Pet food stores get crazy prices for bits of deer antlers for chew toys for dogs Chris. Local store to me sells 4" pieces for around $25.

A Merc dealer should be able to help you....maybe ?

I was wandering around Youtube this morning and came across this video on electric blowers and figured I'd add it to this discussion. Seems like this particular machine handled the heavy snow pretty well but then the batteries ran out and he had to wait for the re-charge which I wouldn't want to do. Then he mentions the cost of replacement batteries and that blew my mind. Personally, I clear about 600' of snow each time so electric wouldn't work for me and I use a 2 stage gas Toro but electric may work OK if you don't have too much to clear. All comes down to a personal choice.

French River vs the Loring area - which would you choose to fish?

Some nice muskies are being caught on the West Arm lately. Memquisit Lodge is a good place to stay and it's right where you want to be for good fishing. https://www.memquisitlodge.net/ -
Good to hear Pete, Nova Scotia's had some tough luck this year, hopefully you get a reprieve this coming winter.

How'd you make out with the Hurricane Pete, radar maps seemed having it hit you pretty well head-on.

I think your right Terry, the motor will still crank but won't start with the kill switch off.

When I was a kid and then my own kids after me would go door to door asking if they wanted their driveway shoveled and that's how we made our extra spending money. No kids in your neighborhood looking to make some extra cash Cliff ?

Atta boy, nice fish.

Stay safe Bud !!

Had a good friend who was totally blind over one day and we were sitting at the picnic table having a beer. Neither of us saw it but a bee ended up sitting on the top of Buddies beer bottle and when he took a swig it got him in the lip and just like you Dan his face puffed up like a balloon. From then until the day he died he always kept his thumb over the top of the bottle...just incase.

Sounds like you won that battle at least. LOL

I got swarmed and stung about 40 times and ended up in hospital a few years ago and never want to get that close to those furry little critters again Pete LOL

Outstanding Bill, real nice very chunky fish !!

I planned on buying my rod at Gagnons as that was my usual go to store but had never been to Sail before so I stopped in there 1st. They had the Legend Tournament rod I wanted but it was $150 MORE than Gagnons regular price. I went across the 401 and got the rod and never went back to Sail again.

My main rod was also the Legend Tournament Bill, best rod I ever used paired with the Shimano TE.

Really interesting story smitty55

Too far for the OP but if anyone in the Kawartha area needs repairs for Shimano fishing products they have a repair facility in Peterboro just off the 115. I've dealt with them several times and their service is 2nd to none.

The reel I primarily used for casting large spinnerbaits was a Calcutta TE 400 and with a power handle on it and it absolutely does make a huge distance.

Just seeing that nice fish on your 1st trip makes it worthwhile and it's something you'll remember for a while, some guys go all season without seeing one. The north end of Pigeon is far better than the south just for all the different types of structure available. It's a big lake and takes some time to figure it out but you'll get there and feel comfortable and confident moving around from one structure type to another.

I hear ya Pete, chasing muskies in total darkness was a real passion of mine for years and I think maybe I enjoyed it more that daylight fishing.

One day maybe 15 years ago they were calling for a nasty thunderstorm in the evening so I said to my bud we should head out just before the storm hits as that often turns them on. Once we could hear the thunder approaching we jumped in the boat and headed for a favorite spot a mile down the lake. I think it was the 3rd cast and I got this guy. We took the picture and ran back to the camp as the lightening was flashing around us. My wife asked why we didn't go fishing and I told her we left 20 minutes ago, got a fish and now we're back. You can see the storm behind me and although it wasn't a big fish it's always fun when a plan comes together LOL

Muskies don't care if it's raining, they're already wet.
