  1. Squirrel: "Put the camera down and HELP me!"
  2. Mutual of Omaha right in your backyard. While in the NWT twice I saw peregrine falcons catch birds in flight. Most incredible thing I've seen animals do.
  3. Funny, the City of Barrie has numerous 40kph zones already, how did the city sneak those laws in. (Cities can set speeds to suit so this is made up government bull) Any chance that part of the "problem" (that is assuming there is one) is pedestrians not following the rules of the road and/or using their phones while walking? Ear buds/can't hear traffic? Any chance that is city planers could do a better job of locating schools, residential and commercial zones and the roadways that connect them? Maybe just enforce the speed/traffic laws as they are now? I always seam to have someone on my bumper no matter what speed I'm travelling. I know, that's way too much logic for government and voters. I am such a fool.
  4. Changed my mind on Saturday afternoon. Four perfect weather days meant that the front yard went from this: To this:
  5. I can't remember the last time the super bowl ™ held less appeal to me. This year it's the toilet bowl ™. I'll make my ritual chili but I'll likely look for something else to watch and I've never done that since the early/mid 80's (Raiders v Washington?) when I went and played hockey on the outdoor rick at halftime and didn't make it back to watch the 2nd half.
  6. Helmets are very good at preventing skull fractures. They do very little to prevent concussions.
  7. I was just going to post that link as well. Maybe next year at our house. The neighbourhood rink here is very good and quite close but Ryan is spending so much time on it that having him right outside our door might be better next year.
  8. Glad you are feeling better now. The old joke is: Hockey player gets knocked out and does not remember who he is. Coach tells the player he's Wayne Gretzky. Jim should have told you that you were Gord Pyzer.
  9. Much better to have kids inside in front of a screen, or better yet, hangin' out with the others kids causing trouble in the neighbourhood.
  10. Max has his mom's mitts!

  12. Link has a very clear video: http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/2015/01/21/barrie-police-looking-for-two-men More than $1,000 worth of goods were pinched from Cabela's in south-Barrie on Tuesday evening. City police received a 6:40 p.m. call about a theft at the hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor store at Park Place. Video footage from Cabela's shows two males entering the store, then selecting a Garmin camera and various pieces of clothing. Police say the tags were removed and the pair left the store, making no attempt to pay. Both men are Caucasian, with large builds and weigh about 300 pounds each. One had a goatee, was wearing a bright orange construction jacket with a black 'CAT' ball cap, blue jeans and black running shoes. The second man had a partial beard and was wearing a black and navy blue ARCTIVA snowmobile jacket, a red and white hat and grey jogging pants. Due to the quality of the surveillance video and the unique clothing worn by the men, police believe they will be recognized. Anyone with information about this incident or who recognizes the suspects is asked to call Const. Osborne at 705-725-7025, extension 2738 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
  13. Not sure if what I want exists or not but thought I'd start here. I want to be able to post photos on the web (not facebook) of my son's hockey team. I want it to be private since these are other parent's kids. I'd like to be able to send them an email link so that they could view all the team's photos and then let me know if they'd like higher res ones email to them specifically. Does such a thing exist for free and that isn't a huge pita to use? Thanks for the time.
  14. Eats, Shoots and Leaves is a funny book if anyone's looking.
  15. At the spring fishing show which is usually at the International Centre.
  16. Tough to have a money tree above the tree line eh? I'll go check mine out back.
  17. Remember 4-5 years ago how we were all going to have 3D tv's?
  18. My own research tells me that the $6 was: $2 for card. $2 for fishing licence. $2 for hunting licence. Plus HST. He still thinks that the store charged him $6 bucks for the privilege. Some people just won't listen.
