  1. Problem is I don't think they can ship powdered paints across the border, or possibly that is only the glow paint. I tried to order some from the US but apparently it's hazardous materials so if I wanted it had to go through a certified hazmat broker for mondo bucks. Heh drove across and just picked it up, but it was a hassle. That could be just for the glow paint though. Luremaking.com has pretty much the same thing so us Canucks are better off going through there.
  2. That guys baits are knockoffs, but good knockoffs. See the folded over lead tape he uses for weight, on a real Lucky Craft that's brass. Different bait, but see the colour differance.
  3. Now that's wranglin' some mules, nice shooting. Is that a lamprey mark on one of the fish in the 3rd pic?
  4. I reject your reality and replace it with my own!
  5. When you guys say "mouth" you mean from 400/69 down right? I thought that whole stretch was Crown Land?
  6. Now I'm all for Hammercarp, or MJL, or any other carp guru writing a delightfully dry article recycling all sorts of lovely information that's already been said in lot's of other articles.......hair rigs, boilies & method mix oh my! Or.....bear with me T.J......we go in another direction. What the angling world needs is a Hunter Thompson-esque figure to shake up the establishment and make them think. Make them think about carp! The psychedelic Cronzy of carp if you will. Hey, I've already laid the groundwork, flesh out This Post, add a sidekick..........hey I even have a title! Fight Of The Sausage Creature: Gonzo Carpin' .......When I came to, the general back-alley ambience of the swim was so rotten, so incredibly foul. How long had I been lying there? All these signs of violence. What had happened? There was evidence in this spot of excessive consumption of almost every type of bait known to civilized anglers since 1544 AD. What kind of gear addict would need all these pods, buzzers & crushed sunflower seeds? Would the presence of fish account for all these crumbs of chicken feed? Would rockbass leave these puddles of still damp fish slime? Maybe so. But then why all this bait? These were not the hoofprints of your average God-fearing angler gear junky. It was too savage. Too aggressive. Then like Moses parting the Red Sea the thought came to me in a flash......it was carp....only carp can lay down a shallow water smack down like this, no silly acrobatics on the surface like a smack addict doing the funky chicken. Nope, just BOOM! instant take off on the hook set. Some people will tell you that small is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you brotha that big is better. And carp are big. I've always believed this, in spite of the trouble it's caused me. Big strong fish will out pull small strong fish every day of the week. That is why God made carp, Bubba...... Heck there's even a tie-in to our straight to DVD movie effort: Fear & Loathing In Lakair, Adventures In Sheepshead Country!
  7. Okay, what's a good spinning reel for braid under 20lb., that's under 10oz in weight?
  8. Isn't that contradictory, it works because you didn't use the service? Or you were one of the smart ones not to put your number down and now all the telemarketers are all busy calling numbers on the list This would be the industry whose dirty little secret is members selling access to what is supposed to be an industry only dbase right? So when we move and the first week, even before we have all the furniture in, there's three "energy company associates" mentioned in a post a few days ago showing up at our door can I yell at you......just a little bit, please.
  9. Heh he changed the picture to a different site, atleast I'm not going nuts. Oh and Tony did up pick up some Hawberry jam? They sell the stuff everywhere, it's a berry that only grows on the island, tastes like a cross between a cranberry & strawberry. Tasty stuff, every September I go on a motorcycle ride up to Manitoulin to pick up some.....okay I use it as an excuse to on a motorcycle ride, but it's still tasty jam
  10. You're right about Manitoulin not changing a whole lot over the years. Probably hard on the locals but it keeps the slow pace of the island. Manitou & Kagawong has some great smallie action that nobody fishes for (including you apparently!), but its known for it's lakers. Manitou serves as a brood stock lake for Blue Jay Creek hatchery, which raises alot of the eggs for inland lake stocking. And is it just me or does everybody else get the banana from Michigan Stinger website?
