i never fished Simcoe but maybe try using tubes? It's a slower presentation and it can get closer to the bottom-huggin fish. i'm no expert though ...

i go to the university of waterloo so i'm living on campus right now .. however my rods/reels are in Toronto so i can't practice in here ... good luck though!

i'm also new to this baitcaster thing and seem to have a similar problem ... i can cast under hand (casting straight out or to my right) with some accuracy and without problem but when i try doing backhand (casting to my left) it just doesn't go where i want it to... i'm waiting for the replies as well ... great thread!

You made me wait for quite some time for this one! So i guess it is true that you guys never fail to catch fish ... and the bigguns too! Cliff, you might have to spy on what carole does to her red devil spoon ... i think you just have to give your lures some love ... i.e. hugging them to sleep, bring them to work, take them for a swim every so often *shh* i haven't been doing any of those so that's the reason why i don't catch fish ...

i have never done a canoe trip on the Grand but i have been fishing the bridgeport area quite a bit from shore lately. The water levels have been down low since mid May and hasn't gone up ...

o Wow! those are some great pics Randy ... i love the bent rod one. Catching small ones at your swim is common... but 1lb fish at the Grand? lol. it's sad. i still love to see their silvery color though. lets hope we have something to report on saturday.
