  1. Funny stuff, thanks, I need it.
  2. No pants, on the 407. Listen Constable, Sir, I mean Mame no Miss oh geesh, I really was fishing.
  3. Apologize, exactly for what? An opinion from a man of respect? We are of the same era and age. We are at that age now when I hear from an old friend I don't say " Hey how are you doing?" Now it seems I have to say " What's wrong?" when I pick up the phone and it usually isn't good. We don't seem to get any good news anymore. Just like the terrible news you just gave us, it sucks, absolutely sucks. We have never met personally but it feels like I've known you for years and it chokes me up to read the pain in your writing tonight. There isn't anything I can say here other than I love you man. Be tough, your family needs you more now than probably any other time in your life. Apologize,,,,,,, I'll give you an apologize. Enough said.
  4. If it's only gas that is expelled from the intestines that's not bad at all. Think twice before letting one rip in those rubber chastity suits, it might be a wet one, then you have a real problem my friends, a real messy problem. Gives a entire different meaning to float fishing.
  5. That's what I call entertainment, watching guys go to work, fun wow. Ice Road Truckers is my educated and rather cerebral wife's favorite guilty pleasure. I have tried to watch it and have to leave the room it's so badly scripted. Then I find I have to come back to see what happened for the same cliff hanger before each and every commercial, did the 52 foot rig go through the ice and drown the trucker in a cold watery icy grave? They never go through the ice and no one ever dies on reality TV but we wait for something that never happens on TV. Trucking on those roads is a dangerous profession at 27 cents a kilometer to boot. Wicked Tuna is my guilty pleasure, I started watching it this summer and I haven't missed a North vs. South. Nice fat in the vein, good marble, great core you should get maybe,,,,,,, wait,,,,,,,,wait,,,,,,, $18.00 a pound. It's the same show each and every episode and I love it, the Dr's don't know why. The sad thing is these guys are risking their lives, that's not scripted and that's real, and that Tuna is going for $1000.00 a pound or more in Tokyo, that's not fair. Someone is making huge money and it's not the fisherman. Another good one is the fishing guys in Newfoundland, it's Cold Water Cowboys, they are speaking English in Canada and we need English subtitles to know what they are saying. that's funny. Ontario and NFLB, two distinct cultures separated by a common language.
  6. I think that the main reason this thread has remained civil is because the OP is Big Cliff, he is one of the most generous and caring persons I have ever come across. His reputation of being so has preceded him. I dare anyone to start name calling him. He has an opinion that we might not all agree with but because of who he is and what he does for strangers we respect the man and therefor his opinion.
  7. That's the best news I've heard not just today but the best news I've heard for a very long time. Just last week I got a bad call from a very old friend, found a tumor on both lungs. So even though I really don't know you both I'm cheering for a fast uneventful recovery up that way. Now it's time to plan that Xmas party, what time should we all be there!!!?
  8. I used to get Fishmasters to winterize the 115 Merc and shrinkwrap for around $275.00, I learned how to winterize it last year and it's so simple if I can do it anyone can. Watched UTube videos and watched it done once on a pals. I provided the lower gear lube and fogging spray. I don't know if any plumbers anti freeze was used in the livewells and bilge. I didn't see that done on UTube or the pals boat but did it on my own last year. I thought I came up with that on my own, heck I was going to patent the procedure! LOL. I even changed the fuel line and bulb!!!! It all took at least 45 minutes, no more than an hour including removing the battery for a first timer last year. It was 225 for the shrinkwrap this year from Fishmasters. Yes you got fleeced, that price is ludicrous even if they tuned it up and changed the fuel filter, I did that too on my own, if you knew my mechanical dexterity you all would be amazed.
  9. I bought my last pack of cigarettes on OCT, 12th. I've tried to quit several times. Always failed. The plan was to go cold Turkey. I would slip to give myself a reason to start smoking again. Previously I would slip and say to myself That's it, I smoked, I failed, hand me a cigarette. I'm going into it this time saying you will slip, it's not the end of the world, don't waste 3 weeks of pain, you aren't a loser, you are human. Have that smoke and forget it. The next thing I knew the taste was terrible and I threw it away after 3 puffs. It's working. 3 cigarettes since Oct 14th, not bad from 2 plus packs a day.
  10. Beauties all. Sorry I really don't wish to hijack a thread but I wonder who could I.D. all the lures on the table? I have everyone of those oldies I believe, some doubles too. Any opinions on what the rarest lure there is on that table?
