  1. That's the kinda stuff we like to see around here Welcome to the board fishman and enjoy all the time you have with your Dad !!
  2. You'll be happy with the Compre Ted, their an excellent rod at a great price. I've been swapping out all my St. Croix musky rods and replacing with Compre's.
  3. That was the one feature I was a bit concerned with, cause if they've made it so easy for ME to remove, it would seem that it would also be very easy for the thieves to remove too. Sounds like you just have to pull a pin and off it comes. I'll be at the Sportsman Show next Wednesday and will have a talk with the boys at the Minn Kota booth. They must have some sort of locking device available.
  4. I'm going with the 24v, 80 pound unit Roy. I woulda gone with the 101 but that's a 36V and I don't have room for the 3rd deep cycle battery.
  5. For the bowmount on my new boat, I ordered the MinnKota Maxxum Pro but I got a call this afternoon saying it's not available now, so their gonna up-grade it to the new Fortrex. It's got all the bells & whistles and looks good on paper & in TV commercials, but I don't know anyone who uses this model and wondered if anyone here has any personal experience with it.........good, bad or otherwise ?? http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/tro...nt/fortrex.aspx
  6. Sad news indeed Bernie and I'm really sorry to hear it but it sounds like you gave your buddy an excellent home and he returned the favour with all the love he had to offer. My Marvin is over 12 now and I know someday I'll have to face that decision too, but like you, I'll know when the day arrives that it'll be the right thing to do for my friend. Sorry for your loss Bernie.
  7. You've got a PM Joey
  8. Sounds good to me Ernie, I fish Pigeon alot & it'd be good to have you along
  9. I know where your coming from Will and your 100% right. It seems like alot of $$$$ when you 1st write that big cheque, but when you look back down the road on all the memories with friends & family in that boat, it doesn't seem so expensive anymore. Good times !!
  10. Fantastic stuff Bernie, always enjoy looking back on the good ole days
  11. I worked with a guy who, along with his buds, used to regularily run their snowmobiles across open water and the wider the gap, the more fun they were having. Not for me, but alot of guys enjoy the thrill or challenge of going outside the box and taking on dangerous sports......Hang gliding, cliff diving, base jumping, diving out of perfectly good airplanes, mountain climbing.... How many guys have been killed by avalanches in BC this year, and just around southern Ontario this winter 3 people have been killed while skiing and slamming into trees. Yup, some folks just enjoy the rush from living on the edge. Personally, I'm more concerned about the guy doing 150K on the 401 who's gonna take out an innocent family when he wipes out.
  12. Thanks again folks, it should be an enjoyable fishing season. Your right Dax, but it's gonna be a very long 6 weeks waiting till I pick it up The Crestliner was bought by a good friend of mine Brian and it's nice to know it's going to a family that'll look after it and have many years of fun and fishing in it. Sorry Blue_Axela, but the dealer is swapping the motors before I even take delivery of the boat. I was thinking the same thing Brian
  13. Thanks boys. Not hurting my feelings at all Roy, infact I appreciate your thoughts. It's funny you said that though cause just yesterday I was saying to Diane how nice it woulda been to have both Jim & Ed along on the 1st fishin trip.
  14. I went up to the dealership where I bought my boat to meet with the feller that's making the 2 custom covers for it and took a couple pics. The shop was really crowded so I couldn't get any good pictures and these were the best I could get. That PD bowmount Terova is coming off and I'm replacing it with a Maxxum Pro cable steer with the lift assist, which supposedly takes about 1/2 the weight off the motor for lifting in and outta the water and should be a nice feature when putting in a long day of fishing. The aluminum prop is being replaced with an SS Sure wish the ice would melt on the lakes
  15. Classy move Wayne .....and good to see you got what you were lookin for Terry.
  16. I believe it's 10:00 AM but don't know about their closing time. Here's their Phone #.....416-614-7222
  17. RadioWorld has some good prices right now on Lowrance combos. http://radioworld.ca/index.php?cPath=3_204&filter_id=9

Good to see you got it all worked out TJ. And Rick, real nice having you back too Bud !!
  20. I turned on my puter at 2:30 this morning Paul and couldn't get access to ANY website, so I called my service provider (Rogers) and they said it was a problem right across most of Ontario. I tried again about 7:00 and everything was good. Don't know if that was your problem though
  21. Probably Lavigne, cause once I'm there I know it's only another 15 minutes to the beautiful musky waters of the West Bay of Nippissing
  22. 1. I think the curlers have to scream to keep the spectators from falling asleep 2. Maple Laffs........no comment 3. I think winter would be nice if it was only here for Christmas Eve then got nice again
  23. Very tragic indeed, I heard that story on the news last night. It's always sad to hear of folks out enjoying themselves and having it turn out this way.
  24. Happy B-Day bud, hope ya have a goodun !!
  25. Excellent video Pete & thanks to you and the rest of your guys who take the time to look after those of us who may get into trouble out there. I hadn't worn a life jacket in probably 40 years, but last spring I was fishing alone on the West Bay of Nippissing on a very rough day when it suddently dawned on me how stupid I was being. There are very few cottages in that area and there wasn't another boat in sight. I dug out a jacket and put it on and instantly felt safer and have worn it ever since when I'm alone in the boat. Bad stuff happens way too quick.
