  1. Taking some younger nephews and nieces to our remote camp on Manitoulin Island next week, south west end. Normally don't bother with live bait there, but taking the young ones this time has me considering bringing some in. I doubt bringing them from home would work out to well with the ferry crossing/travel time involved. Anyone on the rock have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  2. Oh yes, it is your first boat! Congrats on the new vessel!

  11. Very sad. Sorry for the loss of your pal.
  12. Yup, buddy got the orange one. And yes, I understand it is a mooching reel. Thought it would value about the same as a custom float reel by RonSG. Do you have any info on the 13' rod that came with it?
  13. Ha ha! Sure, we are lure washers, but we didn't just fall out of the bait bucket. Link to his website. It truly is a piece of art. http://rsgcustomreels.com/recent-builds.html
  14. My good fishing buddy was able to land a great 16.64lb rainbow in the Chantry derby. He won a RSG custom reel and a custom rod. We are just wondering what the value of this package might be. I suggested that he may want to schedule this on his home insurance. Thanks in advance for your comments.
  15. Great day! I can't wait until my son is confident enough to run the Scotty's up and down.
  16. Some great replies. One, rather childish and whiny. Good luck on the Grand!
  17. I agree. Also Lion's Head is fantastic , with a great marina and launch.
  18. Sounds like a great day on Lake Huron! What area were you fishing on?
  19. I was lying under my boat on the driveway wet sanding a repair, covered in white goo, when the unsuspecting lad with the clip board came up and asked me if it was a bad time. He left post haste after my reply. I felt a little guilty for a while. A little.
  20. Flow ice still blocking the harbor mouth, couldn't launch the boat so my son and I tried some beach fishing. Nice female for him, nice snack and some quality roe for the stream opener. Male for Dad, released. Goal is to share many more days like this together.
  21. Had a few over the years I miss. My current crisis. Vee power.
  22. Nice ski! Cheers
  23. Really? Acutually you were right. Those two in his pic. were the last two.
  24. Way to go Dad! You guys will be fine trolling with that 4 stroker. Burns more fuel, but who cares when you are on the fish.
  25. Hooked a cormorant on a cast from the Bayfield pier and an in air fight ensued. My 10 year old son was amazed and kept asking "Is it putting up a good fight Dad?" I had to keep shushing him, and stifiling my own laughter, there was a lady bird watcher setting up her giant camera and tri-pod right behind us. Fortunately she was so intent on setting up her equipment that she missed the entire ordeal from hook to release!
