  1. I gotta try this. If it works my mom might make me the sole beneficiary on her will. My favs for perch batter are any type of crushed up chips. Lays BBQ and Doritos sweet chili heat are my 2 go to. I also tried the breakfast cereal 'Cinnamon toast crunch' once and it worked out well. So many possibilities.
  2. Dang it bud, you've got my mouth watering. Honestly, perch is probably my favourite all time fresh water fish. I'll take it over pike, walleye, trout and crappie any day. Glad to hear you were able to introduce the neighbours to it. Now they'll mow your lawn and shovel your drive when you are out catching more.
  3. You'd be surprised to be honest. Mine is by no means top of the line and myself and my buddy who is pushing 250 lbs both sit on the same side of it without it tipping over.
  4. Very cool. I did something similar in Curacao. They said they were like Pac-Man. They would eat anything that you put in front of them and wouldn't know when to stop.
  5. My 12 foot nucanoe frontier is perfect for this. I stand up and let the trolling motor do the hard work. It's like having a 12 foot casting deck.
  6. Some awesome pics bud. Makes me realize just how little I've gotten out this winter. Thanks for sharing the awsome pics. Facebook told me that today (Feb 17) was 4 years since you guys first brought me out on Nippissing. Seems like only yesterday.
  7. Took you long enough. Oh. Fun fact of the day, Bishop, Elliot and Lhener are 17-0-7 against the Sens, since being traded away by the Sens.
  8. Thanks so much everyone. Really, I know we could go to Simcoe and probably limit out on perch at Hales or Terry Goy's but to be honest, the drive is all part of it. We'll get snacks and coffees. Grandfather will tell us a ton of stories (probably 2 or 3 times each). He'll tell us about the cottage he used to have on the French. We'll settle in at a hotel and play Crib. He'll forget which cards he tossed into the crib and my mom will count 15 wrong about a dozen times. The whole weekend is an experience to be honest. Making the most of these now because I never know which one might be the last time for any of us.
  9. Let's give Matt something to talk about (lord knows it's not the Sens) When the leafs start consistently making the playoffs, Andersons inconsistsncy could be a problem. Of couse, with better D in front of him, his job will be easier.
  10. She says she wants to try it. I've had ex's in the past love the fishing on Simcoe pulling up the perch. Long as I let her bring her phone and something to watch movies on I think we'll be ok. No worries on the slot. Last half dozen times I have gone to Nip, the jumbo perch keep everyone happy. I prefer to keep them and the Ling anywhoo. Let the walleye live to fight another day.
  11. Thanks. I didn't even think about that. Ok so Nippissing it is. Who are good to go with that I can book with only a months notice? I'd say Simcoe but in my experience its either Cooks with tons of dink perch with 1-2 eaters and a herring or Kemp where you might get 1-2 whitefish with the occasional Lake Trout but not much else (Unless you are Brian B and you limit out for the group by 9am). Looking for a mix of the two.
  12. Hey Everyone, Have a plan for the first weekend in March to take my mom, grandfather and girlfriend ice fishing. I can't decide between Quinte and Nippissing. Here is the plan, let me know what you think makes the most sense. Leave Mississauga Saturday afternoon (me and girlfriend plus grandfather would stay at my mom and dad's place) drive to 'insert location'. Get a hotel room. Wake up early Sunday morning. Get pre-booked hut from (looking for suggestions for this as well. Have not booked yet). Fish until the sun goes down. Drive back to Toronto. Drop off girlfrend. Drive back to mississauga. Drop off mom and grandfather. So, is Nippissing too far for this? The first day I'm not concerned but on the Sunday I'm trying to do the math and I keep thinking I'll be getting home around midnight. Also, I have allllllways had success on jumbo perch and Walleye on Nippissing, on Quinte do the opporators do well? All tips and advice greatly appreciated.
  13. Been curious about Stucco for a while now. Please report back on your decision.
  14. My deepest condolences. Sorry for your loss.
  15. Black and chartreuse spinner bait in clear water, white spinner in cloudy/murky water. I used to catch all my pike pulling that behind a paddle boat on the French. Toss out, troll the weedline, turn around and go back. Easy peasy
  16. (holds envelope up to my forehead) How is tweeting like being a Sens fan?
  17. Terry Goy out of Gilford has always put me on perch. Nothing big but you'll tire your arms out reeling them in.
  18. I know no one liked him when he played for the leafs, but when Phaneuf was traded to Toronto, he was arguably a #2 guy (Although he dropped to 3 or 4 on the franchise) and the leafs got him for Hagman........ shoot the other two guys were so bad I legit don't remember who they were. Anyways, deals like that are doable just rare. Not saying its a lock that Nylander will get traded for a D man, but anything is possible.
  19. The only argument I have heard is that getting a top 2 proven dman can be tricky. Even the draft can be hit or miss with talent that high. I'm not saying they would be shipping him, but if the right deal came along, I bet he would be the piece that gets moved.
  20. It's interesting. A lot of the experts keep saying that Nylander is the one that will be on the move in the next few seasons for a top flight D man. I honestly really hope not. Kid has got a lot of heart and a ton of talent.
