A Lund was always what I wanted. I only shopped for a fishing rig since 1980. I finally did get my Lund. A 17' Adventurer I think it was with a 90 Yamaha used from a dealer in Simcoe. They offered a 90 day warranty on the O/B. I had them write in a hull warranty for 14 days, long story. The very 1st time we took it out the day after I got it home for it's maiden voyage it took on water, a lot of water. Lucky we didn't sink it as I had 2 former offensive linemen with me, about 900 lbs of humanity. The hull was cracked from stem to stern. I was devastated. The dealer couldn't believe it as it was a long time customer that traded it in. His kid was the last one out in it. ?????? They honored the warranty. One of the sales guys there decided to sell me his own StarCraft 12 years ago and I couldn't have more happy. That saying about 2 days being the happiest for a boat guy the day buying and selling is bunk to me. Going from 17' to 19' doesn't sound like much but it is. Much wider and deeper. You have a nice rig there Pigeontroller. The Lund deep V's and the StarCrafts look very similar. Someone told me they shared the same hulls in certain models back in the 90's.

Above is my pride and joy. 1994 StarCraft Superfisherman 190. 115 HP Mariner and matching 15 HP kicker. I had her for sale but can't bring myself to let her go. I have gifted 50% ownership of her to a close friend, he uses it as much as I do anyway. I know friends and business etc. Met him on the 1st day of school at grade 10 Football tryout, have survived 2 failed business ventures together , 1 very sucessfull business and I still can't get rid of him. We need todo some work on her this winter but plan to have her ready for spring Cats in The Grand River in April. That's when the 15 pound plus beasts are on the feed bag.

The very 1st time I took my lady icefishing on Erie for perch I just dropped her line down the hole and she got a fish on. I leaned over the hole to get it and my brand new Oakley 's dropped straight down 8'. By the time I put a treble hook on my line to grapple it the current took it for a ride. I was famous for dropping my phone down the toilet. You got some esplainin' to do Lucy. Rain, rain go away. I don't like snow but will take it after what seems like 3 months of rain. Bad for the old bones and joints.

WE paid a buck cover charge to get into a club in Hamilton called The Rock Pile in the early 70's to see Rush. The greatest rock drummers call him the greatest of all time. The price is up there starting at 500 bucks the last time I looked. A few of us old guys were talking about going to the truck and heavy equipment bone yard here and taking out one of the drivers seats that do the same thing. It ain't rocket science to install one. They are heavy yes but so are the seats they sell for boats. Charlie Wray that has the fishing show has one on his Crestliner and he advertises them. I sat in his at the marine dealer we both go to. It would be nice. Yep those are bigguns, 2 fillets will feed 4 hungry folks. Cheeks bigger than toonies. We all save the cheeks and have a cheek only feast the end of the year.

I didn't get the bottom of the boat wet last year. Hopefully with all the therapy I've taken my back will hold up for a few trips out here on Erie and up north this year. Many things have changed since you took your hiatus Roy. Some members can't even discuss hockey without going off the rails and getting personal. Art has been doing a great job in your absence.

I love the optimism and dedication you ice guys have. I met a couple from Barrie last year in The Dominican Republic. His wife said "He's looks so miserable because he thinks he should be icefishing."

Make an offer on the last day of the show of you are seriously buying. It costs dealers money to trailer the inventory back to their dealerships.

A tip I learned fishing in Florida years ago when using live shrimp Cliff. IN the head of the shrimp you will see a dark spot that is the brain. Pierce your baitholder hook in front or behind it. The shrimp will live for quite a long time. The best thing about using shrimp and Calamari as bait is if they don't catch fish you can eat the bait. I once asked Frank from "Fishin' Franks Live Bait and Tackle" in Charlotte Harbor FLA. What's the difference between these shrimp and the shrimp from the store and he said these shrimp are fresher. We buy shrimp rings for big Catfish on the Grand River down here. Often we have eaten more on the boat than we used for bait.

I always used raw shrimp, not peeled or cleaned or strips of raw Calamari below a casting float a few split shot and a baitholder hook or Pickerel rigs we use for Perch or icefishing, pretty simple. Casting Rappalas like body baits and crank baits always caught fish, if shallow not many with size. Usually Pin Fish. Just remember to wash your tackle and rods and reels in fresh water, salt water will rust your set ups and tackle.

There is an entire generation that do not know how far out on a branch you can climb before the branch breaks. There are Gen Xers and millennials that never learned to ride a bike because their parents, some of us, thought it was too dangerous. let alone climb a tree. The same may have applied here if the group went off the grid, no common sense of danger. I'm sure there will be an inquest and hopefully it answers some questions the families will have.

Exactly. You wouldn't believe the crap locals have to use. They are fishing to feed their families not like we do for fun. I always leave tackle for them even if I don't fish. Anything baseball is much appreciated too. Again the crap the kids use is terrible. The same goes for The Dominican Republic. Fishing down there is simple. A hook a line and some fish guts, sometimes a rod and reel. Anything you bring will catch fish. When you do go fishing don't bring the kitchen sink with you, kids will be begging for stuff all day if you have it. Be careful, don't venture out fishing at night alone. Desperate people can do desperate things. I've fished Cuba a dozen times or more. There are inland lakes that hold 10lb Large Mouth. They are all charters with a boat and guide. Welcome aboard Crimsongulf. Hay Bay is smack dab in the middle of some of the best Walleye fishing in North America. Fished Hay Bay every fall up to a few years ago. We used downriggers and planner boards to get the bait to the Walleye but you can do it with a 14'er without all the stuff as well. Just heed all the wind and weather reports before going out. The Bay of Quinte can be a mean mother at the drop of a hat. My condolences to your team and yourself this past season. We can't win the National Championship every year even if coach Saban and we expect to. I am a Bama fan as well.

Of course they do Paul. No one is going to sponsor any TV show where 2 guys are just fishing. Just like those TV shows where people are cooking, remodelling homes, gold mining, driving 53' rigs, tow truck operators and the list is long, even now toe nail trimmers and even pimple poppers. Fun Wow!!! Thousands of movie and television stars are now homeless because of Reality TV. Oh the tragedy of it all.
