Hi there, I have a trailer near Dunnville. I have always fished Erie for perch, but never the grand. With the winds being up this weekend, I was thinking about trying it out as my son is itching to get out (and so am I). I would be launching out of Port Maitland (near the mouth of the river). Hi there, been a while since I have been on here....but looks great! Hoping someone can help me. I bought a new Smokercraft ProMag 182 last year. I am having trouble with sonar interference when I use my trolling motor. Sonar is great until I engage the tm. For reference, it is a Terrova with i-pilot and universal sonar. I have 2 sonar units (Humminbird 587ci run off the bow and using the trolling motor transducer, and a 597ci on the console with transducer at the stern). Both sonars react the same to the trolling motor turning on. Both sonars are connected to the 24v trolling motor battery set-up. There is also an on-board charger adding to the mess of wires. Is there an easy fix to this? The wiring set-up under the console seems pretty complex. I thought of just lengthening the power cord and running it to the cranking battery in the back....but am not sure and don't want to mess anything up. Any help is greatly appreciated! Hi there, caught a mess of nice perch on Erie today. When I was cleaning them, I noticed several with eggs in them. I thought this odd as don't they spawn in the spring?

Got out this morning with my little guy (5 years old). What a nasty day! Definitely glad I got the full top when I bought the boat because we put it to the test today! Anyhow, 60 fow and they were on fire! We caught 50 in a couple hours and 40 of them were good keepers. I also spent the last 2 weeks building my own rod, and it was awesome to catch them on something I made myself (shout out to Spiel for a lot of awesome advice while building it). I'll post some pics of the finished product. Not craftsman quality, but pretty darn good for a first attempt.

Hi there, getting the motor ready to go nighty night. I have greased the prop spindle and all of the other spots that are done by hand. My question...for the grease ports that require a grease gun...how do you know how much to put in? Does it squirt out when full? Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I am storing my boat at my trailer this winter and it has to be put away by October 7. I just bought the boat new this year - Smokercraft ProMag 182. All I have owned before this was a small aluminum tiller. I am hoping someone can direct me to a great resource on how to winterize the actual boat itself (I am good with the motor). I want to do it myself, but since I have never owned a big boat, I am not sure of all that needs to be done. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I was going to buy an ice-ducer for my Humminbird 597ci to take ice fishing this year. It has the flasher built in and I am eager to try it. I just realized that I have an extra transom mount transducer for this as the unit is currently hooked into my Terrova with universal sonar. My question is, can I just take the transom mount transducer, mount it to something so that it shoots the beam straight down the ice fishing hole? Will it work as well/the same as the ice-ducer? Thanks.

All right! I finally have 2 days to myself this weekend (first all year) and am going to spend it on the lake. I really want to try and practice my drop shot technique for smallies and perch. Any tips? Fishing the east end, Mohawk Point, Port Maitland.

When I ice fish I always have a drop shot line with minnow. Has consitantly outproduced.

Hi there, I bought my first rod kit and it says to use denatured alcohol to clean up any epoxy. I can't seem to find any...does anyone use something like this? Is there a substitute?

I love my Shimano Compre! Closed the car door on it once and snapped it. Took it to the tackle shop and walked away with a new one no questions asked. 5 years, tons of fish and not a complaint!
