  1. Why do you need a fish cleaning station?
  2. I'm old school and when it comes to pike and especially in a pressured area, I'll use anything shiny. The best thing you can use is something like a Toronto wobbler. It's an easy bait to use and once you've found their depth, you can then switch to whatever you like.....if it moves, it's food.
  3. That's a decent one Mike. In almost 60 years of fishing both the Larry and the Ottawa I think the biggest I've gotten was about 10 pounds. I never did understand why......nor have I tried to find out really. It might be because pike are not the top of the chain here. Muskie gets big but muskie is a warm water fish where pike is a colder water fish. Maybe that's the answer. I went out today mainly to sit in the sun and it showed...I came home around 3:30 with two white stripes on my back. Spent most of my time pulling fat baits through skinny water. Not a smart move today.
  4. The rules are very simple. It's one rod per licensed angler everywhere whether you're shore fishing or in a boat. By the time you get a large enough boat to fish the Great Lakes, you'll learn very quickly where the two rod rules apply.
  5. That's beauty! A really nice bass, Monique. Thanks for the post. Hope to see you both REAL soon! What did you fool that fish with, Monique? And TJ, I need a Jiggy Jiggy hat.
  6. Thanks guys for keeping this one on the right path. And thanks Mike, you haven't far to go, you'll be as hot as anyone else out there. Art, you're absolutely right! You said, "I have followed Pete Mania as well and when the two of you get into a room together I envy anyone else who is in the room to listen to the knowledge that is present." I've been fortunate and have had the privilege of doing that in my home with an added bonus. John Gillespie of Waters and Woods (52 shows a year ain't no chicken scratch!) As stern as I look in the pic, I LMAO all the time they were there and learned a ton of stuff. So, from left to right we have Marc, Pete, John and their cameraman. It was just a wonderful day.
  7. I appreciate your concern and tact Simon but when someone needs/wants help with something, steering them to a place that can do just that is no problem at all. In fact it's commendable. Thanks
  8. Yes, thanks Marc. I didn't know whether you'd have time to respond so soon. By the sounds of things, I'll have to call room service and see if I can order up several more years on this earth to learn....maybe a speed reading course and a few more weeks on the water with you. Then again, I may not be cut out for this stuff.
  9. No electronics or firearms usually.

Very nice Lew. Let's see if this link works. http://www.ccrodsocks.com/
  11. Yeah I remember, Paul. We're old people and sometimes can't do things for ourselves so Marc drops by to bring us meals and such.
  12. One of the nicest photos I've ever seen here. I really like the colour contrasts. Thanks for posting, Bryan.
  13. You're a nutcase, Paul.
  14. I just got off the phone with him (he's on the hunt right now with clients) and apologized for posting this without permission. He was very kind and told me there was no problem....if it'll help someone, then great. Marc will probably show up tonight or very early morning to add his comments. He seems to be doing very well even in the last coupla week's blistering heat. Good for him.
  15. Yes, I'd like to know and then answer that one too.
  16. Hush up now...if everyone thought that way, Oshawa, Peterborough and a bunch of others would become clusterbleeps as well. A lot of people are happy there and so it should be.
  17. That's incorrect. It's a long convoluted story but they're not the least bit related. Far from it in fact.
  18. Great report Johnny. I'm really glad everything fell back into place for you and your family. Have a super holiday.
  19. Someone was mentioning warm weather muskie fishing here a short while back and I thought I would post this. There aren't that many people committed enough to the species to actually do this. Apparently, this muskie was suffering from severe swim bladder issues. Marc never takes fish out of the water in these hot temperatures and that works out well but every once in a while one will have problems stabilizing at release. You can get a few more details on this on his FB account. I swear the man communicates with these fish. ps. I don't have Marc's permission to post this but I assume if he posted to Facebook that it's ok to post it here.
  20. Beautiful fish! Well done, Ben. As exciting as the landing of that fish was, the cheering and encouragement from the rest of the family is really special. Good on ya all.
  21. That's a great example of mammatus, Lew.
  22. I would have told him to leave the tires alone then. If you only have 90 days to go you don't need them changed.
  23. They're called "mammatus" (Latin for "udders") and form at the base of a storm cloud. Great pics, Joey!
  24. Hey Jacques! Since when?
  25. A super trip for you and your brother, Dan. Congrats to you! You should be ashamed of yourself posting specific spots like that on the board though. Before you know it there'll be 1,000 dudes shoulder to shoulder on shore flossing walleye and pike.