  11. That would be DP HH, an acronym for displaced person, a category on the Immigration application I was told by my DP Mom.
  12. I misspoke you can't run Apple on anything but a Mac. Right?
  13. Incredible strength, just amazing. God is that being that I don't believe in however am sure afraid of.
  14. 2 year old thread, ah man really, I hope the above helps. I better pay a little more attention to detail. However I see the great one is thinking about a Christmas present for his wife. My wife won't touch the laptop and won't let go of her Asus tablet. If you take away anything from what I wrote remember the tablet is the book, the operating system is the content.
  15. I am in the same boat as you. We were able to go PC free here since about 2004 until 2012 and actually made it all the way through without a serious injury up to and including death. Imagine no computer in the house for 8 years and not one 9-1-1 call for lack of information, not one. So now it's November 1st 2012 and because of something I'm doing to generate some income to cover fuel costs for the boat the past season I didn't have, I need to put some green in my Blue Jeans. I went to Future Shop and immediately nearly had a nervous breakdown right on the spot. The last PC I bought had a 56K dial up modem, the big decision was a built in or external modem. XL was the new operating system and I was told to stay away from it, a fad that wouldn't last. Huge 12" screen. 4Gs, just massive and fast. Don't forget XL will never last, and those big easy to read graphic icons are so childish they are a flash in the pan fad too. that was 10 years ago Now here I stand shaking as I stare across the store and see my wife watching a TV with 3D glasses on. Does anyone other than another 58 year old man squeezed into his leather High School football jacket have any idea what it means to be scared sh^t less? My wife seemed to be enamoured with both the touch screen and the 20 year old sales clerk. So I said they don't have what your looking for here lets go and off we went to Fast Computers in Hagersville, a nice small little Mom and Pop jammed between a slice at a serving Pizzeria and the local Insurance broker. They had a touch screen on display and I told the young clerk this PC will be used to 1) peruse the internet, 2) download music, 3) download photos and manage both 2 and 3. It is all in what the tablets operating system has the tablet is just the book, front cover back cover, binder and blank pages within. That's the tablet, what is written on the page is what you need to know, make sure it's in English. I was told by the salesman and owner that the Asus tablet I was about to purchase for $600.00 was exactly what I needed. The operating system was something called Windows8 RT, one problem with 8RT, can't download music of any format with it, can not be used with any Apple product, I Pad, I Pod, IPee, IPoo. No music therefor. The reason for this was exactly what I told the owner it was for, download music, 100% guarantee I was told..........Get it in writing is the smart thing to do I guess, he said I didn't specify it was for an Ipod. I guess that's the world we are in today, even in the Mom and Pop electronics shop in little old Hagersville whos 15 minutes of fame when they nearly burnt the place to the ground when a few million stored tires caught fire one cold miserable winters night. Heck that fire is still the talk of the town 20 some years latter, not everyday CNN is in town. I do use the Asus touch screen often, battery lasts 10 times longer, more perhaps than my big heavy laptop. The laptop came with zero, nada nothing programs, each separate program costs $$, I have never had to buy a program, MS doesn't sell them they rent them by the month, smart move Bill. Its portability is the best, no turning and sliding the laptop across the dinning room table to look at this or that, one arthritic hand and pick it up and hand it over. Everywhere you go you bring a good digital camera and movie camera, the family movies and wedding pictures. I think all about 12 oz. The next PC I buy will be an Asus tablet, what will operate it, maybe Mac. But a tablet for sure and use the laptop as a back up,,,,,, with Word.
  16. " What a stupid thread ", smartest thing here yet. Scuro I know a few immigrants that pay a mil each a year in taxes, lazy, lazy social welfare cases that won't assimilate because they refuse to eat Kraft Dinner.
  17. Big Cliff I believe you do have a problem with immigration policy, no problem, if anyone would be able to outline the policy I'm all ears. Refugee status is something entirely different. And from what your initial post says perhaps a problem with the immigrants. Something about culture and traditions I think you said. I can't use the quote feature here. Our culture and traditions or thiers? I'm a first generation Canadian from my Mothers side, she's American, both parents of Italian decent, father born here and raised in Italy so second generation with an asterisk. I remember a grade school teacher complaining about all that foreign food that reeks of tomato and garlic in the hallway in her apartment building and looked at me. I was mouthy even at 11, so I asked her why she has to live in an Apt and if she bought a house she wouldn't smell it and why was she at Viscas Restaurant last month eating smelly Italian food with tomato and garlic, and if she didn't spend money on restaurants she could buy a home like my immigrant family did. You did answer your own question about all the facilities that will be needed to serve all these immigrants, we will build them as we are everywhere in Hamilton, get paid to do so and pay taxes on our income to provide the bricks and mortar. I am no economist but I call that economic groth. And we will build more for future immigrants.
