  1. I'm the same as you Mark, cept I took early retirement 9 years ago and have decided that after all these years I've earned a nice(er) boat for my golden years......even though I've always had nice boats. I went out in February and layed down a bag of $$$$ and got exactly what I wanted. It's always been my way of thinking that if a man really wants something, he should go for it. I went with the biggest boat and the biggest engine I've ever had, but it's something I wanted and I can't see any sense putting in a lifetime of work and then not getting the toys we deserve.
  2. Rob, if you can't get it solid on top of the console, what about mounting it on the side like I did with the GPS on my Crestliner ?? Very easy to do with a piece of aluminum bent at a 90, then a small hole drilled thru the side panel with a furrel and it brings the wiring right up to your fuse panel. Nice and neat and it won't be in your way at all.
  3. You are correct, Sir
  4. You wanna try standing on top of a 100' aerial ladder Paul
  5. Roger, the Odyssee is at the Quality Hotel, 325 Ontario St. and starting at 8:00 A few of us are meeting for breakfast at 7:00 at the Golden Griddle. Take the 1st exit past Ontario and follow it around to Dunlop St & we'll see you there. http://www.weblocal.ca/golden-griddle-fami...harines-on.html
  6. Fishing lures are meant to be used and your Grandfather somehow forgot to put this one to use, so now it's your turn to do what he didn't. Tie it on your fish'n pole and and go catch a biggun with it & make your Granfather proud.. A good piece of fishing gear does nobody any good sitting on the mantle collecting dust.
  7. Heard on the news this morning that gas prices around Southern Ontario are sposed to stay relatively low this summer compared to last year and they figure it won't go higher that 96¢ Not cheap but certainly better than a year ago.
  8. I don't take delivery of my new Yamaha for another 12 days, 2 hours & 13 minutes...but who's counting ??... but I'm assuming I'll get all my paper work then. Just curious though George, what did the dealer say when you picked up your motor and found the scratch on it ?? Is he gonna get you a different motor or fix the one he gave you ??
  9. Getting ready for the inevitable Quinte downpour, eh Pat ?? See you in a few weeks
  10. I just went into Google and typed "junk removal, oshawa" and came up with this. http://www.1888junkquick.com/index.html Looks like a few more in there to pick from too.
  11. WTG Darren, beautiful fish !! Too bad a few folks saw fit to hi-jack your story though and turn it into something about Cronzey.
  12. I like fishing just before a big storm hits as it often really turns the fish on, but it can get pretty hairy sometimes. You can see the storm building just behind me in this picture and we took off as soon as I released this fish. Got back to my trailer about 10 minutes later and I no sooner got inside when a bolt of lightning hit a horseshoe peg about 150' away from me and blew out the satellite dish & receiver on my place and a television in another trailer 100' away, even though we both have lightening rods. A neighbor actually saw the bolt hit the peg.
  13. When your towing a big heavy boat at hiway speeds your trailer tires are one of the most important things you've got going for you and I don't think buying used or reconditioned is a good idea. The price of a set of good trailer specific tires is pretty cheap compared to the total cost of whatever rig your towing. Just my 10¢ though
  14. Don't know anything about Sylvans but I've got a few friends with PrinceCrafts and they seem like excellent boats and any I've fished out of have been top notch. I bought a new 90 Merc 4 stroke back in 2001 and only got rid of it last week but it was an absolutely perfect motor without even a hiccup in all those years and not a single problem of any kind so if you decide on the Merc I'd hope you'd be as happy with it as I was with my 90. I just purchased a new 150 Yammy 4 stroke but it hasn't even seen a lake yet so I can't offer an opinion on them, but ask me in 6 months and I'll let you know what I think
  15. Who doesn't luv puppies ?? Treat him well Little Angler and he'll be the best friend you'll ever have !!!!
  16. Happy B-Day Brian, all the best to ya !!
  17. So because a store asks for a receipt, their a$$ O's ?? With that attitude your gonna have a tough time getting anywhere with anyone.
  18. 35 years ago I used to drive a big tandem dump truck on my days off and I dumped many many loads of dirt, bricks & concrete in the construction of the Leslie St Spit. Sure hope nobody blames my in anyway for the onslought of the cormorants
  19. All of my baits are stored in tackle boxes or boat compartments so they hang freely and I never have a rust problem. If your laying wet baits horizontal in plastic trays you'll get rust every time. When I'm done for the day and bring up my bow mount, I hang all my large wet boo & bucktails off the power cord and by the time I get back to the dock, the air rushing over them has them all dried out and ready for hanging in their respective spots. Baits, specially large musky baits, are far to expensive to have laying around getting rusty and it only takes minimal effort to keep them in good shape.
  20. Couple years back Mr. Eh and I were fishing Pigeon Lake and I had a musky pull a 10" Believer apart, so I just took a photograph of the 2 pieces and emailed it to Drifter Tackle with a letter of explanation. Within days a package arrived in the mail with not only a replacement for the $25 lure, but also another $25 lure to go along with it as a show of great customer support. Good companies back their products and look after customers when a problem arises and I'm sure Rapala will do the same if they determine the problem is a manufacturing defect.
  21. Thats an excellent looking bait and certainly doesn't look like the 1st time you've tied one. Black with silver is also a good colour combo too. You asked for feedback so I'd like to just offer a tip if I may. With musky size hooks being so large and to reduce doing any further harm to the fish, many of us simply cut the hooks off, rather than trying to pull them back out again. It only takes a few seconds to replace the trebles and were back in business, but with your skirt tied directly to the hook it would basically ruin the whole set-up if one or more trebles had to be cut off. Best bet is to tie on a skirt directly to the shaft, but have a split ring inside where a treble could be added, then when it's cut off there's no damage to the skirt section and your good to go again. Just my thoughts though and again congrats on a fine looking bait.
  22. I always carry a photocopy copy of my insurance papers & boat & trailer registration in a sealed baggy in the boat and that's perfectly acceptable for the OPP, but for some reason I thought copies of licenses weren't acceptable ?? If infact they ARE acceptable, thanks for the tip Fisherman and I'll print off some copies right now and put them with my other stuff.
  23. I don't watch much television and have never seen any of these new "Idol" shows, but if that's the caliber of talent I've been missing, perhaps I should start watching them. That lovely lady is a joy to listen to !!
  24. I use a 7' 6" Shimano Compre with a Shimano Tekotta 600LC reel. Works well for me.
  25. I can honestly say in 50+ years of fishing the Kawarthas regularily, I've only ever been stopped & checked by a CO once while fishing, and that was early in the morning on opening day of duck season and he was checking for guns & hunting licenses. Never been stopped on the Ottawa, St. Lawrence or Niagara Rivers, or GBay or St. Clair either, but have been checked on Quinte several times over the years. I've been stopped on the West Bay of Nippissing quite a few times, usually by both the CO's & OPP while their riding together, but it was always a very pleasant meeting and they've always gone outta their way to be friendly & professional. I think they do an excellent job with the resourses they've got. Worst encounter, infact the ONLY bad experience I've EVER had with a CO was waaaaay back in the boonies of Quebec, but that was by a pair of CO's on nothing more than a power trip.
