Good to see another one becoming properly educated Kevin -
You & the Big guy have a great trip Shelley

Can't get it to work TJ. It begins to load, then there's just a bunch of flashing lights on the screen and it stops. Oh well, if it's been around for awhile, I've probably seen it anyhoo

Just being carefull HH, I've heard of a couple expensive musky trolling outfits getting knocked loose from the Salties and ending up in the drink, and I didn't want to be the next casualty. I got the tether idea from Richard Collins when I fished with him awhile back and decided to follow his lead. I made up a few of those for only a couple dollars, but it's pretty cheap insurance. Their about 4' long and don't interfere with removing the rod from the holder at all, and can be quickly released from the brass snap when needed. I added a piece of cable between the reel & reel seat with wire crimps to snap the tether to and it works perfectly.

Best of luck to everyone heading to Quinte for the g2g this weekend We had some nasty winds for the inaugural November Quinte g2g a few years back, so hopefully the weather will co-operate with everybody a bit better this year. Play safe, have fun and take pics. A couple pics of the waves from our 1st OFC Quinte trip Remember the big Triton bass boat that got swamped in the middle of the ferry channel on the Saturday afternoon with the 3 guys aboard?? ........That sure coulda turned out ALOT worse than it did !!

Good stuff Kevin, you'll like that machine.

I was in West Marine looking to buy an extension cable for a GPS, and when I asked the salesman about it, he just handed me a parts catalouge, told me to look it up myself, walked away and continued talking to another salesman. I went & put in a complaint to the store manager and asked if I woulda been treated the same way if I was purchasing a $5000 sonar for my yacht, then walked out. Last I saw was the manager shaking his finger in the salesman's face.

Got an email sale flyer from Cabellas this morning and saw this deal on a GPS and thought fer sure someone may be interested in it. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...p;cmCat=catrtel

I've said it for a long time now Wayne, the more advanced we become with technology, the further behind we get sometimes. At one time we could just dial a number, ask for Joe Schmuck and you'd be talkin to him in seconds. Now we spend half our lives on the telephone arguing with a computer somewheres. The good old days, really were

Have a goodun Wayne & crew & best of luck on those Quinte hogs.

You can order one from RadioWorld here in Toronto, but I doubt if you'll get it in time for this weekend. Might be worth a phone call though http://www.radioworld.ca/index.php?cPath=3

I've been wanting to see this show on WFN for awhile, but always seemed to miss it. I finally got to see it this morning and IMHO, it appears to be one of the better fish'n shows on the tube, at least from what I saw today. Lots of action from several huge muskies, some good pointers on baits, tackle & technique from the host, Jim Saric, and the best part was, I never once heard him mention a sponsors name, unlike other shows that are nuthin but infomercials. They also released all the fish immediately, rather than hold them outta the water for 5 minutes while they talked about it. Just thought I'd pass it on for anybody interested in musky fishing, looks like a goodun

Pretty sad what we have to put up with, isn't it ??

Peter, who do you get when you dial *16 on a cell, is it the OPP ?? -
I spent alot of great years getting outfished by my Dad on Quinte and loved every minute of it. Good to see your still enjoying the time with YOUR Dad. Thanks for the excellent report, and adding the pictures of the sonar is a nice bonus !! Felt like I was along for the ride !!

Great to hear the 1st launch went so well Mo, but don't worry, you'll be doing it like an old pro in no time. Anybody that can handle a bus in this crazy town, can back up any trailer Really looking forward to your fishing reports from the new boat next season.

Those tigers really are nice looking fish and congrats on getting her, their still quite a rarity in those waters, although as has already been said, their presence isn't a good sign. Thanks for posting the picture.

It all comes down to individual choice, but personally, I think your better off having different set-ups for different jobs. If your gonna be trolling large baits, you'll find a big reel with a power handle MUCH better for cranking them back to the boat, specially if you don't want to stop the boat everytime you need to clean off a weed or something. My personal preferrence for trolling reels is a Shimano Tekota 600LC matched up on a Compre rod. Choice for trolling rod length is again a personal thing, but anywhere from 7 1/2' and up will work well. Something like this would fall within your $500 budget too. Trouble is, a set-up like this is excellent for trolling, specially big baits with lotsa drag, but not really suitable for casting, and you'd be better off with a seperate outfit for that.. If your already using Shimano reels & St. Croix rods, you've got excellent equipment right there, assuming their in a size suitable for musky. If your looking for a decent rod & reel casting combo that won't break your bank, BPS carries the Pete Maina series and for about $200 total, it's not a bad set up at all.

Joey, your talking about the washers for the 3 drain / fill / vent holes in the lower unit ?? I replace mine every year for a few cents apiece.

Great pictures kickingfrog !! Sure wish I had a dollar for everytime I've crossed on that ferry over the years. Here's a look at the Adolphustown side from 45-50 years ago...dirt roads & all

I've been dropping the odd subtle, little hint around home here lately, to anyone that would listen, that I'd like to upgrade the sonar in my boat next season. This morning over coffee, the Mrs. casually asked me what make & model of sonar I may be interested in, then asked where they can be purchased. hmmmm, and how many more days till Christmas ?? Ya gotta luv a woman that pays attention to hints
