  1. He posted what his needs are in the first post, has to have a dvd/cd tray, has to be able to output to a monitor/keyboard, and has to be able to run MS Office as well as other programs he has on DVD/CD, and has to be portable. a tablet and desk top are out of the question, and he said he does not want a tablet, so not sure why people are saying tablet. Macs are very expensive to buy, and even more expensive to repair, for the price of a mac book, you can buy a very nice windows based laptop, since macs start around $1500
  2. He doesn't belong in the allstar game, however, I think all the players participating should either boycott the game, or wear Scott jerseys on the ice
  3. hmmm 3 hrs on the engines and 3600 hrs on the generator???
  4. Yes i know that Crosby isn't in because of Scott, I just used that as a way of showing how flawed the voting system is, that how a far superior player did not get in, where a guy that barely gets any ice time gets in because a few people abused the voting system
  5. Gov survey boat, probably was going to be used for scoping out lake bottoms, says in the note at the bottom that it was involved in a road accident, but was fully repaired, and that the engines were never used
  6. and he can't output it to a monitor and keyboard
  7. The voting system is so flawed, that John Scott got named a captain, with his less than a goal year scoring, while a player like Sydney Crosby didn't get voted in to even participate
  8. He is that bad, in his career, and this is his 8th year in the league, he has 5 goals and 6 assists, in 7.5 years. he averages roughly 6min of ice time per game http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/scottjo01.html
  9. depends on the model of reel, Hardy makes some fantastic reels. I have not used a hardy before, but have used a Ross F1, Sage, and Echo fly reels
  10. For me, it would be MSi, ASUS then Lenovo. check Canada Computers, they have some pretty good prices on laptops. Something like http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_369&item_id=088311i think would be perfect for your needs
  11. store bought prepacked bacon is brined, not salt cured, so basically they have a needle machine hooked up to a brine pump, they drop the needles through the rind, and inject the salt brine, which will basically be salt and water, they tend to over do it on the brine, and theres were you get a lot of loss when you cook it, as you're not only cooking off the fat, but also the water. with the bacon we sell at the shop, it does not shrink up a whole lot.
  12. If you go onto the microsoft website, there should be something there that will tell you if your computer can handle windows 10. I think thats the issue with the Vista computers, they aren't capable of running of 10 without giving up a lot of system resources. I have a Lenovo SL510 Thinkpad, had Windows 7 pro on it, and I did the upgrade to 10 on it no issues. What it comes down to, is your computer specs You won't lose any programs or information by doing the upgrade, theres an option during the installation process that asks you if you would like to keep your files/pictures/music/videos and whatnot
  13. any time it can be both a fun and a very frustrating profession
  14. it should be good to go. the key it to keep it away from moisture, we had an issue where the tray was below a condensing coil, and the water dripped into the mixture on the defrost cycle, spoiled the entire batch, gotta keep it dry as possible
  15. if you plan to eat the product as is, than yes, using the curing salt is advisable, BUT, if you're going to freeze it after cold smoking, and then bring it out and cook it before eating, then there is nothing wrong with not using curing salt, coarse sea salt, kosher salt, and others will work. We make our own salt pork at the shop as well, let it sit in kosher salt for 3 weeks in the cooler, vac seal it, customer buys it, takes it home, cooks with it, and all is well.
  16. because this is a discussion board, and more than enough people are interested and do this kind of thing, so why not share, inform and get advice?
  17. even the nitrate/preservative free stuff, has a nitrate/preservative in it, the cultered celery extract is the nitrate preservative, by law it has to be there to be sold in a retail store, like I said earlier, we tried to sell the schnieders 'naturals' ham in our deli counter, max shelf life was at most 2 weeks, but for the most part a week to a week and half and we had to chop it for dog food or throw it out. btw, everything we eat in our day to day has some form of known carcinogen or another, everything from sugar to manufactured flavour enhancing chemicals that no one can pronounce hell, even my fishing rod has a warning label on it, 'This product contains a chemical that is known to cause cancer in the state of California'
  18. this sucks, but there are ways around it, you can drive around lake nipigon, sure it adds a few hours, but its better than the alternative
  19. im sorry, but you are wrong on this, pink curing salt is tinted pink because the nitrates and nitrites are toxic at high levels, so its tinted to not confuse it with regular salt, the himalyan pink salt is naturally occuring and a completely different shade of pink. pink curing salt is not sodium chloride (NaCl) but it is made of sodium erythorbate regular table salt and himalayan salt will not work well for curing meats because they aren't full of nitrates and nitrites from http://barbecuebible.com/2014/08/26/guide-nitrites-prague-powder-curing-salts/ : Nitrates and nitrites can be toxic when not used at recommended levels. That’s why most curing salts are tinted pink—to make sure you don’t confuse them with ordinary table salt. (Do not confuse them with Himalayan pink salt, either.)
  20. pink salt is just regular curing salt dyed pink, it was done so people didn't confuse the curing salt for regular table salt in the cupboard. We sell both at the shop, 5oz is enough to do around 100lbs of meat so use it carefully without the nitrates, you meat will go off a lot faster, say 2 weeks once opened from a vacuum sealed bag, we have tried to do the nitrate free hams for the deli counter, and the shelf life just wasn't worth it to please a few customers
  21. i've got well over 100 channels i can add, not counting the adult channels
  22. im logged into my rogers account now, go to your tv service, and under packages, you can choose individual channels, they're usually around $2.79 per month, I havce the fishing network as an extra channel, without all the extra channels in the package
  23. thats quite the rough start. i think your fall at staples may have injured your knee without you realizing it
  24. yes, BP is in american funds, and its nearly impossible to get things shipped to a Canadian store. either the BP in Niagara, or Vaughan is your best bet
