  1. Atta boy Larry, she's a real beaut and a great start to the year fer sure !! Gotta tell ya though, you sure got some weird lookin skies out there in your part of the country
  2. Ain't that the truth. I'll bet there's very few on this board that haven't done something foolish in a boat over the years, I know I certainly have. Myself, my bro and my dad were fishing 3 mile Lake many years ago when one of us stood up to have a pee and the boat flipped. We were all thrown into the water but fortunately we were all very strong swimmers and were close to shore but it sure could have turned bad in a hurry if things had been different. So very sad to hear stories like this where a couple buds are just out enjoying themselves and they end up dying.
  3. If you like to use a 2 way swivel, like I do on my musky rods, you can get small plastic beads with a hole thru them that you can slide on your line before the swivel. When the the plastic bead hits your guide insert it won't do any damage.
  4. I know absolutely nothing about this boat but just the fact that it's worth less than $100 and comes from Wal-mart would be enuff to make me think it's good for nothing more than the backyard swimming pool. I could very well be wrong, but I know I certainly wouldn't be taking it on a lake with all my fish'n gear But that's just me.....
  5. Thanks for the update Jb, doesn't sound as if the water levels have improved too much up there. Guess I better go out and buy a cheapo prop for my boat.
  6. Not a problem at all Bill.....Group hug for everybody !!
  7. That reel is a quality product Mike, you'll be happy with it.
  8. If the OWNER of a tackle shop used this page to advertise his products it would be considered SPAM and is against the rules of the forum, but when a member informs us that Joe Schmucks Tackle Store is having a sale, or whatever, that's a whole nuther thing and is just an FYI for the rest of us and is perfectly with-in the rules. It's something that we've done around here for many years and is normally helpful to the members who are looking to save a few $$$$. One of the problems we have around here is too many folks deciding on their own what's right and what's wrong with a post and then taking it on themselves to tell others what to do. If someone thinks there's a problem with a post, inform the moderators thru the appropriate channels and let them deal with it the way they want.
  9. Good to see everyone got there safely. I'll be arriving 2 weeks from today, hows the water levels at the boat ramp & docks ??
  10. It's pretty darned sad when a member takes the time to tell us about a sale on fishing gear and somebody jumps on him for doing it. I wonder where this board is going sometimes. Goodonya for passing on the info ColdH20guy, I'm not in the area to take advantage of the sale, but I'm sure others will appreciate your efforts.
  11. I've been a very early riser my whole life and always get up between 2 & 4 AM. I used to do alot of serious biking and would leave my home about 3:00 AM, 12 months a year, and ride 20-40 miles before sunrise. I love driving in the early morning darkness and when I'm heading out on a long distance fishing trip I sometimes leave home at 2:00AM There's not many things nicer than being the only boat on the lake when the sun breaks over the horizon either.
  12. Your making a good choice....think 4000 series TE and you'll be a very happy man !!
  13. If your lookin for a musky rod, sensitivity is the last thing you need to worry about.
  14. C'mom guys, cormorants hafta eat too ya know
  15. I've been using Power Pro on all my rods for quite a few years now and have never found a reason to switch to anything else. It's never failed me or caused any problems.
  16. There's your answer EC1 !!
  17. I'd return the Ugly Stick, it's far too short, and go with something 7'6" or longer. I'd suggest a Shimano Compre rod for muskies, but that's just me. I'd also suggest you pair it up with a Calcutta reel, more $$$$ but definetely worth the extra expense. Just my thoughts.
  18. Terrible news about your friend Dan. My wifes mother also passed away 2 days ago.
  19. I remember that post Nancy and it's good to see it finally happened, even though it took 3 years to bring it all together You were certainly fishing in good company and congrats on your 1st ever carp !!
  20. Nice fish Instructor, congrats on your 1st musky.
  21. What's on your mind?

  22. You do amazing work Jack, I always enjoy looking at your carvings !!
  23. You must know a few old time trappers up your way TJ with some antique gear laying around ?? Replace that motor with a brand new shiny one , then hang it in plain view and lay a couple old bear traps around the area with a few leaves scattered over top to conceal them. Betcha those stinkin thieves won't come back again after stepping into one of those things.
  24. Sad news Fisherman, please accept my condolances.
  25. Great looking set-up Steve, that'll work good for you !! You'll like those safety wires for your rods too, they make for some pretty cheap insurance.
