  1. Hi there. I am taking my oldest son up to the trailer this weekend near Dunnville. With 35 k winds, we won't be hitting Erie. Plan is to launch in Port Maitland. I would love to get into some fish for him as we have struck out on perch on the main lake so far... Even sunfish would be great ( but dad wants a walleye). Any advice/ suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  2. What sort of negotitation room is there generally on a boat? Say $30-$35k before taxes and fees?
  3. Thanks. The post about not feeling the bite makes me think. When I feel the tap tap tap, should I be setting the hook? I have been waiting until they "take it" assuming they were just playing with it.
  4. Finally got out when the wind wasn't blowing 25K. Launched out of Mohawk Marina in Lowbanks. Followed as much advice as I could....ended up with 1 perch (dink) and 1 sheepshead. I hate to ask again...but HELP. My son is going to give up if I don't get him onto some fish soon. I focused on 60-65 feet of water. I did mark some fish, but not the big schools I was expecting. In most cases...the mark showed as a long horizontal line (fairly thin) just above bottom....I am assuming these are perch? I used a drop shot and minnows. Frustrating to hear of guys limiting out...I want to be that guy!
  5. Thanks. It will mainly be used on Erie. Have 3 boys and want to use it for skiing/ cruising when they get older too. How does fiberglass hold up? I plan on having it for a long time.
  6. Hi there, just wondering what the pros and cons are of fiberglass vs. aluminum boats. I really like the Fincraft boats (fiberglass)...but know nothing about fiberglass. Thanks in advance.
  7. One more question. When you find them...do you anchor, or just drift over them repeatedly?
  8. Ok... Good info. Thanks. Is drop shot a good method?
  9. Hi there, hoping someone can offer some advice. I have a trailer in Lowbanks and launch out of Mohawk marina on Erie. New to the area and having some trouble finding fish. I went out with my oldest son today. We tried from 25 feet out to 60 feet and not a bite. We were using live minnows on drop shot. To be honest, not even sure if I marked anything... There were some " clumps" on the bottom, but no arches. I would really like to get into some. Thanks in advance for any help. PM me if preferred.
  10. I feel this deserves a shout out. After a long search, I was unable to find some replacement co-pilot rod clips, so I decided to post here to see if anyone had any. Limey Angler said he had a couple and would mail them to me....sure enough they arrived in the mail today. Class act.
  11. Hi there, I have lost a couple of the rod clips for my co-pilot remote. Just wondering if anyone has any that they want to sell or knows where to find them. I have been unsuccessful at finding any. Thanks in advance.
  12. I like the reusable grocery bag idea. How do you tie them on?
  13. Had a fall last week and just came back from the surgeon. I have torn my ACL and MCL in knee. No fishing for me for a while!
  14. Try fifty point conservation. You wont catch anything if you dont try
  15. Spelled it wrong.... fincraft.... Made by Larson
  16. Any opinions on their fiberglass fishing boats?
  17. Hi there, when does lake Erie perch fishing heat up?
  18. Sorry for your loss. I had a beloved cat that was poisoned as well.... I feel for you. No need for it to happen.
  19. Thinking of heading out for some browns on Sunday... Is it worth uncovering the boat? Anyone catching anything?
  20. Been thinking about this... Could be fun especially for my boys. Anyone do this? Is it worth it? Would be for personal use only. Thanks in advance!
  21. So I almost hate to admit this, but i don't like the taste of fish ( unless it is fish deep fried in batter). I know that fish has a lot of health qualities, but are there recipes out there that will remove the " fishy" taste?
