  1. Just an FYI for any of you fellas that may use the 401 this weekend. https://www.durhamregion.com/news/hwy-401-to-close-in-both-directions-saturday-night-as-simcoe-street-overpass-taken-down/article_8e3f5eff-9f93-505c-916b-325693883450.html
  2. I never had any interest at all in bass fishing and fished musky almost exclusively for decades and a very successful tactic in the very early season was throwing smallish spinnerbaits into shallow water pencil reeds which was also a favorite haunt of largemouth bass. Yes, I caught some which were always released but can honestly say I don't ever remember being accused of targeting them but wouldn't have been surprised if I was.
  3. Nope, not at all strange as that seems but I've lost all interest in fishing and seldom even read fishing reports on this site.
  4. For sure Bill !!
  5. Came across some old pictures I'd forgotten about and this is one I always liked. It's my son holding the 1st musky I ever caught about 50 years ago. Keeping muskies and mounting them back in the day was sorta the norm but ever since then I've regretted killing it but what's done is done. Lota musky slime under the bridge since that one so many years ago.
  6. I bought a new Crestliner back in '99 and it had 2 HP ratings also. U.S. Coastguard rated it for 90 HP and the Canadians rated it for 50HP. I checked with my insurance company and they said that seeing as the boat was built in the U.S. they'd accept the American rating of 90HP.
  7. And speaking of cute pooches, my daughter just got this little fuzz ball recently and called her Murphy. She's a ball of fire and a joy to have around.
  8. This was my best bud Marvin who was my constant companion for 18 years the sadly left us 9 years ago. Wonderful pooch who loved riding in the boat and would swim all day long if he could.
  9. Back in the 50's my brother and I had a 6' wooden punt with a 3HP Evinrude....it couldn't beat anything. 😁
  10. One of our favorite restaurants Norm, love sitting on the waterfront patio eating fish & chips.

  14. Don't worry about it Barry, she did nothing wrong.
  15. That dog laying on you looks as big as the grizzly you showed us before LOL
  16. Thanks Barry, appreciate your animal wisdom.
  17. Your pretty knowledgeable on animals Barry so I'm curious as to what you think this track may be that I came across behind my place a few years back. Pretty sure it's too big for a coyote and no big dogs around here at the time so I'm guessing a wolf....any thoughts?
  18. Your right, that park is in a beautiful location. We used to camp there way back in the 50's before trailers were allowed and they just had wooden platforms to put your tent on. The restaurant right at the entrance to the park is nice too with good food and good prices.
  19. Yes, that's Burleigh Falls and I'm just a couple minutes south of there so go thru the area quite often and can't ever remember seeing anyone paddling down those rapids. I often wondered why and maybe the answer is the rock your talking about. Sure is a purdy place to go though.
  20. Not at all Barry, infact I found your story very interesting. Couple years back I was walking along a dirt road thru the woods up on Lake Nipissing and I heard a branch break to my right. I looked over and a small bear cub came out from behind a fallen tree very close to me and then another behind him (her) and then sure enough Momma came out too. She pushed between the 2 cubs then lowered her head and her ears went back and she was just glaring at me with a look I'll never forget. I'm no bear expert but her meaning was very clear and I figured I'd better back away very quietly. She kept her eyes on my till I was far enough away and I just headed back to the cabin and never saw them again. Funny thing was it was unnerving at the time but now I'm very happy it did happen and it's a memory I'll have for a long time.
  21. Just mine is fine Terry LOL
  22. When my son was about 10 years old he went down those rapids on a rubber air mattress LOL
