  1. The bite definitely was on and hopefully it will be next week. Finally what we have worked so hard for.
  2. Yeah Shawn that was on of the double headers we go, just as you guys were pulling up. I can only hope to have half as good a day on the next trip.
  3. We heard alot of chatter over the radio and guys were getting fish. Where we were we counted 25 boats around us. Fishindevil and the guys he was with pulled up close to us just as we hit our 3rd double header! Hope everyone did well. Man the rain was a bit of a pain again but to tell you the truth I like fishing out there when the winds are not high and its cloudy rainy and at least somewhat mild. At least yesterday!
  4. We decided to head to Quinte today instead of Sunday due to the forcast weather and boy are we ever glad we did. Picked up Eric at 5am headed to Terrys' and then met Sheldon at 6am and headed to the bay. Once again we had the privilage to join Sheldon for the day in his boat due to clients cancelling, they really should have gone out! Hit the water around 8:30am and quickly got set up with an eight rod spread! Man this is really an advantage. Anyway to make a long story short we had our best day on Quinte so far. We went 16 for 19, and all quality fish. So here is a bunch of fish porn, hope you enjoy, what a fun day and we also had 3 double headers. Cant wait till the next outing, Once again thank you very much Sheldon for giving us the privilage of joining you for the day, it was a blast and it was nice to see you relaxed and having fun and actually gedtting to catch fish!
  5. A treat if you just want to realx on the water but bad if you want to catch eyes.
  6. The pics of the calm water were taken last week when it was just to nice to get the eyes to bite. Yesterdays weather was perfect. Today winds are gusting to 70k down there.
  7. Yep the seem to still have lockjaw but I am glad that one decided to strike, hopefully they will start to loosen up, there are tonnes of fish in the area.
  8. Headed down to Quinte to try and coax an elusive eye into biting, well we tried very hard and finally my rod doubles over and I have myself a new PB, the scale red between14.05 and 14.11lbs so I figure closer to the first either way a new PB. Hard to weigh with her moving around alot , measured just over 31in. with a massive girth of 17.5/8 in. This hog was huge and fat. I could not believe how fat this fish was, obviously gorging on baitfish. The pictures dont do it justice, I am not a small guy and this fish makes me look small. When I got her in the boat my reef runner was sidways inside the massive mouth on her and the back hooks were not touching the other side of her mouth. And the teeth were the biggest I have seen on an eye to date. A beautiful fish and she is back to be caught another day. Here are a few pics of her and a white bass and some pics from last week. I will be back down on Sunday so I hope some of you guys will still be there, I will have my vhf on. Which channel will you guys be on? Wish I could make it down for the whole weekend to fish with those of you who are there for the weekend but I cant afford it. Anyway hope to see some of you on Sunday, good luck and hope you guys all get new PB!
  9. Steve we had to drive to Smiths Falls to Bennetts, I have four and I think he had two more left. Bits and Baits had them but are sold out. They are a bit pricey but well worth it. The board will not come off.
  10. We do it all the time, no ill effects at all. And as for the line slipping, try and pick yourself up locking clips for you boards this way your line will not come out until you release it.
  11. We will be there on Sunday. Hopefully the eyes have loosened those mouths by then.
  12. Nice going Cliff, I have only caught 3 muskies ever! Its funny how it goes with who catches the fish, I have been out and not caught one fish and my buddy has caught 5 or 6 and vice versa. It was just your day. Dont worry Bly you will kick his butt with a 50".
  13. Well good for you guys staying in and working that area hard, it paid off for ya. Wish we had the same luck but Sat. was the only skunk in my boat this year, not even a sniff. But hey what can ya do. I think it was just to nice out there and way to much in the way of boat traffic driving the fish deep. In retro-spect we should have gone away from all the boat and worked it. Nice to see you again. I am going to get down when you guys are there for the get together, wish I could stay the weekend but at least a day so I hope I can meet a few of you then.
  14. Will do, we will make sure it is the Purdiest one!
  15. It was funny, they hit on different things from reef runners and the usual suspects to stickbaits. Basically we just covered alot of water, looked for schools and high baitballs and worked them for a long time. We never really got on any particular pattern. It seems that these fish just turn on for a short amount of time so hopefully you are on the right school when it happens. Are you going to be at the OFC get together, we will more than likely be on Quinte when you guys are there so hopefully we will see you.
  16. Very wild weekend indeed. We were all soaked by the first hour out on Sat. We ended up staying out until dark, luckily we did so we could tow in our buddies.
  17. We will be down on Sat. Why not start going now? We have been catching fish, although it has been tough. The weather last weekend made things tough.
  18. Here are some pics of a few of the fish from this weekend. Here is a shot of the cement ship that was cruising by at warp speed. Here is a shot of us towing Karma and Jackel back to the harbour. It wouldnt be a Quinte outing without me getting the wool pulled over my eyes! Here is Sheldon flying by us at top speed! Not the best weekend out there but hey alot of fun and worth going just for the seminar alone. Thanks again Sheldon for a very informative lesson. Till the next outing lets hope the eyes start to loosen their jaws a bit more.
  19. Once you actually understand what you are seeing on the sonar you give your head a shake and say to yourself " Now I get it " it does help to have a colour screen. And once you go out with Sheldon and he shows you what to look for you really appreciate the education you recieve.
  20. Hey Sam nice fish! You cant go wrong being out with Sheldon. We were the guys in the Alumacraft that Sheldon was talking to on several passes. We we can are down there for the weekend Friday to Sunday so if we can find the time we will try and come in and visit. Hopefully can get them to go! Thanks for the report and sharing. Don
  21. Great report Dawg! I know exactly how that feels, last year my rod locker door fell and pushed my taildancer right up and under my knuckle, I did the same as you, pushed it through after taking pics of course. Funny think about the knuckle hooking, it didnt hurt at all. I was hooked once before when a damn sunfish got caught on a stinger and while I was removing it he jumped and the other hook got me in the thumb so now I have a hook in me and a fish attatched. So I have to push it through, who knew thumb meat was so thick!
  22. Good to see you guys got onto some fish. Saw you out there several times. It was a tough day trying to get them to bite but a nice day out there.
  23. Hey Shawn, good to finally meet you! Congrats on the eye, she was a nice fish. We only got the one and it was a resident so not to big. All and all a nice day on the bay which is not that common this time of year. Cant wait till the weekend, we will be there from Friday till Sunday and we will get some! By the way Shawn, my friend who was with me is Eric not Mike but hey maybe I will just start calling him Mike too. Hopefully see you next weekend. Don
  24. I will more than likely be down there that Sat., doubt I can come for the weekend. I will be there this Sat. and next weekend from Friday to Sunday. Word is there are lots of em in now, its just a case of getting them to bite!
  25. I hope the answer is " ME "! s Sorry couldnt resist. Hope you have a great time, some really good fishing down there. Catch a Tarpon I hear they are a blast.
