Take the shingles off , it shouldn't even be questioned , what if there's rot under them ? Don't skimp out on the waterproof membrane , and no.. You can't put it over shingles , do it once do it right .. The steel roof would be the last roof that that cottage will ever see .

Funny you say this , my microwave caught fire yesterday , chipped paint around the turn table shaft , turn table plastic supports caught fire .( no damage to the house ) blackened cupboards is all . I then started looking for a right hand hinged door , sounds easy eh ? Impossible unless you want to spend over 700 $ for a 1.5 cu/ft unit ... 1.5 cu/ft stainless unit on sale at CTC right now for 99$ , replace it ... but .. take the old one apart and keep the magnet .. Well worth it , very strong ! If you're for painting it , epoxy paint would be the way to go I'd guess ...

Strip old singles off , apply self sealing waterproof membrane , steel roof ... never to be touched again ... looks great , sounds even better under rainy skies .

For a smaller outboard on my boat 14 ft no brainer, 2 stroke , 4 stroke 70lbs more . Larger boat ( 17.5 hopefully in April) will for sure have a 4 stroke .

I envy all these numbers I'm seeing , I tow a 9000lb 30' Camper Trailer with my Expedition , my numbers are obscene , on a brighter note I do manage a 15L / 100k while towing the boat .
