  1. Back about 20 some years ago, I had a 15hp 2 stroke Mercury. That thing always started with a half pull. I get down to the lake and it would not fire; I just about pulled my arm off trying to get it to start. Then I remembered that I had pulled the spark plug wires off at the plugs. My son that was 10 at the time; couldn't leave anything alone that had a motor connected to it. So for safety sake; I made it impossible for him to start it. I felt like the scarecrow from the wizard of Oz, when he sang "If I only had a brain". LOL Dan.
  2. You can cold smoke chicken; but it should be cured in a brine for at least 12 hours; that has curing salt in. Curing salt that contains 6.25% sodium nitrite and the remainder is table salt. It's the same stuff that keeps cured/smoked ham that pinkish colour that we're use to seeing and tasting. It also kills the bacteria that causes salmonella food poisoning. I've cured & cold smoked skinless chicken breast and then slice it up thin; using it for sandwich meat. With a smoke generator and a card box, large enough to hold the amount of chicken i'm doing. I've also used my propane smoker; that I stick the cold smoke via a hose, into the smoker and left the burners off. 6-8-10 hours of smoke, depending on how smokey you want it. The temp inside the cardboard box or the smoker never goes above 80° The chicken is cured and ready to eat; the smoke just adds to the flavor. Dan.
  3. Isn't the tips line anonymous? If so call it in. Give them the time, an explanation of what occurred; but most of all the cop's badge number. No harm to you and you brought this occurrence to the surface. You done your part; will it make a difference? Who knows???? Dan.
  4. I lost a bunch of shingles on two areas of my roof. The first was at the back of the house and after the wind changed direction; the rest were off the side of the driveway. 5 grand worth of roofing 4 years ago all for nothing. So many other areas are partly flipped, I don't want to have it just patched; even though that's all the insurance will pay for. It is what it is; mother nature reminding us she's in-charge. Dan.
  5. X2 All the way Good luck for you and your guests! Dan
  6. I agree 100% with the above. I would also use a dry brine, I feel that a wet brine robs some of the flavor of what you're brining(SP?). When a dry brine starts to cure the meat, the meat is being soaked in its own juices; not being deluded by water. Google dry brine for fish and you'll get a number of hits; that may sound good to your liking? Dan.
  7. Come on, she was hitting on you; why else would she be talking to you about your equipment? LOL Dan.
  8. I have mixed feeling about this. Yes shooting this prick, is what he deserved; but this cop did what is was supposed to do. He enforce the law and did it without becoming the executioner. Like someone else has already said, in cases like this, where there's no doubt the person did this crime; have him/her put to death. No insanity plea, if he's found criminally insane, there's no use for him in society. We put rabid dogs down; putting them out of misery? Dan.
  9. Good report. Thanks for taking the time to post. Dan.
  10. Great going Bruce!!!! My granddaughter is still way to young to come out with me yet; but I'll live the idea of via your posts; please keep your reports coming. On a side note. When your in London, I've got a box of wheel weights for you. Not a lot yet but the box is approx 12"X 4"X 3" (LWH) and its all but full. Dan.
  11. My daughter's coworkers will not comment on this, unless they had a chance to review the contract. She suggests to fine a law firm that offers a free consultation. Even a letter of intent from a law firm; could be enough to get them moving? Dan
  12. I'll ask my daughter, she doesn't practice business law; but someone at the firm, could possibly give us the short answer? Dan.
  13. This is a question not a statement. Doesn't this dealership (Not Chrysler) have everything to do with this. They are the ones that sold the warrantee and profited by the sale, to the customer. This may not be a good one but here an example of what I'm trying to say and this really happened. I sold an engine that I bought from a machine shop. There's an issue with the engine and the machine shop won't repair it. My customer wants to sue the machine shop; but is told (By his lawyer) that he'd have to sue me; because I'm the one that sold it to him. I would then have to go after the machine shop; if I wanted compensation. So if Rizzo paid the dealership; are they not the ones to honor the contract? Maybe there's a waiver that releases the dealership in the signed contract? Dan.
