  2. That could be, but it's still May 5! I'd be pissed too, sounds more like river fishing
  3. Just listening in the car for now, sounds like this is going to be a good game!
  4. Thanks everyone, djeep, it was all nymphing except for 2 that were on bait
  5. Thats what I was thinking too, but also remember that brookies don't have as many options for spawning grounds too, you would think that more browns competing would result in smaller fish, but I guess it doesn't work that way...
  6. Went out again yesterday (and will be again tomorrow), not as eventful as the last trip but I was much happier with the colours of the fish and the lack of other fishermen We left later than the last time, on the river by 10 am, we tried about 1km above the last spot, since we figured most of them had moved up. Found some great water and saw fish, but they didn't seem to want anything to do with flies or bait, caught 3 smolts though which were fun. So we headed back down not far from the last week's pools. Almost immediately I saw and hooked fish. I was fishing some riffles just above a larger pool, there were some not so experienced anglers (aka tuna rods) in the pool and with every cast they spooked fish up to me, I waited 5 minutes or so and then casted to them, a nice little system lol! Heres the first... (I know it looks like I caught it in the fin, but if you follow the line you can see the fly in it's mouth ) After that we headed down to the fast water, not as many fish as last time but enough to keep me busy It took a while and we went through some suckers first but eventually I got another, took some drag, jumped a couple times and eventually subsided. Got 1 more smolt after that, hooked a really nice silver one but lost it at the bank, and lost a few others, and that wrapped up the day. Here are a few more pics if anyone is interested.
  7. Cool, I think I saw one yesterday too
  8. I have tried filleting them and you don't get much meat off them, if you run a knife down the belly and just scoop/scrape the guts out and then scale it you can pick every bit of meat off it, and I do mean every bit
  9. Another 10 hours on the river, another 6 or so fish

  10. I think this is probably the most fitting song for this week http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1xO1M3c6aSs&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D1xO1M3c6aSs
  11. Try the fly rod but instead of yarn maybe some nylon rope, I know a lot of guys do well on that. I'm hoping to catch my first this year too
  12. Nice going! Looks like a trip up there is in order
  13. there was a post about them in the otonabee a few months back, not sure if anyone has the link...
  14. Going out again tomorrow, will add to this report if I get anything
  15. Sounds like more of a solution than a problem
  16. It's been sold too, unless that was your friends....
  17. Thanks for the detailed explanation Old ironmaker, I emailed the city and am just waiting a response.
