  1. My brother used to be a member of this board and then he got cancer and died 10 years ago. Him and I were very close and a lot of guys from here knew him so after his passing I put up a small post to tell of his death. Months later my wife and I were sitting at home one evening and Joey and Paul came to visit. Joey was carrying a package and she gave it to me. I opened it and it was this beautiful 18" x 24" painting of my brother and I in my boat down at Quinte. Joey had searched some old posts of mine and found the photograph. There used to be a member here who painted pictures so Joey contacted her to do the work, then contacted other members who volunteered to donate money to help pay for it. I knew nothing about it until that night. It was one of the nicest gifts I've ever received and shows just how nice Joey was and what a wonderful friend she was.
  2. I picked this one up at the local Yamaha dealer for mine Brian and it worked well for the 6 years I had the boat. Forget exactly how much it was but it was somewhere around $40-$50 I think. Just attach to the block with velcro and run the wire back and wrap around a spark-plug wire.
  3. Paul, we just got a call from Barb a few minutes ago to tell us about Joey and it was such a terrible shock and you have deepest condolences from Diane and myself. I was just talking to her on the phone 2 weeks ago and never guessed she was as sick as she actually was. She was a wonderful person and a great friend to us and everyone else who knew her and our yearly trip to Nippissing won't be the same with out her. She'll definitely be missed. So very sorry Paul.
  4. Congratulations on the new ride Brian, sounds perfect and you'll definitely be happy with the Yamaha motor.
  5. Always happy to oblige with a smile TJ
  6. Just get lucky sometimes sterling LOL
  7. Here's a few Nippissing muskies bud
  8. Always great info from you Craig.
  9. Glass is in a different category all together and is far superior to the ride of aluminum in any kind of water.
  10. Seeing as I quit fishing this year I assume your referring to me but when did it become any business of yours whether I post on this site or not.
  11. Sure has been a crazy winter so far.
  12. I'm starting to feel like I'm sitting in a kindergarten class.
  13. Your certainly entitled to your opinion, just as I am.
  14. Well said Art. In the 15 years I've been a member here the subject of seperate forums has come up so many times I get dizzy thinking about it. This site works well as it is and like they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  15. I don't follow any of these political threads Cliff and don't what it was that upset you, but I do recall you saying something the other day about not posting to political threads anymore then right after that you did start a political thread again. Maybe that's what threw someone off ??
  16. Not too bad really, I think maybe we got off OK. We had several hours of freezing rain and everything has a coating but it's starting to warm up. I used a plastic shovel on the back deck and it lifted the ice right off. So far the powers still on but the wind seems to be picking up a bit so if it continues we may see the power go out if the tress start snapping. Weather guys are still calling for freezing rain all night so who knows ?? Right now though my guess would be your place is OK.
  17. Forecasts like this are the exact reason I have an airtight wood stove down stairs in the family room along with 2 cords of hardwood in the shed, a propane insert upstairs in the living room and a stand-by generator that automatically comes on when the power goes out and will run most things in my home. And my propane was just filled on Friday so I've got about 1200 liters of gas if needed. I like to be prepared.
  18. That's crazy Norm as that's exactly where we moved from that day. We left Robbins Ave which was the 1st street south of Gerrard running east off Coxwell. You may have seen my family running around the neighborhood trying to catch all our flying furniture LOL
  19. I had a house trailer on a small Kawartha lake for 36 years and the musky fishing was excellent yet very few people ever fished for them there except me. I knew every rock, stump and blade of grass that held fish but most days I had them all to myself Alot of years I'd average around 100 fish annually and usually get at least 1 a week over 45" with plenty over 50" and one morning I boated 9 fish in 2 1/2 hours. I used to post a ton of fishing reports on this board over the years but never once did I ever name the lake. Plenty of guys from this board fished with me and I always asked not to name it either. Don't know if that helped keep the place unknown or not but I imagine it must have helped. I'd think if everyone knew how great the fishing was there it would have been much more pressured. Haven't been back there for 7 years now but I still never see the name posted on this or any other board and I think that's a good thing but who really knows.
  20. My folks had a new home built at Leslie & Lawrence in Don Mills in 1954 and the day Hazel hit was the day we moved in. Long time ago and I was only 7 but I remember it like it was yesterday and can still see our stuff blowing down the street. West end of Toronto got hit far harder then we did in the east end though and if I recall correctly 88 people died in the Humber River area. Lousy day for Toronto.
  21. You'll be just fine with smaller baits, specially in the Kawarthas. Just be sure to still have heavy enough gear to get the fish into the boat quickly and you'll have no issues.
  22. I agree with this ^^^^^ and figure they'll drop off when the time is right. Thanks also for the info on how the antlers are measured.
  23. Good to hear you fellas like the pictures and thanks for the link to that huge buck Paul, absolutely massive antlers. Yes, this guys antlers are very symmetrical and look like a perfect match but not sure what your referring to as the G2 on his right.
  24. This accident happened just 1 mile north of my place and I sure hope it wasn't anyone I know. The helicopter flew above my house on the way south then a short time later it came over again heading back up. It was flying very low and I said to my wife something bad must have happened close by. Strange too as I was working outside a couple hours earlier and a snowmobile was running real fast on the lake and I wondered then if the ice was safe as there hasn't been many machines on the lake this winter. Always sad when this sorta thing happens to folks just out for some fun.
  25. This big boy usually shows up at dusk and it's normally too dark for a picture but he came by about 20 minutes ago so I was able to get this shot. Really impressive critter and he had his smaller buddy with him with the tiny antlers. I'd sure like to find those antlers when he drops them.
