  6. Brian, now it's REALLY starting to sound serious !!!!! Have you heard the stories of musky & bass dying 1st hand or is it just rumours, and is it being linked with the carp die-off at all ??
  7. Stoty, we've got alot of members on OFC from Quebec, who offer plenty of useful information for those of us us who travel there. We've also got plenty of members from Ontario who fish Quebec on a regular basis and can also offer advice to those who ask. This board isn't just limited to Ontario.

  14. Spiel & Mo, thanks for your responses. Well, I've been on the phone all morning talking to different furnace installers and every single one of them said my mom was getting an excellent deal and to go with it. The installation price seemed very high to me but it sounds like it's a pretty fair deal afterall, so I guess we'll go for it. Tanks folks
  15. I've always used gas furnaces so I'm not familiar with the pricing on oil furnaces , but I think this seems sorta excessive. My mom has an old oil furnace & oil tank in her home and when she had a recent service done on it, the technician said it had seen better days and needed to be replaced, along with the tank. She was with Ultramar for many years, but it looks like they were taken over by PetroCan who now supply her oil. She always had a plan with Ultramar that included servicing & cleaning the furnace a couple times a year, plus it covered free replacement of the furnace when required, but an installation charge would be payed by the homeowner. PetroCan honoured the plan and continues with the servicing. Mom has decided to get a new furnace & oil tank, but when I called PetroCan on Friday they agree the furnace will be supplied free of charge according to the plan, but want $1600 for the installation. I dunno, but $1600 seems like an awful lot of $$$$ to install a furnace I had a new gas furnace installed in my home 2 years ago and the entire job of removing the old furnace, re-jigging the ductwork and then installing the new furnace took less than 2 days. They also say she needs a new oil tank, I'm guessing it's about 250 gallons, and they want $1500 for that. There's oil in the current tank that would need to be pumped out, stored and then put back in the new tank. Whadda ya think, are they trying to rip off my dear old Mom or do these prices seem fair ?? Does anybody have a recommendation for any other furnace dealers in Toronto that I could compare prices with ?? She doesn't mind paying a fair price, but I can't help feeling that this may be a scam. Any thoughts ??
  16. The actual red color will disappear as you go deeper, but the line will still be visible, except it'll appear as black.
  17. It's a good thing you pulled that Old Milwacky can outta the tire when you did or it coulda done some REAL damage !!
  18. Mike, it's really great to hear you & your bud had a good week up there. I'm sometimes hesitant to recommend a place to someone incase the trip doesn't turn out well as mine, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. There's another OFNer heading up there soon too, so I hope he enjoys it as much as you boyz did. You got into some nice fish, saw some gorgeous country, and seeing that moose swimming across the bay was definetely a bonus !!!! The folks that run Lost Lake are excellent and really take care of their guests. When my brother & I were there in '96, it was....and still is.... the best bass fishing I've ever seen, but the ONLY bait we could catch them on was top-water plugs, specifically Chug-Bugs, and they wouldn't touch any other bait.....strange eh ?? Anyways Mike, I've been waiting for this report and it sure wasn't a disappointment, thanks for taking the time to post it, and I'm VERY happy to hear you enjoyed the place
  19. WTG Matt, that's a real purdy fish !! I'm gonna be up your way in a few weeks lookin for that girls momma, probably about 30 minutes east of you.

  21. We were stuck here till 4:00 last Friday too and it took us over 3 hours getting to the Kawarthas, a trip that normally it takes that 1 ½. I don't know how folks do it who have to travel in rush hour all the time
  22. I'm usually outta here by 11:30 on a Friday morning and up at the trailer by 1:30, waaaaaaay ahead of the traffic, but we're held up here till 4:00 0'clock today and I've been sittin here all afternoon twiddling my thumbs and watching the clock The radio says the traffic is already backing up on the hiways....... Dang
  23. I've said it before Jen, but I'll say it again...... Your one awesome Mom !!!!
  24. Don't worry boyz, I'm always smilin on the inside We just hafta pretend we actually take all this fish'n stuff seriously
  25. I never fish for bass intentionally, but catch plenty of bigguns incidentely while casting for muskies using 65 # Power Pro, 130 # Seaguar fluro leaders and large baits, so their certainly not turned off by heavy, visble line, leaders or big baits. If their too wimpy to go after it, they ain't worth catchin
