I was in the same boat a while back when i got hooked on Musky fishing. I purchased a new abu garcia 5600 series baitcater on ebay for $65 bucks shipping included and bought a bass pro shop 7 ft. heavy action baitcaster rod at the store.. Awesome reel and I have been happy with the rod also. Best money I have ever spent on gear i must say!!

I asked the same question here the other day T.J And a few of the members have said the smelts could start running anytime after a good hard rain.. Andy and I are hopefully smelting in Britt next Saturday and your more than welcome to tag along. If the smelts arent running when we get there I guess we'll just have ta drink carlings all night buy a fire. eat jalapeno kippers, fart, and tell stupid jokes all night!

Or maybe they haven't even started yet? I haven't swooped up a good feed of smelts in a coons age . Does anyone make the yearly pilgrimage to catch and taste these scrumptions?

Lots of good tunes holdfast But if your fishing in darkness I would suggest Ronnie James Dio.. Anything he did from Black Sabbath or the Dio - Holy diver cd.. Fishing at night listening to DIO still gives me the eeby geebys!!
