I have the US Eastern States 2008 Premium Hot Spots Maps and so far the mapping on 3 different lakes including Lake Erie has been dead nuts on. I am ready to purchase the 2008 Canadian chip this week while I have a $20 off coupon from Cabela's plus the $50 rebate plus $85 in Cabela's Bucks. It don't get no better than that

I was going to suggest Navionics 2008 Premium Hot Maps because there is a $50 rebate going on until 12/31/08 HOWEVER, I do NOT see Simcoe on the list. It might be a misprint and a quick email to Navionics will answer that. Here's the lake list site for you. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/...avionics08.html

Shake, shimmy, turns hard, turning seems loose. I hate to say it but this stuff is just something that has to be expected. I did once have the steering break on me, now that's a problem when you're a few miles from the launch. Have fun with your new boat and REMEMBER the definition of a boat is ............. hole in the water you keep pouring money into

BINGO, you hit the nail right on the head. I have a friend that has the same boat/motor/trailer as mine, both are over 20 years old. His is covered and left outside were mine has never spent any time outside (stored in the garage) unless it was fishing. He has had to replace his complete plywood floor and has had MANY electrical problems with this year a on-board fire. I in turn have had 23 years of trouble free fishing from my vessel. I understand not everyone can store a boat inside but IF you can it really makes a world of difference. Bob

You don't give enough info on what vehicle you are interested in buying. But anyways, for comparison I towed for 5 years with a Ford Escape that had a V-6. Towing my boat was never a problem but then we purchased a pop up trailer to go out west in 2006 that weighed 3000 lbs loaded. We struggled going over the continental divided twice but that was at 11,000 feet. We towed that trailer 6,500 miles in 30 days without any break downs. That's more than most tow in there careers

Take at look at this outfitter. I was here mid July this year. Good people and top notch everything. http://www.air-ivanhoe.com/ Bob

Do you think he was giving you some "BUNK" LOL When we had several local bait dealers here I could pick and choose to the one I wanted to buy my bait from but they ALL lied about almost everything when it came to fishing. One guy always gave a glowing report on the lake he was located on. Problem was if you paid attention he said the same thing every spring on where the fish were as well as summer and fall. He was a broken record. If he only spent a little time cleaning up the joint it wouldn't of smell so bad in there and he might be still in business today

I fished Big Gull Lake several times. Stayed at Kirk's Kove. The walleye and pike fishing was always good with smallmouth bass being on the small side. But I was always there in July. Good Luck and give a report on how you do. Bob

I believe Monday is the first day of fall. PLEASE DON'T use that 6 letter word until at least November 15th. Enjoy fall, it's one of the nicest times of the year. Well that's my rant of the day. Bob

I consider Lake Erie the BEST smallmouth lake not only in Ontario but probably the world and at the latest Bass Master Elite Tournament held in Buffalo 7/31 - 8/03/08 the top 106 pro anglers caught 1328 bass weighing 4138 lbs. That's a average of only 3.11 lbs. Even a small hidden back lake that no one knows about is hard pressed to have a 4 lb bass average. I don't want to call anyone a liar but maybe your numbers are a little messed up here. If not it's getting a little deep in here, where are my waders

OK, relax. Jack up that wheel again and give it a nice spin. Does it spin real good. Is it noisy if so you have a problem. If not check for end play again. It that is OK you don't have a serious problem but you should replace the inner seal ASAP. You don't have to redo everything now if you just have time to replace the inner seal. If you don't have time to replace the seal check the temperature of the hub after about 50 miles. If it is NOT hot enjoy your fishing trip.

WOW, I didn't know we had that many doctors on this forum. Now I understand how so many can afford all the fishing they do

My local tackle store went into Paint Ball crap and over the years completely did away with hunting/fishing equipment. So he abandoned me But that's OK because Cabela's is now my BEST friend

Credit card is almost the best way but surely the most convenient way to go. My credit card company charges 1% to convert my money as do most other credit cards. If you really want to go with cash the BEST by far is stopping at Fort Erie Race Track and going into the CASINO part. They ALWAYS give the best exchange rate and they are only 2 minutes from the Peace Bridge with easy in and out off the QEW. I have done this several times and if the wife is with me I let her play the slots for 5-10 minutes. A couple times she hit enough to pay for our fishing licenses

