  1. Since 1st posting about the 401 insanity back in April we've gone to my daughters place in Mississauga 3 or 4 times and have only used the 407 since then. Costs around $70 - $80 return from Mississauga Rd. to Hwy.115 but well worth it in my mind. Nice peaceful drive with about 10% of the traffic. Doubt I'll ever take the 401 across the GTA again.
  2. You did OK, the gas at Curve Lake Reserve near me is currently $1.49.9
  3. Always enjoy the Jiggy stories TJ.
  4. Fun times and lotsa good eating there.
  5. Your info is always interesting Barry.
  6. My bad Barry, for some reason I thought these pictures were very current.
  7. Really nice pictures as always Barry but just curious, is it normal for deer out your way to be born in July rather than early spring ?
  8. Mine is branded and sold by Ford but I seem to remember it's made by BAK but I could very well be incorrect on that.
  9. No complaints with my tri-fold at all, not 100% waterproof but darned near. I drove 100 miles thru a heavy downpour yesterday and everything stayed dry. Easily folds up against the back window leaving nearly the entire bed usable. I've had them on my last 4 trucks and there'll be one on my next one too.
  10. Yeah I hear you Chris, a sad thing to see but it's the way things work in the wild.
  11. We just spent a week at Quinte and the place is loaded with swans, they're everywhere. We had this little family group living on the shore next to our cabin and they're fun to watch. First few days there were 4 babies, then Wednesday morning one was missing and only 3 babies were there. Woke up Friday morning and another one had disappeared leaving 2. Locals said the baby swans are a favorite for the pike and they grab them all the time plus we had plenty of ospreys and hawks flying around so who knows what happened to the little guys. Nature can be tough sometimes.
  12. I used the Down Easters, they're strong holders for when your dragging big baits fast.

    Hybrid?

Specially when you compare it to the shoe beside it.
  15. Fun trip, always nice when a plan comes together.
  16. Came across this video on YouTube and figured it'd fit this thread.
  17. I watched a TV show awhile back about polar bears in Churchill where the bears basically wander right into town. It said nobody ever locks their car incase anyone encounters Mr. Bruin and they can jump into any car to get away from the critter. Makes a lot of sense to me.
  18. I still remember your polar bear story from years ago Bill, that was epic LOL
  19. Good to hear your trip went so well, 'cept for those pesky blackflies.
  20. Your closer to that grizzly than I'd ever want to be Bill LOL
  21. Well it IS the only fish actually worth chasing LOL
  22. Sounds fun bud, have a great trip.
  23. We moved to a new subdivision at Leslie & Lawrence in '54 and used to hike down to the area of those stables. I did a lot of bike riding in that area in later years and that's probably the nicest park setting in all of Toronto. Another stable we rode from in the 50's was at Todmorden Mills in the Don Valley. It was really nice and the Parkway wasn't even thought of then and we'd ride the horses along the Don River and you'd think you were a million miles from a city down there. No noise, no cars and just a really nice place.
  24. The sad part though, is this little guy was probably really excited about catching his biggest fish and seeing it posted on the internet, but I'm sure those feeling are long gone now. Probably put a real damper on the whole experience.
  25. Beautiful horses guys. My dad grew up in Saskatchewan during the depression and spent the summers working on his uncles farm. He always talked about the pair of Clydesdales they had and my dad usually got to drive the team for whatever job they were doing. He always said they were massive critters and unbelievably strong but gentle as lambs. When I was a kid growing up in Toronto (East York) in the 50's there was a horse stable at St. Clair & Warden where us kids would go on Saturdays. Seems to me we paid 25 cents for an hours trail ride and my favorite horse that I always picked was "Big Red" LOL Sadly that's all gone now and the fields and stables are monstrous homes, plazas and subways stations but I spose that's progress/
