  1. Hearingfish, I called this afternoon. They told me it doesn't matter. If you set foot on the ice with your portable, it's got to be registered. Leaving it there or NOT.
  2. Yes registration is free, but you have to register through that district office that your fishing in. This means that if you move to different lakes or districts you need a new number. Your hut will look like a bill board, how are you going to put the numbers on. Paint, sew, stick, etc. With all the pounding around, stick ons won't last. Paint, what happens if you sell your portable the number stays with the hut under your name. What a nightmare. Anyone want to buy a Clam? LOL!
  3. I don't know if this was posted before. This is a heads up for all portable fish hut owners. Any portable hut used more than 2 Square Metres (21.5 square feet) have to be registered. The only exception is zone 1-8,18 I called the ministry, and they say thats correct. What a bunch of bull Check page 11 in the new regs. Example: On L. Simcoe you will need 2 numbers East & West if you want to fish the whole lake.
  4. As someone said, pay in US. funds or use your credit card, say you want to pay in US. funds. Would that cut the Mustard? Or would they ding you at the end of it all? With just the GAS issue , I'll shop local. But it's still nice to go there and tease yourself.
  5. I thank you guys very much for your input. I see a few things that have been mentioned that may help. I'll be sending this thread to our clubs executive. I probably should have mentioned The Stelco, and Dofasco clubs run on a 75%, 25%. employee & outside associate membership, which makes things a little difficult to bring outsiders in. On the other hand, the Golden Horseshoe club is open for everyone. Anglers helping anglers, that's what it's all about,"OFC" I thank you all again very much for your help. PS Terry, whats wrong with flipping the Mods a few chicken Wings once in awhile. lol Gerritt, see you at the next meeting bud. Bring that Spiel Guy!lol
  6. Greencoachdog, like Wayne says, social night out. We have member fish contests, seminars, small fun derby's ( different species ), volunteer projects, displays, swap nights, sell unwanted tackle, etc. Very good point Wayne. I mentioned at one of the meetings that the young people want to spend their money on fish tourneys, not the little stuff. And your right about getting info on the net. Thanks
  7. If the gas keeps going up, you'll get a good buy in the classifieds. But I guess it's just a day out.
  8. Are fishing clubs a dying thing? Just looking for some input. I belong to 3 different clubs, and the memberships are dropping big time. When we have meetings this topic is brought up all the time. looking around the room their seems to be less and less people, and the ones that are there have GRAY hair ( old Guys ), no Young blood. Is it because people haven't got the time, they can't be bothered,no interest? I'm looking for reasons that you wouldn't want to be a club member or maybe you have dropped out of a club for some reason. If I can get some input hear, I'll print this out and bring this thread to the executive meetings. Stelco Fishing Club Dofasco Fishing Club Golden Horseshoe Outdoors Club Straitline Angling Club Thank you very much Fish Farmer Dave ( one of the old guys trying to help )
  9. Right on Chris! Plus your not draging the poop ( Guts ) through the meat
  10. Metal verses Plastic . Should I say anymore. I've had big Jons for at least 30 years and there still FISHIN .
  11. I have the Clam Guide as well, I removed the seats and brackets in it, they are very heavy. I sit on pails. Makes it easier to pull in the snow. I used a little piece of rubber back carpet under the pails so they don't slide around in the tub. Now I have the seats setting in my basement wasting space. Would be nice if you could buy the clam with no seats, would be a little cheaper. And when someone tells you they're hard to pull in the snow by hand, you better have a good ticker. Try pulling it for 3,4,5 miles .
  12. Thanks for the heads up. I hope it's smaller and easier to read.
  13. You say black marks, not seeing, it's not mold is it?
  14. Catch a Big Bow and you mite win one I know, Smart ass right.
  15. I just hang mine in the hole with nothing. You don't need anything, as long as it points strait down.
  16. So that what you do at the new Yankee work shop
  17. Greencoachdog Corn on the cob, fried Spud's, Fried fish, And does that look like Tomato chow chow, You are the MAN . Some good eatin there! My vote, Brown Trout
  18. Last year I boated a lot of fish just drifting Lucky Strike Silver Victor Spinners tipped with a worm. With wind speed and depth of the fish on your Graph add a split shot or 2,3,4 to get down to were you figure the fish are.(Tip: Tie a stinger hook on the spinner) Trolling with all that other crap on your line is not much fun, I do it, but I'd sooner catch a Sheephead, better fight. Dragging a Walleye in with 6 other lines out is not much fun just to get a picture holding a Big Hog. I get more fight walking my dog down the street. I'll be there again in a couple weeks doing the same stupid thing trolling for an entree in the clubs. Nothing like drifting and jigging for (Pickerel) More Funner , sometimes you can find a school of fish away from the crowds. Watch the wind, when the wind is blowing into the bay the fish are in, blowing out, the fish are out. A lot of guys cast at night in the harbour off the docks and do very well. Good Luck
