As soon as the snow arrives each year I get a pile of deer in the backyard every day without fail and I always enjoy watching them. This morning I had 10 of them show up and I took a couple pictures. There's a huge buck with a large rack that comes every couple days but he stays back in the trees and I haven't been able to get a good picture of him yet but I keep trying. Not real sharp but it's only a P&P camera.

T-Bone, I think that's possibly the best reply to any thread I've ever seen posted on this board....well said my man !!

Wish I could answer your question but I honestly have no idea, although it's a huge tank so it should last quite awhile. Even if it did start running low I'd just have to call the propane supplier and they'd come top it off. They have their own generator system so that'd be no problem.

OK Cliff, looks as if the price has really taken a huge jump in the 24 months since I had my system installed. Wish I had more to offer you.

Cliff, I only payed $5800 including installation, transfer panel and taxes for a 10,000 watt unit and that is more than enough for my home. It easily runs my furnace, water and sump pump, fridge and freezer, lights, computer and TV's and my garage plus just about anything else I need. I've tested it several times turning everything on and it does just fine. I asked them if I should bump up to a 17,000 watt system and was assured it wasn't needed. Call the Generator Center in Peterboro...705-931-0938 Great folks to deal with. My neighbor just revamped his home and wanted a big 1500 litre tank like I have but was told the same as you, that it needed to be away from the house, but he was able to get 2 smaller tanks set right beside his house. I'm not sure what size they are....maybe 400 litres each ?? I deal with Kelly's propane and their great. They delivered and installed my large tank and hooked up the propane lines for free and I only pay something like $2 per month for the rental.

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies

I've had both and their both good motors. -
I don't watch much organized sports but when I do, I always like to see the military there, both Canadian and American, taking part on the opening ceremonies and the military pageantry IMHO adds alot to the program. But being ex-military, perhaps I'm biased.
-
I don't know anything about the American military Art, but in the Canadian Military you come to attention no matter who's National Anthem is being played.

I just look plain silly in those little frilly skirts...

I remember that 1st trip very well Brian and it was the 1st time many of us ever met each other. I used to have a bunch of pictures from that trip but my old computer self destructed and I lost them all. Some good memories though and nice that the old tradition still continues on.
-
It'd be a shame if you lost some pictures Joey, hope you get everything straightened out OK and can get them back.

I can't speak for anyone else in this thread, but my area has a high water table and shallow underground streams so I'm assuming that's the reason for around here and I would guess others hearing the noise would be in a similar type of situation Also interesting to note how many that have replied to this post have said they heard the bangs at 4:00 AM

Some cold weather fun for little kids and big kids

I actually tried that myself a couple years ago Rob and was definitely impressed !! -
We were fishing near Parry Sound in -35 weather a few years back and there was a loud SNAP and a pressure crack opened right between my feet and boy does that ever get your attention in a hurry
-
Thanks guys, good to know I'm not the only one hearing them

Couple weeks back when it was quite cold out I heard a few very loud bangs but didn't think too much about it and just figured it was the house groaning with the cold. This morning was -28 and and I heard the bangs again but even louder this time and it sounded like somebody firing a shotgun on the back deck. I happened to put on City-TV this morning and they were talking about this exact thing and said it was ground water freezing and expanding with the cold causing the ground to crack which produces the very loud bangs. I don't recall ever hearing it before and just wondered if anyone else has heard the same things ??

For anyone who's never been to a GTG your missing alot of fun and the chance to meet some great folks. If your close to Hamilton it'd definitely be worth your while to join in. We used to do them quite a bit years ago but they seem to have petered out for some reason. If I was 100 odd miles closer I'd be going for sure.

I drop my spare every spring & fall to clean, inspect and lube the cable & winding gear plus give the spare a good wash before cranking it back up. I'll bet there's plenty of guys around that never even look at it until it's needed and then find the spare is either flat or the gear is seized up. Just my thoughts anyways.

Kind of a lose-lose situation I spose. When governments do nothing their criticized for ignoring people in need, then when they step up to the plate to help, their criticized for doing too much

I've never been to a Cabelas but everyone always says how great they are. I'll wait and see what everyone says when it opens and if the reviews are good, I'll definitely make the drive over for a look-see.

Saw on the news where folks were lined up for the cards in Toronto but there weren't enough for everyone, but some guy showed up and was handing out $100 bills of his own money. Pretty nice gesture !!

Actually, you and I met and chatted for quite awhile at the Spring Fishing Show about 10 years ago, guess I don't leave much of a lasting impression -
After the recent power outages - looking at a generator. Suggestions?

They do mine once a year and it's about $125 -
I'll be spending this evening down the road standing around a bonfire with friends Brian, but while I'm staring into the flames I'll pretend it's a big hole in the ice
