in a local grandstand. The Mayor was surprised to see that Chretien was wearing a large fox fur hat, despite the heat. After a while the mayor leaned over and spoke up. "Excuse me, Mr. Prime Minister, but I can't help wondering why you are wearing that fox hat when it is so warm?" Chretien shrugged. "Well, you know 'ow it is", he replied. "My wife, she is da dresser in da family, so I always take 'er advice. If I go to de Maritime, she say 'Wear da toque'. If I go to Calgaree, she say 'Wear da stetson'. Dis time she ask me where I go; I say Flin Flon. She say 'Flin Flon! Where the fock's 'at ?' So I did!"
  10. A couple of real lowlifes. It pisses me off to hear about people like this and any kind of thief in general. People like that should just get a job like the rest of us.
  11. Doug, They were being discharged down to a lower voltage for winter storage. They are 6 cell batteries and the voltage on one cell was off from the others. When this happens that bad cell will overheat and catch fire. Most power tools are low lithium batteries and they recommend not leaving the battery plugged in once full charged. Lithium is a great storage solution but quite volatile when overheated so people jut need to be aware and be careful. I brought it up here just to bring awareness to others.
  12. Here is a picture of the brick that the Amo box sat on in my basement. The second picture is the two batteries that caught fire in the Amo box. I am so fortunate that we found the fire and nobody was injured or killed. My wife smelled smoke and when we opened the basement door a billow of white smoke came at us. The smoke detectors did not work because we did not have the dual detector that picks up smoke and heat. Guess what I replaced every alarm with in my house when we moved back in? I am shocked that the fire services are talking up the hazards of Lithium batteries more. You can only put out the fire with a Class D extinguisher. Try to find one anywhere to have in your house. I am sure that Lew will comment on this being a retired fire fighter.
  13. Hey Cliff, Be careful not to let it run too low. Lithium batteries can overheat when the voltage gets too low and the cells can catch on fire when charging if the voltage is off on any one cell. Make sure to charge it out of the house somewhere safe. I use lithium batteries (LiPo) in my RC planes and had this happen a few years back. It ended up being a $65,000 insurance claim for smoke damage to my home. I was really lucky that I was charging them in an amo box on top of some bricks, otherwise my house would have burnt to the ground. Be safe!
  14. Very cool, what area of Ontario are you located in Barry?
  15. I have a 2000 Legend 17' full console and had a marina replace 12 rivets which required removal of the full console and floor. When they removed the floor the plywood was in poor condition so it got replaced along with the carpet. Just giving you the heads up and it is probably wise to do so anyway given the age of your boat. Sorry I have no pics from the job.
  16. Hi Glen, I have used the anti slip mats from the dollar store that are used a drawer liners. The water goes through them so they are not a bouyant as carpet or a life jacket. Now I anchor off shore with an Anchor Buddy https://www.amazon.ca/Greenfield-Anchor-Buddy-Royal-AB4000-RB/dp/B0000TX8SM/ref=asc_df_B0000TX8SM/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341612205093&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2316446483614800301&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001117&hvtargid=pla-569825172371&psc=1. It is a bungee rope so anchor about 75' out form shore and back in. Then I tie my boat to shore and once I unload I let go and the boat gets pulled out into deeper water. It works really well. Here is picture of it in action.
  17. Hey check your PMs I sent you some maps.
  18. So in Manitoba they know "Jack" right!
  19. I remember on the In Fisherman Al Lindner referred to a Rapela as a "Wrapalah".
  20. Ken O'Brien's Muskie was caught and kept, where as this one was caught and released which is what is stated for the C&R World Record.
  21. Awesome Barry!
  22. Dan was that Dan C? He always posted pictures of Sleeping Giant Island. Great to hear that you help out others in your retirement, that is a very noble gesture. I remember leaving the Zoo Board for OFC for the same reason. Everyone here was great and it is still a great board thanks to the good people and some nudging from the Mods. I only fish once or twice a year so I don't have much to contribute any longer. My icon was from my first Walleye in the Massasauga back around 2007 where I still camp every summer. I still don't catch many there, very elusive. Thanks for the posts everyone and the trip down memory lane for many! Regards, Warren
  23. I kept in touch with Andy K for many years as well. We both liked to fish the Massasauga an shared many spots with each other that are still on my paper laminated map. He dated a girl and got her into camping there with him. They eventually got married and had a place in Barrie. After that his website went dormant. I lost touch with him after that. 😪