  11. Lol he's the man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N130eMmUylU
  12. Remember one of the latest invasive critters in Lake O is a little beastie called the Spiny Water Flea. They're only a problem once the water warms up, but they'll stick to braid like nobodys business, wire or a thick slippery line like 30lb. Big Game is the only way to deal with them. Run braid through a bad patch of fleas and it will look like a foot of elephant snot got caught on your rod.
  13. Haa haa that was great. Okay, how many people were like "Nooooo the cord from your hoodie, don't reel don't reel!"
  14. Lol, you actually believe your gov't created something that benefits you without generating a dime of money for them? WHAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAHAAA AHAAAAAAAAAAAA <cough> <wheeze> HAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Um yeah, the do not call list is a joke. Another truly Canadian solution......take a good American idea, and royally screw it up. That's only for the US, none of that info applies here. Now if you REALLY want to get rid of them........ Telemarketer Murder Suspect
  15. You can knock the rough spots off a turd, put a Shimano sticker on it, and it will sell like hotcakes and everybody will swear it's the greatest piece of fishing equipment ever. Have to admit though, when I went through four Shimano reels in 12 months they replaced every one without a quibble.
  16. You know you're in a classy place when you call up the front desk about a leaky tap...... "I got a leak in my sink" "Aw right, go ahead"..................
  17. Gah, the po-po are getting craftier every year. Heh I went all last year without having a license, just assumed I had it and didn't notice I forgot to renew the sticker. Ooops. I did get charged with fishing without a license once, the one & only time I've ever been checked. I HAD a license, but the damn sticker washes off the card if it gets wet.
  18. It's speed through water, not speed compared to the center of the earth. Think of an airplane, with headwinds, tailwinds, crosswinds speed over ground isn't the same as speed through the water. Same thing in current, if you have a 2mph following current and you're trolling at 3mph your lure may be travelling at 3mph compared to a satellite in outer space but it will only have the same amount of action as if it's travelling at 1mph. Does that make sense? Blowboat guys call it true wind vs. apparent wind, you want the apparent speed of the lure in the sweet spot, that can mean trolling up to 4mph. If you don't have a speed probe never troll in a straight line, keep making large S-turns. If the inside rod keeps getting hit, slow down. Outside rod, speed up.
  19. Lol well you kinda nailed it. Some guys want the truck for themselves y'know I have heard that Darlington is slower this year than it usually is with the funky weather and messed up temps, so it's not just you. Then again this weeks leader so far is from there and I also heard that another 30 was weighed in at Darlington over the weekend........and he didn't have a ticket, d'oh I've been out a ways west of you but fish have been either in closer chasing bait or out in 150FOW in warmer water.
  20. What Jocko said, places that you can just drive up to are few & far between. But if you want to boat camp, or loose a few luxuries and portage a canoe that opens up an exponential amount of areas. Only suggestion I can give you is find an area you like and start prospecting.
  21. Found a pair of H2Optix polarized glasses I lost fishing a steelhead river........a year later. Took them off to land last fish of the day, hiked back to the car and it was already getting dark when I start the car and realize I don't have my glasses. Crap. Next year I'm fishing the same stretch and there they are, still hanging off the same cedar. Atleast I know I have a real secret spot
  22. It's been awhile, but one of the dams around Norval is totally on private property, you have to take out above it, portage out to the road, carry all your gear around this one jerkoffs property, and put in below the dam. Oh and watch out going through the golf courses, they tend to treat anybody in a canoe as a target.
  23. Ho's were stocked for three years in Bronte, Humber & Credit, huge numbers too for the 2007 return 90kish fingerlings stocked in 2004 if I remember right. Eggs from the US and the idea was to get a good return to ramp up stocking into more streams. The damn Atlantics put a kibosh on that, but there's still some small natural runs on Lake O. Good news is the MEA crew at Ringwood are going to start coho stocking again. Don't know exactly when the last ho was stocked in G'Bay but it was a long long while ago, Huron never really got many Ho's on the Canadian side. Oh and that's a jack male chinook.