  18. Canuck, Halibut, fergid aboud it. Yea why not, it's just an outdoor deep fryer. Par fried fish? Again why not. I've never done it, actually never heard of it, I'm thinking among other things why not just fry it once?
  19. Yea I understand what you both are saying. I have been trying to teach my wife the difference between a pound and a kilo for 23 years. I think I should give up. She looks at a piece of meat in the display case and divides the price by 2, that's what each of our meals will cost??????? If it's 5 bucks each or less she buys it. Oh my lord!! I surrender. I don't know how a young working family with children let alone teens can survive these days. Dave we were born in the right time. Get off the bus on Burlington Street and get a job for 30 years and even get a pension, for how long I'm not sure, but today, furgit aboud it.
  20. A younger pal has a 60 Big foot on a 17" Lund, he says it's underpowered and wants a 115 4 stroke so he can tear off his transom. He has boosted HP up to 70 HP easily with some fuel air tweeks and says he can get 75HP with some aftermarket doodad. He always wants to go faster and we always get to the same spot with me putting along at 3500 RPM but I do have a 115 on a much heavier 19 footer. Why the need to max out RPM always has me shaking my head now as I'm older and poorer. Run 3/4 of max RPM and you will still get to where you are going with change in your pocket for the next fill up. And the engine will last forever. Easy for me to say now that I'm 60. I had a 70 Stingray with a 454 4 banger, I remember the need for speed. If your looking for speed buy something faster than a 60. Good luck on the purchase.
  21. That looks great Brian. I just ate turkey and bet I could find room for a wing from that beauty. I've never tried any but am thinking about getting one. Did you save the oil for next time? Maybe too much fat to save unless refrigerated it I'm thinking. That thing would make fast work of fish, no? When we have 20 pounds or more of Walleye and Perch for our August family fry it would save me much time. Anyone done fish with one? I can't see why not. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
  22. Terry it was windfinder.com and Sailflow.com that predicted up to 72KPH winds for today and yesterday. Never happened here thankfully but I planned for golf and not fishing, I would always prefer fishing any day because I know I won't loose money playing a 5 dollar Nassau fishing. The Weather Network and Bing was bang on at 15K or less, here at least. I figured with a 70K wind I might hit my driver like the old days! Regardless what 2 beautiful days these have been no matter what you plan. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
  23. How is it every time a discussion starts about gas prices the conversation morphs into burning tires and blockades of roads? Off to the rez to fill the truck.
  24. Good one Gallie, you even have the beard and Tartan to go with the name. Must be the luck of the Gaelic. OK just one more. The fastball team decides to get together on Chelsey Lake. My kid brother's idea of fishing is picking the Lobster from the tank in a 5 star eatery. He joins everyone with his spanking new Popeil Pocket Fisherman, complete with handy carrying case. Well everyone is on the floor howling because you have to know this brother of mine. Roughing it means the Penthouse suite at the Lauderdale Harbor Beach Marriott is booked and there isn't an ocean view. He also goes out and buys a fishing vest and matching hat complete with flies attached. By Sunday night he not only wins biggest fish with a 4 pound Largemouth, most fish and most species with Large and Small Bass, Walleye, Pike and Perch. He out fished all 12 guys with that Popeil Pocket Fisherman!!
  25. I regularly get our fuel on the rez. Not a problem ever, but, and I repeat but, I have friends there and they tell me which ones to use and which to avoid. If I can buy anything for less as long as it isn't a federal offence and is not morally wrong and the quality is equal I will buy it. From Gas to green beans. Politics be damned. For anyone that frequents the 6 Nations or New Credit reserves PM me and I will pass that info on. Jack prices to $1.50 then drop it 25 cents and we are all jumping for joy like the little sheep we are. Up to 10 years or so a liter of gas was always 1 percent of the price of a barrel of oil. How they come up with what the cost of a liter of gas is now is far beyond me. Is there anyone here that could enlighten me somewhat as to how they come up with gas prices today or must one be a forensic accountant to know the formula?
