  1. I say if the price is right go for it. Yamaha make great motors and a oil injected 2 stroke is not bad at least you don't have to mix. Also 8 years old for an outboard is nothing. After saying that if there is no rush I say wait til you find a 4 stroke if that is really what you want. I am on my second 4 stroke and I love them, quiet,no smoke ,no mixing oil,the only downside is the added weight.
  2. don't know what you paid for the northern lures in the package but they are selling them here in London at Liquidation World for 50 cents each.
  3. neither my buddy or I were willing to persue the matter so charges were dropped, although the MNR did confiscate there fishing gear we were told.
  4. thats one of the reasons I stopped fishing some of my favourite huron streams like the niner and maitland til after the slaughter fest was over, usually by mid october.By then most of the cavemen have packed away the gear to next fall. About 12 years ago my buddy and I headed up to the niner to fish we got there around 230 am planning on catching some ZZZZs in the parking lot by the dam til first light, but instead got a couple idiots with a flashlight, net and fishing rod with about 30lb cable and a large spoon on it stalking fish past the wire right up to the barrier. When we surprized them by yelling they tried to run to the other shore both wiping out and getting soaked. When they finally crossed again we were waiting for them on the riverbank, when we told them we had called the OPP and MNR(which actually we had not) and they were not going anywhere one of the asses pulled a knife on us. Well after they drove off we did call the OPP gave a description of the car including plate and their heavy eastern european accents. They were arrested in KW.
  5. thanks,I like it. soon as I figure out how to use it I will. thanks again
  6. two of my all time favorites and got to be classics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv_ZsnpiUA8 and anything by Zeppelin or Pink Floyd none of the music made today can compare. Any other Jethro Tull fans out there.
  7. due to their diet,I catch ones that colour all the time on Restoule but I also catch ones that are more yellow side by side. I don't beleive they are true blues.
  8. We always burn them in a hot fire. You are more at risk from cooking odours at your site then burning fish scraps in bonfire. After all that out in the water aways from shore is the best option.
  9. It has been over a year for us to say goodbye to "Sam" our 15 year old yellow lab,she was a great dog there is not a day I don't think about her. She was number 3 and the others are just as much missed. Now we have "Jazz" a soon to be 1 year old golden. As much as it hurts when you loose one ,the love and joy you get from another somehow helps ease the pain, but you never forget the ones before.
  10. The motor is a 4 stroke johnson brand new. It requires a 10 hr inspection to be performed by a dealer as per owners manuel.
  11. Could someone pass along some info on this. My motor needs the mandatory 10 hour inspection for warranty purposes, does anyone have an idea the time required for this and the cost? Does it have to be exactly 10 hrs or could it be in that area? I figure I am about at that point but was planing on a 3 day get away starting monday and will add another 2-3 hours to the motor, should I just book the service and cancel the trip or is there some lean way towards the 10 hours and do the service when I return? The manuel states what is needed and when but I am sure they don't expect it to be exactly 10 hours.I just don't want to void the 36 month warranty.I would call a dealer and ask but it might be tough to find one open now or even tommorrow. thanks
  12. heres some viewing to spark up a debate
  13. I know,I know we passed up the chance a few times back in the early 90s and have regretted it ever since. Now what was selling for 40,000 is now 220,000.
  14. Frankie we must have crossed paths last week, your third picture of the boys in the boat at the dock a small part of my boat is in the picture(back right). Not the fiberglass with top but the white and black starcraft with 70 johnson that was on the end of the dock. I have a 5hp nissan on as well. The small beach where you waded out from is the only place in the park where you can actually get a cell phone signal. You might have seen my wife and I walking our golden past your site. We were camped in the walk in sites right by the ramp and docks.
  15. nice park, some of the sites are close to the road so you will hear traffic all night from 69. The lake is busy lots boats and jet skis. Yes there is good smallie and pike fishing but the lake also has walleyes, musky and lake trout and my wife caught a 12 lb channel cat in there one night.Fishing without a boat is limited to park shorelines and the docks. You can rent canoes and kayaks right in the park and boats from marina around the corner.Lots of weedbeds in the main lake around the islands, try fishing them in the 8-12 fow ,spinnerbaits, rapalas j-7,f-7s work well,I also had some good luck with live minnows for pike. Good luck.
  16. I just bought a spool of the 50lb and spooled it up for the little guy. It seems like a descent braid and for 12 bucks about 8 bucks cheaper than power pro or fireline.
  17. Goin back about 14 years myself and a few buddies went up to fish the opener of bow season on the 9 mile. This time instead of getting up there for about 4 am we decided to go up in the afternoon the day before and fish the first pool that was open. Little did we know around 9pm truck loads of high school kids showed up for their annual party,we got invited to join and did. We had 3 vehicles up there with us with plans to sleep in them there. Well my one buddy ended up with a date for the night and had to have his truck to himself ,then instead of fishing in the morning he had to drive his "date " home about 40 minutes away and missed the best opener we ever had. When we got back the action had slowed and there was about 60 guys shoulder to shoulder, the rest of us had our limit.
  18. walmart here in town has stealth camo braid on clearence for 12 bucks, seems to be a good price compared to the other braids, anyone have an opinion on this braid ? thanks
  19. Just wanted to know if it was worth the effort to fish wildwood.I have not fished it in about 15 years. It is late summer and water temps are high along with algae and low water levels. I am off tommorrow and would like to take my 10 year old out to fish for bass and pike. He has mastered the baitcaster(as well the bow mount) and loves casting topwaters for bass and pike.He even bought himself a scum frog last week. Well is there anything doing out on the pond ,thanks. PS any tips on lure choices and general locations would be greatly appreciated.
  20. spray nine does wonders on my aluminum, might want to give it a try.
  21. I just spent sometime this past week in a few eastern ontario PPs. Bon Echo is a very nice park, lots to do but also very popular. Bonnechere is a small park but has very nice sites an awesome beach and good fishing. Sharbot Lake was a disappointment.too close to the highway, very noisy anda lot of very poor sites. Out of these I would reccommend either Bon Echo or Bonnechere.
  22. It will take a couple days for a puppy to adapt to a change in puppy food. Go with a puppy food with a high content of protein,if the first ingredient is corn or cornmeal(science diet) stay away. The house brand at Petsmart is a very good product, compare it to science diet or any other big brand name and it is actually better and cheaper. Don't be fooled by big brand names.Another to consider is Blue Buffalo but very expensive.
  23. thanks for the offer Dan,but last night he picked some up in Sudbury ,a couple cans one to carry and another to keep in the atv, plus he said he will start taking his 410 with him back in the bush.
  24. I am about to book a site for the week there starting tomorrow. Just need any help on selecting a good site. I would prefer one on the water and have a list of ones available. If someone could reccommend one it would be much appreciated. thanks site available- 3,7,61,111,115,117,119,136,142,153,175 all are waterfront sites, hoping for on to beach the boat and allow the pup to swim, thanks.
