I'm in - I'm not sure when we're leaving for Kitchener, but hopefully we'll be staying in Barrie so I can have a few pops with you guys!

Hey Gang! Ssshhh don't tell the boss - I'm surfin' OFC during work hours... :whistling: hah Anyways, for this year the dates & locations are set! Without the amazing support from Subway that Dave, and we as a fishing community receive these events wouldn't be possible at all so if you're able to please come on out, have an awesome time and show the good folks at Subway how much we appreciate this opportunity! They wanted to share the love a little by putting one in Barrie so hopefully some of you guys who are a little farther north of T-dot will make a drive down! Lookin' forward to 4 days away from the computer, hanging out with my fellow fishing freaks! Cheers, Ryan

Awesome John! You've been one of our greatest supporters from the get-go and I can't thank you enough! In the past few weeks I've had a close family friend in for Chemo treatments, a second cousin had to have ber breasts taken, my grandmother had a tumor removed which is still being tested, and a girl I went to school with died at the age of 28. It's a vicious disease that needs to be stopped! So thank you for your support! Thanks buddy! Fire me an email as a reminder if you could and I'll get one off first thing in the morning! -

The Urban Fisherman replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion

NF - any garage builders in the house?
The Urban Fisherman replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
I'll keep you posted for sure! I have some basement renos going on right now otherwise it'd be a no brainer. And having a garage is a luxury, not a necessity for me. The only advantage of doing it now is that I can do it for a discounted price and it'd increase the value of my property. Living out in the county means people who want to buy your house also want a garage. It's a bit of a pipe dream but could become a reality if all the stars align. This is what has been offered to me but half that size. Like I said, it needs a front a back and a slab/footing. Cheers, Ryan -

Hey guys thanks for all the awesome info! I completely forgot that my wifes cousin does this for a living! I know he'd be glad to help me out so no worries on that front. But the advice here is great anyways because that dude is basking in the sun in florida right now for the march break! I'm going to put some thought into this... Thanks again -

Hey brother... That's a cubic yard right? And you figure to be safe it'd take at least 15 yards for a 30 x 40 slab? -

Hey bunker thanks! I'm fishing around online for info as well.... I used to help poor pool decks and shed slabs as a summer job so I think I can handle it as well but no idea what the concrete costs.... So thanks for your input. -
I have an opportunity to get a FREE 30 x 40 steel barn style garage... It'll need a front wall and back wall, a slab, and a garage door. What I want to figure out is if it's going to save me money or if I should just wait and build a regular garage some day. Rough 30 x 40 slab price? Rough price for a standard 30 x 40 garage? I live in the middle of nowhere so I can't just call a local contractor and most of the contractors I looked up in the citybare closed today.

weird... I've worn mine in down-pooring rain and have been swamped by waves with no issues. The only time I ever saw one go off was when I saw somebody jump in the lake wearing one.

Sunami Footage From California
The Urban Fisherman replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in General Discussion
that's gotta suck something fierce, but it's a cake walk compared to what the poor folks are dealing with in Japan! -
Mustang Auto Inflatables use hydrostatic pressure to activate... you can get swamped by waves or pounding rain all day and they won't go off until you fall into the water!

Guide to Eating Ontario Sportfish
The Urban Fisherman replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
hey don't worry I just found out that my beloved bluegill are laced with Mercury! SO STAY AWAY FROM 'EM and leave them for me and the kids to catch! -
Hey guys, As I have a young family and wife who's spent a good part of the past few years being preggo haha I've always kept an eye on the guide to eating Ontario sportfish. They've gone and created an online interactive version which is pretty cool. Thought I'd pass the link along. Cheers, Ryan http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/environment/en/mapping/sportfish/index.htm

Open water walleye fishing SOON
The Urban Fisherman replied to Bob Devine's topic in General Discussion
Took the kids out to check the creek last night... I've been watching those images as well to see when the ice pops out of the bay - we just need a good strong north west wind to blow it out and I'll be in the boat! -

Posters and cards came in! Get'em while they're hot! And yes, this is an excuse to bump our Fish-a-Thon thread back up! Cheers, Ryan -
Hey now I'm 28 with 3 kids and a house!!! I know what you're sayin thought Wayne... When I was working in TO my 2 bosses were getting married and planning to have kids in their 40's!!!!!

guaranteed they'll eat gobies! I've caught Steelhead on a piece of half rotten shrimp taken out of a $2.99 shrimp ring... I'm betting a swimming goby looks a little more tasty! They look a lot like the sculpins I used to catch as a kid on Manitoulin Island tribs... those same tribs were loaded with Raibows who were surely eating the sculpins, also bottom dwelling fish like gobies...
