  1. I also have the motomaster i picked up on sale for $60-70. Works amazing!!
  2. I hear ya!! Sure do miss being able to throw the top on and jig for picky when the weather got nasty...
  3. I spend tons more time floating around and with the trolling motor then i ever do with engine, so fishability is much more important to me... Had a deep-V and hated it... Just not what im looking for in a boat
  4. I have a 17ft aluminum bass boat, just got rebuilt hasnt even touched water, figured i could squeeze some extra $ out of it if i sell it now, but i guess it wouldnt make much of a difference with the price tag of a 520c. Im just eager to get into something asap. Lol
  5. Only reason im not buying my dream boat(carbon ranger) is because i just picked up a new truck... Maybe i should hold off a couple years, but dang its hard!!!
  6. Also made my decision based on a feiends experience with bass pro and his tracker. Exchanged 2 boats, and gave him a larger model instead the second time because they stopped production. Which his 40hp 4stoke couldnt even move. Then buddy asked about upgrading motors and they offered him $1500 for a motor with 14hrs on it for trade in. Now he has to buy a new motor and hopefully sell the old 40 for a descent dollar
  7. Thanks for all the imput guys! And when i said 70mph in chop i didnt mean big waves, lol. Gotta realize im coming out of a boat that has top speed of 50mph but wouldnt think of going over 30 in choppy water. And by choppy i mean less then ideal conditions. I guess my big question was peoples thoughts on nitro and stability, but something i skipped on was quality of build which now i realize isnt the greatest. Leaning more towards the new stratos 189VLO. Which is smaller an less powerful, but seems to be much more quality oriented and still a fair price.
  8. After buying a battery from bps for $300 i decided to go to a 24v system, so i bought a second one from sail for $250 and it lasted 2 charges before it stopped holding charge. Guy at sail said they got almost all of them back for same reason. Then i went to canadian tire and bought a nautilus for $160 i think, and it holds a better charge still then any of the other ones at half the price... Just my experience tho.
  9. I realize there are boats that handle rough water better then a bass boat, but no other boats allow you to have a stadium size fishing platforms that sit almost flat on the water. Fishability off a bass boat cant be beaten, and they are still able to do 70+mph in big chop. Im looking to figure out if a nitro is a good choice compared to others that are reputable in rough water. I thought about the 621 ranger, but i dont like how it sits so much further out of the water, and smaller platforms. Not to mention the price tag... :s thanx for the input!!
  10. Ya, i mainly fish shallow bays for bass, and have a need for speed...lol and would love to be able to rip across a big lake at 70mph to a bay on the opposite side. Also plan on entering tournaments starting next year.
  11. I have a 2000 Legend V-170 with a 90hp merc. And im planning on selling or trading in for a bass boat. Im looking for a boat 20' or more for being able to fish rough water lakes such as simcoe. Anybody have any experiance fishing a nitro in rough water? I know some bass boats are better then others but does it make that much difference if the boat is same length? I hear from everybody "go with ranger" or go with another brand that costs $60k+ for a 21ft model. But i find its always somebody who owns one and has never been in a nitro, and assumes they are no good because they cost $20k less then a ranger or skeeter.
  12. I came across a site called fishound, and for a membership fee of $40/year they give u $125 credit to try out gear and write reports on them... There is s/h fees for every item picked to try out. They are yours to keep, but im still skeptical on the prices and gimmicks. Anybody have any experience with this site?
  13. They dont have to accept enhanced license... Might still ask for passport! I wouldnt gamble it. Get the passport
  14. I have seen the bottom ones selling for $10 at a local tackle shop
  15. If u can pick up in whitby, ill give u a free abu garcia blackmax, its a good cheap reel and left hand. Save the $$$ and buy something thats gonna last you! PM me and ill give u an address if u like.
  16. Hahahaha!!!! My girlfriend does that dumb face all the time. Lol
  17. thats understandable, but dont spend a hundred dollars on a junk reel is all im saying... Rather save the money you do have, and put a little aside until u can afford one. Would hate to hear u spent a little money you did have on something thats junk and might turn you off baitcasters if you are new to them... My first bass pro baitcaster made me hate them, until i gave them a second chance with a quality reel. Where abouts do u live?
  18. Thats amazing! Way to go kid! Officially addicted... First drift!!! Hahaha
  19. agree 100% crappie are definetly my favorite freshwater fish... But have always preferred saltwater fish
  20. I lost a bunch of gear over the years and flipped a sled countless times... Just invested in a proper tow bar package last year and a good sled with a cover and havent lost anything yet. It was very expensive, but should last a lifetime. Saving one flasher or a nice reel and rod makes it worth it though. And now i fly on the ice at speeds i never dreamed of before while towing!
  21. I would kill for one of those!!! How much would it cost to get a fancy custom rod like that built?? Want to get one for my old man as a gift, but dont have the time, knowledge or skill for something like that. I would just waste the money and ruin the product, but i know it would bring tears to his eyes as a retirement gift!
  22. You guys have wayyyy too much musky lures... Lol
  23. I dont get why ppl buy starter reels... What a waste of $$$. Buy a proper reel the first time, and u dont go and buy a better reel a couple months later. The curado is an amazing deal at $160 dollars when u take into consideration that a high end core is $400 plus tax. And is not really significantly better... Just lighter and smoother. Save the $$$ u have till spring to make the purchase.
