I also agree with Jed C. The north shores are also protected from the cold north winds in the early spring time. However, walleyes like the wind side of a lake once the water warms up a bit. Bob

The LCX-38C is a fine unit but also very expensive. It all depends on your needs and your budget. Bob

The more important manual setting would be increasing sensitivity, ping speed and chart speed. The automatic settings are really handcuffing you from getting the best out of your unit.

The more government gets involved the worst things get. If you Really want to accomplish something make people take a test before they get married and definitely a class and pass a test before they can have children. Then you MIGHT make a difference

VERY nice catch. I wish more anglers would practice catch and release as you demonstrated here. Keeping one or two for a nice meal and letting the rest go is the foundation to better fishing in the future. Bob

Read the regs before you fish! ( dead musky report)

Boy, I can't agree more with that statement. -
BECAUSE YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO LISTEN ! ! ! This seams to happen to me a lot also

Open a special savings account and deposit $40 per month into it. If you need repairs the money's there for you, if not it there for your next vehicle. The reason dealers are so exited about selling extended warranties is because it's a BIG money maker on their part. Bob

If your really set on Optima Batteries they can be had for only $159.00 at Sam's Club here and that is still over priced IMHO. Delco Voyager Batteries are a better buy for the price and durability.
-
BINGO ! ! !
-
That's still WAY over priced IMHO. Walmart and Sam's Club has deep cycle group 27 batteries here for under $65

Man, I'll second the Delco Voyager battery. I have one as my main battery that starts the big motor and runs EVERYTHING except my trolling motor. Every year for the last 4-5 years I say to myself I need to replace that battery but it last through the season again. This battery must be 9 or 10 years old now and it still kicking very well. It has outlasted SEVERAL deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor. And the nice thing about this battery is it is SEALED and maintenance free. That really helps me because it a chore to remove this battery to check the cells for water. Now the problem with this Delco Voyager Battery. WHERE TO GET ONE ? ? ? ? I have looked everywhere here and can't find one. Anyone purchased a Delco lately.

I NEVER did buy that excuse because how can someone in China who makes $3 a day afford $4 per gallon gasoline. I also agree that you Canadians should have much lower gas prices. Just think how your economy would boom just for the summer months alone with Americans going on fishing/vacation trips if the cost of gasoline was much cheaper than in the states. The cottage industry must be fuming with whats going on in gas prices in Canada. The bubble will burst sooner or later I just hope I am still standing when it does.

I did something better. After I realized that working was putting a huge strain on my fishing time I decided to retire at the ripe old age of 48. Problems gone

Boycott THAT Tim Horton's not all of them. They are a franchise business so the corporate Tim Horton's doesn't have anything to do with it. I drive the senior citizens to doctor appointments one day a week for the senior center in my town. I often go through Timmy's for medium cup of coffee. All the different (there are many) Timmy's here charge me $1.45 for the med coffee except one that charges $1.46 because that manager wants to get every last cent he can from his customers. The other Timmy's must round it down with tax to $1.45 so you know which one I avoid if I can for that extra cup of joe in the morning

I get two of these huge catalogs from Cabela's each year not to mention some kind of catalog each WEEK ! ! ! I guess they know when they got a big sucker on the line

Do what you want with your outboard but I have and still enjoy the VRO system and will continue to do so. It has treated me VERY well for over 20 years now and my outboard runs better because of it. Trolling doesn't foul the plugs and when I gas up it a snap because I only have to add gasoline and not worry about how much oil I should put in and spill all over. Johnson's VRO system is the reason I purchased this outboard

Sinker, your right you hardly see "boat" trailer tires balanced and you will never see one balanced from a dealer because 1) they probably don't have a tire balancing machine 2) this raises the cost of their product HOWEVER, I HIGHLY recommend having them balanced. This will save unneeded trailer vibrations and tire wear. If you are only towing the boat a few miles then I guess it's not a big deal. But I have towed my rig all over the US and Ontario and being a mechanic I wouldn't dream of towing a boat trailer without having the tires properly balanced. BTW call one of your local travel trailer dealers and ask them if it's a good idea to have your tires balanced on your trailer (don't say boat trailer). I will bet you a dozen night crawlers that they say YES have the tires balanced.
-
Tire BALANCE is definitely a cause to tire wear. I wouldn't tow a trailer of any kind any distance without the tires being balanced. Bob

Johnson's VRO oil injection will make the motor run MUCH cleaner and run much better when used. If you are worried about the environment fix the leak because when trolling or running on slow speeds you are using much less oil then a pre-mix 50-1 mixture. My 50 hp Johnson is 23 years old and the oil injection has never failed. The motors are equipped with a warning buzzer to warn you of low oil or no oil. Now everyone here who has had a oil injection motor BLOW because the injection system failed raise your hands. I didn't think so. Get the small leak fixed and enjoy your fishing. Bob

I'll second that on the stupid container. First time I used it the handle broke off it If I don't catch any fish on the Gulp bait I will send it back to them for a refund

I fished Lake Erie yesterday for perch. Since our ban on getting live emerald shiners I had to use salted emeralds. On a perch rig I caught 4 LARGE perch and 3 smallmouth which were all taken on the salted minnow while the new Berkley Gulp "alive" minnow produced NOTHING. I am not giving up on them but just thought I would report my finding so far. Lake Erie perch are VERY fussing to catch but I did think I should of at least caught 1 or 2 smallmouths on the Gulp bait.

I believe Lowrance makes a portable packs that can be used on many of their units. Just go to the unit you are interested in and then click the accessory tab. Here's their website. http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine...shfinders/X67C/

Walleye Fishing Lake Ontario and Lake Erie
Billy Bob replied to Pmacdonald's topic in General Discussion
Graveboat, I hate to disagree and don't want to start a argument but this is not true. I can't tell the original poster where to go on the Canadian side starting this weekend but I could steer him in the proper areas on the NY side of the lake. Barcelona will be "HOT" as well as the Hamburg shore line in the SHALLOWS at NIGHT. The fish have or are on spawn now and cruise the shallow waters here at night for a easy meal. Limit catches are not uncommon to those who know how to troll shallow water late into the night. On your side of the lake concentrate on shallow flats that have some rock rubble. These areas are not big secrets and every local walleye fishermen know exactly where to troll at night while these easily caught walleyes are cruising for something to eat. '' Later on in July through September the traditional walleye fishing begins in Lake Erie which mean trolling open waters for suspended walleyes. Good Luck, Bob -
How do Down Riggers and Planner Boards Work?

Damn, now "he's" going to know everything and catch all my fish
