  1. To be honest -Jon Bondy from Windsor is really the only Canadian fishing tournaments for a living, Dave Mercer, Bob Izumi Karl Kalonka, Dave Chong etc... all fish tournaments for the thrill of competition-not to pay the bills! We don't get into it to get rich.Tournaments are the best way to test your skills against other anglers on a level playing field. Jon is one of the lecturers at the Basstalk seminar in Woodstock, and is the only Canadian fishing the B.A.S.S. Elite series in the USA check out the info in the announcement section, fyi to fish the BASS Elite - the enty is $5,000.00 for each event and you MUST fish all 11!
  2. Charles is right- I am also a member of the Bass-Pro club, as part of the CBAF this is an awesome way to up your learning curve-as a member you can enter and fish any event by any CBAF club, amongt our members names like Doug Brownridge, Dave Chong, JP Derose, Simon Frost, and many more established anglers, you get draw, you will learn more in 1 summer than 5 summers on your own-some cool boat rides too! and yes I fish tournaments also.
  3. WTG-some nice fish! nice live release on the big laker!
  4. I picked one wrong-big Nog, I guess Mir was ready for him! I knew Evans was going to pull it off, while Forrest is a total warrior, I don't believe he has the natural talent of Evans, Rashad just seems better , stronger, and more confident with each fight!
  5. I'm all set for the fights too! Griffin vs Evans ------ Evans Nogueira Vs Mir ------ Nogueira Jackson vs silva ----- I think Jacksons going to pull it off. Dalloway vs Massenzio ----- Daloway Kongo vs Al turk ----- Kongo Okami vs Lister ---- Okami ( this should be on the main card what were they thinking? ) Hardonk vs Wessel ----- Hardonk Hamill vs Andy ----- Hamill with MMA its hard to really predict but it looks like a good card!
  6. Hi Guys/girls could anyone tell me the date for 2009 fishing for Tyler day?, Lures and Tours is including this event on their calender which is going to press very soon. Thanks! Mark
  7. Ive heard good thing about the Koppers baits, from the accounts that I've heard they work well, I will try them out in 09 for sure!
  8. Honestly guys, as much as people like to critize things, I think 24/7 fishing is great! Karl is looking into the glitch, and I'm sure WFN will straighten it out, I don't like every show myself, but there is something there for everyone! I think as anglers we need to support WFN, they are going forward and overall doing a good job.
  9. It was a really good card, looks like Erain was ready for Fellipe Nover.
  10. I really felt bad for Corey Hill, that kind of injury really sets you back.
  11. Smoked eel is pretty good, but its quite rich , so you cant eat a lot.
  12. Avid series are awesome Jose, I have a few of them and I consider them higher end especially where feel and weight are concerned, the lifetime warranty is nice too, the Legend, are really nice too, I have about 14 of them , I'll get a couple Mojo's and Extremes this year too. -you'll be happy with the Legends, I let a lot of people try mine and they always end up buying one of their own, drop by the booth -we'll have a lot of models there, as well as dealers to get the best price.
  13. Hi Jose, they came out a bit later in the year so I havnt had a chance to try them, they do feel really good, light , with a nice action, I have never been let down by St.Croix quality, as far as the specie , technique angle, it is really a guidline, for ex. I used a Legend top- water rod in Nov. Carolina rigging and tubes, it will also make a great wackey rod, it just makes it a little easier to select, especially these days where guys like myself put so much into a single technique, Mojo provides a technique specific, high quality rod for anglers on a budjet, or ones that don't fish 250 days a year, you'll love the drop-shot rod-I'd have no problem using it, I find my St.Croix drop rods also work great on grubs and other jigging applications, drop by the booth at the spring fishing show, and I'd be glad to help you out. Mark
  14. That is why fights take place in the ring instead of bars-Proffessionalism! I saw that too, no excuse! Remy's a true champ in every sense of the word!
  15. Ive been on the St.Croix rod pro-staff for 3 years now, and I can say they have never let me down, the new Mojo series, is going to be a huge hit, they feel great, and are affordable, I have a couple of freinds who have bought them and are very happy with the feel of the rods.
  16. It is Bill , I don't steelhead nearly as much as I used to, but I got out this past spring with my old freind Craig Ritchie, also filmed a steelhead show, I really miss it-hope to do some more this spring!
  17. No surprise to me, purple is an amazing fish catcher, my favourite bow fly is the pple egg-sucking leech, bass-trout-walleye purple and pink always produces!
  18. I Have one of these, as well as a trap-like trhe trap when fishing by myself, but when I take my 2 boys the cube is great, nice and roomy.not bad to set up.,
  19. As far as detail, structure , clarity and fishfinding capability, Lowrance beyond doubt, I have used both extensively and will use only Lowrance!
  20. When they pull the rod from my dead hands!!
  21. Thats excatly what happened -you see it in K-1 when Bob Sapp knocks out a guy like Ernesto Hoost skill wise no comparison, but when a guy that big hits you -goodnight!
  22. Happy to help Chris, its not so much the boat as fishing properly for the conditions, I had a 16 ft tinn with a 60 hp for 15 yrs, before I got into tourneys, when I retireI'll probably go back to an 18 ft alum.
  23. Remember the younger, stronger bigger , tougher Gonzaga? You can never count Couture out ! MMA anything can happen.
