  1. Mmmmm. All I need is some walleye and a bib. Like the recommendation of fluids whilst cooking, gotta stay hydrated.
  2. That is not how you should treat your customers.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I may pick up a fixer-upper and drop it off at chateau cliff and pick it up in a few days.
  4. Fool me once....
  5. And confusion reigned when the tape measure showed that was 12 inches.
  6. No love here. It's bigger then yours.
  7. I'm not drawing any straight lines but this was in today's Globe and Mail. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/modern-pharmaceuticals-becoming-part-of-the-culture-in-the-nhl/article2423588/
  8. Just got a call from Costco about a dog food recall. Costco's web site didn't have any info, but this is the web site the call directed me to: http://diamondpetrecall.com/
  9. There was, and still is, a brown under that wood on Wednesday. Nice fish.
  10. I have also wondered about this. How practical, likely and economical is it to just find and buy a new trailer with electric brakes and sell the old one?
  11. I knew there was grayling in England but had no idea they were in/near London. Very cool. Thanks.
  12. I love football and hockey. I played both as well as rugby. I loved hitting people. I loved hitting people HARD. When I watched these same sports I wanted to see hits, big hits, hits to hurt. I now feel some unease when I see these same hits. The impact these hits have on people's brains is serious and permanent. I'm not sure what the answer is. But we are going to see more consequences going forward, not less. Brain injuries are not just a part of these body contact sports either. Female hockey with no body checking has some of the highest number of concussions. Concussions are also impacting baseball players as well. I sometimes wonder about my own well being. I was never knocked out, never had any signs of a concussion but I did play a lot of games and never turned away from the rough stuff and initiated a lot of it. I can sit here right now and say I am fine, but in 20 years can I say the same thing? My son is 3 and likes to play hockey (his version at least) with me. I look forward to watching him play sports, but there is a part of me that wonders what if? Nothing concrete here, just some Saturday musings while having a cup of joe.
  13. ..."I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike."
  14. Low numbers because they are top-o-the food chain and they are not really known for making long migrations.
  15. Your shoulder might even flare up just from eating the walleye let alone hoisting beasts into the boat.
  16. Ha Ha. Sorry I wasn't more clear. This was on a fly-in out of Nakina.
  17. I rarely use bait for eyes "down here" and would never bother with it on a remote trip (however if you are not flying in, fill you boots). Bait (worms) work, but the hassle of lugging them around, perch nibbles (may not be in the lake you're on) re-baiting and keeping them healthy. No Thanks. If you need to work a tough bite there are lots of plastics that will suit the need. I found a jig and curly tail to also be quite tedious because you could never make a cast and reel in without having to take a walleye off. A least with a hard bait there was the occasional cast that went unencumbered by a fish. For me I liked the gliding rap and saltwater version of the x-rap. The gliding rap doesn't go too deep, but the xrap can so be mindful of where you use it. Both worked for pike and walleye.
  18. I thought I recognized the bridge, but the houses are new. I used to love the sucker run in the bay 30 years ago.
  19. I used to get paid to do it. Then they realised you guys would do it for free and that was that.
  20. Can you tow with a leased vehicle? I thought it was one of those things that most leasing agreements precluded? The diesel Touareg appeals to me, but the end price of $60,000 does not.
  21. Nice work. Thanks. I used to pull the nets as well, just indexing not for breeding. Always killed me to see some monster fish that I rarely was able to find once the seasons opened.
  22. Great tale. Beautiful fish. Mr. Brice would have had a chuckle, and maybe a shake of the head, about that trip.
  23. Agreed. Many of these $100 baitcasters are way ahead of the older models when it comes to the casting/spool technology. In some cases the durability might not be as good. But for just above base price it's a real good option to start. I have a low-profile shimano that was on clearance about 20 years ago that I paid $200 (don't know what it was regular retail and I don't know what $200 twenty years ago is equal to now) But these $100 reels are lighter and can cast farther/ easier. I do prefer aluminum over "plastic" for baitcasters in general but when it's really cold and wet the composites don't suck the heat out of your hand as much. btw I have Abus, Diawa and Shimanos.
  24. Man hug. Chests touch, hips don't, two slaps on the back, no eye contact. Two seconds tops.