As FISHERMAN has mentioned if it meets or exceeds the required specs that is all you need to know. I have been using Walmart brand (Super Tech) for many years now because it meets or exceeds my specs for less than half the price of Johnson oil. I have seen NO difference in over 10 years of use

I have natural gas but have been heating with a wood stove for about 5 years now. It's a LOT of work but really pays off with temps between 70-74 degrees without even trying. I get 6 cords of wood each year at $50 per cord but I have to haul it in. So what I pay for a total yearly supply of wood others are paying each month for gas. You should consider a wood burner if your young enough to do the work. It also is the only heat source that will not strand you in the cold with a power outage. I heard just today that natural gas will be 40% higher and oil heating is going to double this year. If it wasn't for that I would use the furnace a lot more as I am getting older and it's harder each year hauling wood into the house everyday. Electric will always be the most efficient but that doesn't make it the most affordable.

I fish for walleye but catch mostly galvanized pike

What a dream business to have.......... A distant threat MAY be happing thousands of miles away that may never happen and you can immediately raise your prices without any ill effects to your business. Pretty much seems like a monopoly to me. Bob

Been eating them for over 20 years without any ill effects. Answer yourself this question. How safe is the BEEF or PORK you eat ? ? ? Of course you will think GOOD because they both have lobbiest that want you to think that. HOWEVER, everyday people are suffering and being hospitalized from ill effects of eating red meat. But you don't have WARING labels on those products do you ? ? ? WHY ! ! ! I will take any salmon, trout, perch or walleye from Lake Ontario or Lake Erie that anyone thinks is unsafe to consume. Now think again, where are the salmon caught that are being sold world wide........... It's anyone's guess most times. ANY fish or other foods now possess continents because of our environment these days........ many of our crops are watered with Great Lakes water........... need I continue ... :<(

Depending on how many fish or how easy the fishing is expected is how your question should be addressed and of course how much you are willing to spend. I recently enjoyed a fly in trip to Air Ivanhoe which is about 2 hours west of Gogama, Ontario. It was only a 20 minute flight but I did like what I seen in Ivanhoe Lake where the plane took off from. The accommodation's at Lake Ivanhoe and Nemegoseda where we flew into were VERY good. Here is there website. Next time I would like to stay back at Ivanhoe Lake and tear a new butt hole into the fishing population there :<) http://www.air-ivanhoe.com/ BTW the rates are very reasonable and the host are very good at making you happy ! ! ! Good Luck, Bob

Trailer wheel bearing question - solved
Billy Bob replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Fisherman has given you some great advice. Bearing should ALWAYS be changed as a set with the races. Bearing buddies IMHO are WAY overrated. I have never used them and have never had a bearing problem in over 25 years of towing. Of course I don't dunk my hubs in the water because I set up my trailer so they don't have to get wet. Bearing buddies only address the outer bearing. No grease can reach the inner bearing without blowing out the inner seal. Now what blown out your inner seals is somewhat a mystery to me. Are you sure they are the correct seals. They don't normally blow out like you have described (unlike what bearing buddies can do to the inner seal). Another problem could be that the axle has some rough spots where the inner seal in siding on. Remove the hub and clean up the axle with emery cloth should correct that problem with of course new inner seals :<( As far as using them in the short run (this year) I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are dunking the hubs completely under water they will take on some H2O and that will be a problem by next year. But in the mean time have some fun fishing. Bob -
There are THREE things we all need to live. 1) FOOD 2) WATER 3) GASOLINE (in today's modern world) Now here's a question nobody what's to address.......... Why are they still selling gas for example $3.99/9 per gallon. Didn't this outlive itself when gasoline started to sell for over $2 per gallon ? ? ? (Please forgive the US denominations)

NICE job on the deck. I alway like the look of new wood on a deck especially. Next year spray it with Thompson's Wood Protector. I have been doing that on my deck now for 28 years and it still looks GOOD :<)

Where do you live, I may be interested in selling my planer board mast and boards. I have one of the best mast in a Cannon mast with Willie boards. ALL in EXCELLENT condition. Bob

What hasn't been mentioned are the rod holders you need for Dipsy Divers. You really need a VERY good rod holder that will not be broken off when a fish hits. Big John rod holders are the best IMHO but there are others. But Big John's cost big bucks.