  14. They'd eat the bait; get to know your aliens, before you go fishing with them . LOL Dan.
  15. GBW. I was talking about the sales staff; sorry if you took offence. My wife is a service adviser at a GM dealership and no she's not on commission either. She been so pissed at the sales people for tell un-truths, just to make a sale. Then the customer comes into service and have to be told; that no their vehicle can't fly. Dan.
  16. LOL. I'd be there in a minute; but my wife is a Londoner and She won't even entertain the idea of moving outside this city. "Happy wife, happy life" Oshawa Sorry no thanks; my son went to UOIT there. Every time I went to visit him; I felt depressed, due to the towns condition; after GM closed out some of its operations. Windsor Is another town that just feels dismal and gray? OK back on subject; someone is getting screwed here and It aint me. Dan.
  17. Dealership yes, 75% of the work force are sales people and most of them don't know the difference between a headlight or a tail light. They're there working on commission and are trained on how to sell crap. Independent garages that are not also used car lots, generally are fair (if they are competent to do the repairs); but like in any other service industry; there's always a few bad apples that make us all look bad. Not to brag (yes I am) but I've been in business running my garage for 33 year. There's only the three of us here and we're all licensed. (I trained my two mechanics right from their apprenticeships) I also have an active customer base of over 4800; I'm quite proud of keeping that many customers happy and coming back year after year. Dan.
  18. Nothing at all; it's an escape route for these cash thieves to crawl through. Sorry if it sounded like I was defending them, in my other post; because I wasn't. I hate dealing with them and there are some, I will not deal with. Dan.
  19. I don't want to argue; but that right there tells me that, that clause must be in the contract somewhere? It may be worded in a way, that it'll take a lawyer to decipher??? If it is and I'm only saying IF it is; then they can claim you're in breach of contract. Dan.
  20. I've been dealing with these aftermarket warrantee companies for years. Most all require that proof of maintenance is supplied every three months or 5000k. I usually fax it in for my customers, so they don't forget. I'd be very surprised that its not stated on your contract somewhere. Likely in the most inconspicuous tiny text; mixed in with all the legal Bull. I had one lady's claim declined, on a blown transmission; because the vehicle was 1000klms over the oil change interval. I asked the adjuster what the hell does an engine oil change have to do with the transmission? His reply was that during the oil change, an issue with the trans could have been seen and prevented it from burning out. It's Bull but that requirement was in the contract, she signed. Dan.
  21. Here's another option, maybe? If the garage door is a panel door and your sofit and or gabble allows. Have a garage door company add another panel and raise the header. You'll have all the clearance you need. Like you said its an newer home so the door panels should still be available? Dan.
  22. Do as a few others here have already suggested; let some air out of the tires. Depending on the tire, you could gain 4-6 inches of clearance. Let out as much air as needed; even 1/2 to 3/4s flat, won't hurt the tire, for the 8-10 feet you need to roll them into the garage. Now this is meant as a joke; but if you can afford a 2018 boat, you probably have a few loonies left over to buy a decent air compressor. LOL Dan. After posting the above I found these tire deflators. They can be adjusted to whatever lower pressure you want. Screw them on the stem they will let air out until it reaches the set press https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NGTOHXI/ref=psdc_15709141_t2_B00QBPBLWY
  23. Most any type of oil; but cutting oil would be the best, to be used as a coolant. Then a HSS (High Speed Steel) left hand drill bit and an easy-out. I've also had good luck, mig welding a nut to the broken bolt. The heat of the weld will loosen the corrosion and the nut gives you something to twist on. I know this doesn't answer your penetrating oil question; but you need a means of turning the bolt. Dan.
  24. I Agree but like the saying and hopefully it is so with this; time heels all. I also know what it's like to loose loved ones; in 2012, with in a 10 month time frame, we buried 6 family members. Ages ranging from 38 to 84; my dad being the eldest. Two brothers and a sister; it was a year from hell. I think of all of them everyday; i'm still sad that they are gone; but the pain in my heart has lessened. Dan
